I’ve been getting those bruises too, and I’m not on blood thinners. Anymore.
Oh well. I have my regular semi-annual appointment with my primary physican on Tuesday. It’s on the list of things to talk about.
I was on blood thinners for a while, because of my afib, but I started getting bleeds in my left eye. 3 times in 2 weeks. So I talked to my cardiologist and they checked my records* and said I could quit 'em.
*My fancy-schmancy pacemaker records every single heartbeat and transmits them…somewhere, and they can look at an EKG sorta graph any time they want to. It’s cool.
I like a little bit of the green Tabasco sauce in my deviled eggs, but I’m pretty much alone in that opinion.
I know I don’t usually comment on all y’all’s daily activities, (except to say “me too”.) but I do so enjoy reading about them. Makes me feel like part of the gang. Or a gang, anyway.
Mom, if you have a big ol’ piece of cardboard you can set the terlet on it and slide it out of the house, and the cardboard will contain some of the water. With the judicious application of rags, maybe all of it.
No mayo, but I have tartar sauce, so I’ll try that with a bit of mustard (I have dijon or mustard powder, which might also work) and a dusting of paprika.
What a great line! It sure is the truth about me and my phone. Yah made me smile
Loved the news about the Little Food Pantry and the picture. I hope you continue to feel giddy about what you are doing for folks. I enjoy you feeling giddy! When I have some extras, I box it up and put it on the porch of a half way house for recently released women ex-prisoners that is half a block away. I leave a note so they know it is from a friend that is glad they came to live near me. The neighborhood is so mean and nasty to them-serious case of NIMBY. It is only 3 women trying to get back on their feet, fer cryin’ out loud.
Could not have said it as well myself. Not much appealing for breaking my fast in the kitchen. Big task today will be ordering a big slug of groceries from that WM evil empire and having them deliver it. My housemate prefers to spend the $8 delivery fee rather than pick it up-seems we always sit in the parking lot forever waiting for them to bring it out and when they do, the clerk has their mask sitting under their nose, grrr. This way they set it on the porch, one of us waves thank you at them and we don’t open the door til they and their germs are gone. I know, I sound cranky.
Whatever it is, I want some!
My kitties used to do that too, to my horror. I would run screaming from the room and then one of my sweet kids, even when they were only 7 or 8, would rush to my rescue and deal with the serpent invader. I have a snake phobia, so I needed the rescue. Fortunately, in my new-to-me old house, that hasn’t happened. Good thing, cause one of my rescuer kids moved to Texas and the other one to Michigan. How dare they!!!
Good news, glad to hear. I’m usually covered with bruises without being on a blood thinner. Hazard of being clumsy and always in a hurry. Hope all that Stuff keeps going well for yah.
Happy, happy birthday Bob . Loved the videos, thanks for putting them in. He looks like a great pal and so well trained. Keep the stories and pics coming.
Me too. I love this gang. My kids always said I would end up in one
Good morning, campers! It’s still morning here, but if it’s later where you are…good later!
It’s partly NOS with a high of 71 here. Pretty close to perfect, in my book.
I add a dab of horseradish to deviled eggs–just enough to hint at the devil in there.
Mooooom, so sorry about your daughter’s friend’s mom. I don’t envy you having house guests you’re not wild about for a full week. If they really drive you nuts, you could give your daughter some $$$ to take them out to dinner.
Thel, chasing a snake with a broom and dustpan at 5:30 A.M. is not on my bucket list. That snake has quite a tale to tell when he gets back to his…wherever.
hippy, yay on the getting off the blood thinner.
Happy Adoption/Birthday to Bob! I hope he gets a treat or two. I know he’ll get scritchles.
Well, the snake was lying somewhat defeated on the hall rug. I used a hand brush like this to sweep it into a dustpan and held it in place with the brush while I sped to the back door to return it to the wild. When I lived in the country, I found snakes in the house a couple of times. Bigger ones than this. I was definitely not inclined to go chasing them with a broom. Both times I ignored them and avoided that part of the house and eventually (I guess) they left the same way they came in.
Unfortunately, none of us can risk exposure to plague. FCD is still recuperating from his surgery and Daughter’s friend has a host of health issues. And we certainly don’t need them bringing anything home to the kidlet. Best I can do is tell them to have a pizza party in the basement!
And for all who may have missed the link in the past, here’s where you can find lots of recipes we’ve shared over the years: Mumpers Recipes There’s no easy way to search it, but it’s pretty simple to scroll thru each category.
I half-dozed in the recliner. Now I’m up again. Now what…
The Horseshoe was well received here. I wish I had a EVO, but the local weather is not conductive to an outside kitchen.
