I hear ya sister. I was apoor kid too and mosrt of my ‘stuff’ was hand-me-downs. That’s why I have a problem hoarding, especially coats and shoes.
Every so often I look at all the crap I have upstairs and in the garage and just know my family is gonna hate me when I depart this mortal coil.
(What the heck is a ‘mortal coil’, anyway?)
It isn’t all bad. Local son-in-law will get the tools, although the daughter, his wife, will likely curse me. Likewise local grandson, her son, will prolly get the trains.
The guns will be a problem though. I don’t think any responsible adults want them. Them that do shouldn’t have 'em. I’m trying to sell them off as I go, but every once in awhile another one appears. My rule is, if I buy one, I have to sell two. We’ll see.
So they were passing out UPS facemaks/neck coves as we were coming in today. [Jeff Probst]Welcome yo your new Tribe[/Jeff Probst]. Did unload, clerking, and running missorts. Only problem with that is I know what I’m doing, so I keep getting sent on side quests. I also gave Alex Catt a bath after work. She took it well, apart from wanting to sit on the toilet instead of the tub. Gordie, however had a meltdown over it.
My pain doc visit went well. The guy actually did his homework - he had a copy of the radiologist report form my last set of MRIs with a bunch of underlining, circling, and notes. We have a treatment plan in hand, but San Francisco has complicated it with requiring a negative Covid test within seven days of each of the three scheduled procedures. I just hope I’ll be able to get results within seven days! PWAISDN had to wait eight days for his results.
Evening all. Not much accomplished today, since I bought a book yesterday and no good book goes unread in this house for long. Plus I downloaded an Advanced Reader’s copy (if you would, a ‘first draft’ to the publisher) on a SF series and have spent way to much computer time reading that. Add my binging on-line comics (2 down, third one started), and doing sudoku’s and jumbles…well, at least I know my brain cells are still active, even if the rest of me is not.
OW, I’d love to try that out. It’s been years since I rode a coaster, none really close to here and given my…generous waist…I might not fit the safety devices well. But I love coasters in spirit.
Well done, Thel
Sari, good luck with the madwoman of Philly (think that’s where you said you were). And hope friend1 knows how lucky they are to be your friend…
gotti, good news on the Doc, hopefully the reporting is a little faster these days.
Boo, your neighbor needs a life…tell him you’ll take up a collection to get him one (bet your not the only neighbor he annoys). You and Sari’s stories make me happy I’ve got good folks (or at least quiet ones) near me.
Cookie, glad to hear (or not hear) that any more cussin’ was needed.
MetalMouse - sari lives in the western half of Merrylande - Spidey is the Philly-area denizen (Where the heck has he been? Does he hate us now??)
The dishwasher is swishing along and I’m about to mosey back to bed. FCD will be working all weekend so I’ll have to figure out how to entertain myself. Part of it will involve picking up sticks… finally! But for now, chillage and maybe some TV before going unconscious.
LOL! Did eat an actual sandwich this evening (OK, McD’s double cheeseburger, plain. Just meat, cheese, and bun). Probably going to have some peas later, kind of craving them. Thawing them and eating them still cold sounds good, really (I have at least some tolerance for most canned vegetables, except peas. Only fresh or frozen peas tolerated).
Irk was about average today, DH is feeling better than he did yesterday, but has reverted to using a cane, which he hadn’t in a few months. The Princess picked when I was just about to set the laptop aside this morning to start getting ready to leave to demand a snuggle, and I couldn’t turn her down :). Still got out the door on time.
Loved the video once I stopped laughing I sent it to my sons. Thanks.
I’m doing good if I get home from picking up a book on hold at my library without pulling over and cracking it open…and I live less than a mile from the library. They smile warmly when I walk in the door and call me by name for what I do for their circulation numbers. The feeling is mutual. I think public libraries are one of the finest inventions of civilized society. [not that I’m saying our current society is civilized…]
Showered and slightly de-stinkified, tho I’ll be back less’n 12 hours after leaving.
Dinner tonight was prepared by Cap’n Long John Silver and his merry band of buccaneers and fry cooks. Now I’m having a cuppa before bed, because tea has always been a relaxing thing and my mom raised me to drink the stuff any time day or evening.
(It always amuses me to hear someone say, “Oh, no tea, thanks, I’ll have a hard time falling asleep.” Almost as amusing as the look on my mom’s face.)
Good night, y’all, and kolorowych snow (pronounced like snooooof) which means “colorful dreams” and is how you wish someone a pleasant night in Polish. I always liked that one.
Johnny, I’m glad my dad isn’t leaving anything that we have to share behind. As it stands, one sister will pull enough crap that the lawyers will wind up with everything.
Good luck at the doc hippy.
I keep a flat of canned tomatoes, some tomato paste, tomato sauce, some canned beans and I’m OK with canned spinach or turnip greens, but any other canned vegetable won’t get eaten at my house.
We spent 2.5 hours at the dog park tonight since Nelson’s Low Rider Crew (2 dachshunds, 2 dachshund mixes, a corgi and a miniature basset) were all there. He’s no longer acting all weird.
