I completed 35 hours of professional continuing education webinars this week, and saw 6 clients. Now I’m going to sleep.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort. I was dreaming of gin and tonics last night.
Shooing widows and orphans off your lawn?
Maybe he got shived in that dive bar we were in in Conshohocken?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 95 and mostly N.O.S. with maybe a chance of afternoon rain/tstorms/apocalypse. We shall see. JDD and Partner are comin’ over around noonish. We shall consume hot dawgs and then have some quality cee-mint pond time. We shall all sup upon grilled chikin, sallit, cheesey garlic bread and watermelon. I think this year we have consumed way more watermelon than usual, and usual is a lot. We’ve gotten really good local ones this year.
OK, I read all but retained little, so yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, and how you doin’s all around as needed.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
Found out last night the mother of one of my daughter’s oldest friends died yesterday - she’d been in hospice for cancer. I think she was younger than I am - that’s always a slap upside the head…
Her other oldest friend will be arriving tomorrow with her somewhat annoying spousal unit, They’ll be here for a week, I think. I need to scribble down my meal plans for this week to make sure I have enough groceries. I have a couple of freebie pizzas due to me, so that’ll cover at least one night.
We got some rain overnight, to judge by the puddle in the driveway. I didn’t hear t-boomers so I’m assuming it was just rain. Not a lot predicted till later in the week - I may get to mow yet! SIL brought the new terlit in from the car - I’m going to try to get it installed today. Worst part will be getting the old one out without leaving a trail of drippin’s thru the house. Second worst will be finding someone to take the old terlit - time to put up a freebie ad.
So that’s my big day of plans! Happy Saturday!
And raking in the rent money.
Bought hard-boiled eggs to make deviled eggs. Probably should have looked at a recipe first, to see if I have the other ingredients. Not sure I’ve ever made them on my own, just helped my parents.
Just printed out a recipe for Philadelphia style butter pecan ice cream. Not sure if I have pecans, so that might have to wait a bit.
Really getting tired of cooking every day, so I’m grateful for all of you describing what you cook and eat to give me ideas. Made chicken chimichangas in the oven today. Took a while since I had to poach the chicken first, cook the onions (I half carmelized them), etc. So that’s lunch for a few days. Dinner will be cheese, crackers and fruit. Bought my second mini-watermelon this week, so we’ll get into that.
Probably should go pick the pea pods. I have some Hidden Valley Ranch dip made up, so I’ll probably dip them in that.
Morning all. Was up reading until 12:30am yesterday/today, so slept in some. Nothing much on the schedule, may water the front yard as it’s going to 93F today and no rain in sight.
Have a good Sattiday, all.
Deviled egg recipes are many and varied. My easiest one is mayo, yellow mustard, and a splash of vinegar, plus salt and pepper. Pickle relish is an occasional addition. I think my MIL adds finely diced onion.
I’ve also made Bloody Mary Deviled Eggs - I’m not crazy about them, but my sister, mom, and husband love 'em.
Back from my walk - another really humid day out there. Once I cool down and rehydrate, I’m going to pick up some sticks. And I’m thinking Chinese takeout for supper tonight maybe.
What are you spiking the watermelon with? :d&r:
Ditto here!
I woke up as usual around 4:00 am and opened the back door to let the cats and dog out. Then went back to sleep. At 5:30 Sweetie dog nudges my elbow and whines. It’s interesting how the whiny sound transcends species. I know the door was open wide enough for her and I know her food bowl was full, so I told her to lie down, which she did grudgingly and with an air of, “Don’t say I didn’t tell you.”
Then I caught a glimpse of suspicious cat activity in the hallway. Dang! I got up to investigate and Tikva had brought a live snake into the house. I will pick up birds and even lizards, but I draw the line at snakes, even tiny ones, which this one was. It was about the length and diameter of a yellow pencil. Mostly unharmed, although the tip of its tail looked a little mangled. I got a dustpan and hand broom and swept it up and outside. Considering they have no legs, they certainly can move fast!
Wide awake at that point! Might as well walk, which I did as soon as it got a little bit light (about 6:15).
I’m sorry about your daughter’s friend’s mom Moooooooom. Having someone relatively young like that pass is a real jolt of reality.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasting, a load of towels in the wash, puppy crate cleaned, fresh placemats down on the kitchen table and fixing to do KP.
Today’s plans are the usual Saturday chores, hanging out in the studio (the ragweed has hit us early and with a vengeance and it makes both Nelson and me sneeze) and head to the dog park in the early evening. I also need to order some ribbed tank tops for under my irk shirts from Duluth Traders.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
My Cardiologist appointment went well. He took me off the blood thinner! in ten days or so the horrible bruises I get from the slightest contact with a solid object will be a thing of the past!
How warm was it for a snake to be up and about at 5:30 Ante Meridian?
Just finished picking up sticks… and logs!! Some big-ass branches fell in the storm! I started raking up everything, and transitioned into picking up only the bigger pieces - the ones that would tax the mower. And like a dummy, I forgot to spray on insect repellent, so my legs got et up. But as soon as it dries out a bit, I can mow.
More re-hydration, then I need something for lunch. And I’m thinking the terlit may just wait till tomorrow. We shall see…
Well, I think it may have gone down to 79-ish during the night.
Lady SCAdian found a really nice recipe somewhere that adds avocadoes.
Interesting. I was warned about the possibiliity of bruises, but I haven’t gotten any. Nor has there been any excessive bleeding, even when I tore a toenail off.
Fed, working on caffeination, and trying to work up enough energy to get the weedwhacker out…
all present and probably correct- I forgot I was out of smoker fuel, so I didn’t do a proper check on them. I was basically making sure they have enough space to bring in plenty of honey, and they were a wee bit tetchy, so I didn’t want to pick a fight. I wanted to go walkies, but these rotten blisters on my heels are rubbing in pretty well all my shoes, so I think I need to leave it a few days. It was wearing the shoes I’ve not worn in months, which promptly got wet and rubbed like hell.
I am approving of the weather today; we have a heatwave over most of the country, but the town has a thick layer of misty cloud plonked over it, so it’s pleasantly cool in the house, but go just a mile away and everything, including the bees, are in full, hot sun. Means I get to pick my weather. I’m going for cloudy.
Ah – the Englishman in his natural habitat!
Die_Capacitrix, may I suggest Sam the Cooking Guy on Youtube.
He is someplace north of 500 videos, so your food needs could be covered for the next year or two, allowing for a repeat or two.
Happy Adoption Day / Birthday to ma boy.