I too am a finicky eater. The onion family, in more than homeopathic doses causes strange noises to appear. We shan’t discuss what happens when anything with pepper or hot in the name is used. Not polite in mixed company. Most anything green has been in the fridge way too long.
I got 6 rides on Orion in an hour first thing this morning, hung out with friends, had our group lunch, rode a bunch of other things and got beat up by The Beast (damn those back wheels). Came back to my room because my knee was unhappy. An excellent day!
Howdy Y’all! We had fun frolickin’ in the cee-mint pond. Well, we frolicked as much as could be expected of four grumpy old gay/gray men. Actually, that would be more frolickin’ than most men over sixty would do, I suppose. Then we heard thunder rumbles so we retreated to da cave but alas no rain as of yet. Anywho, chikin got grilled and grilled chikin, sallit, cheesey garlic bread and water melon got et. JDD and Partner have gone back to their place, thus chillage ensues for the rest of the day. All in all, a nice day.
MOOOOOOM sorry about your daughter’s friend’s mom and havin’ to put up with a house guest
you don’t like a lot.
Hippie yay for bein’ off the blood thinners. Anytime the doc says cut out a med is a good time!
Thel about the snake. I do not like findin’ snakes around da cave. Fortunately OYKW will deal with any snakeage.
Miss_Owl so glad you had an excellent day!
red no spiked water melon today. We did that on the Fourth of July.
We’re a gang? Can we get leather jackets and walk around snappin’ our fingers? That’s as close as I can find for snappin’ fingers.
I put a few drops of honey in deviled aigs. That started as an accident a loooooooooong time ago when I knocked the honey bear into deviled aig mixture and the lid was loose on honey bear so some honey got in the mixture. They were a hit, however, so I’ve done it ever since. One can do pretty much whatever floats yer boat with deviled aigs.
I’ve substituted ranch dressing for mayo, so I think tartar sauce would work just fine.
We decided that our Chinese food had been sitting a while. Usually my broccoli is nice and crisp, but today it was on the soggier side. And FCD said his General Tso’s was dried out. It was edible, but not nearly as good as we’re used to having. Still, it filled a void, so there’s that.
Daughter just took Roxy to a park to run off some energy. FCD is working… again… I’m going to play some stoopit games on the tablet for a while. The sun is shining, so I’m hopeful that I can mow tomorrow.
Last time I made deviled eggs, I somehow went with the “if a little is good, more must be better!” theory, with the horseradish (which in my defense is such a pale color, you can’t really see it) and the resulting eggs were just this side of inedible.
We got to the dog park a bit early today and the Low Rider Crew wasn’t there yet. Nelson did get to play with his buddies Ollie (toy poodle) and Bosco (schnauzer mix) for a bit.
Salad, tunafish, cheese and crackers for supper. I’m binging The Outlaws documenting the Hell’s Angels. It’s interesting. I’ve known a couple of guys affiliated with the club and it gives some insight.
Evening all. Watered the front yard before dusk, will get out tomorrow morning and do the back yard. This should guarantee a heavy rainstorm within 48 hours… Watched golf and soccer in the afternoon. Big Bowl O’Pasta is now digesting and all is right with the world.
Bats, I’ve followed that thread on you and Bob and it always makes me grin. May you both enjoy each other’s company for many for birthdays.
Thel, glad you were able to get rid of the tiny snake. As for your previous house, someday the owners will be tearing out drywall for something and…
OW, WHEEEEEEEEE!!! Glad you had such a great day.
Swampy, I’ll do the grumpy, you just go ahead and frolic…
Alien, I can handle onions cooked into my burger (like White Castles) or small amounts in my salad, but otherwise…
Nut, a query; how can you tell if bees are ‘tetchy’? Do they tell you to get off their lawn?
Hippy, good news on the medication and the bruises both going away.
Take call all and catch you on Sunday. Now back to internettin’ and readin’.
I vowed (or is that NOV–Not Our Vow?) I wouldn’t complain about my eye situation any more, but I can’t sleep and am going crazy. (I know, I know: short trip. Ha! ) I’m about 90% sure I popped another stitch. A month ago when this happened, the doc told me I shouldn’t have waited to come in. (They were closed for the long weekend, then I couldn’t get an appointment.) He said I should have talked to the on-call doctor. I hate to bother anyone on a Sunday, plus what if the on-call doc isn’t too adept at removing corneal sutures?
Maybe if I go mutter to myself awhile, I’ll figure out what I’m going to do.
Call the on-call doctor. Be clear about what has happened and that your doctor told you he/she wished you had called the previous time something similar happened.
I’m a nurse, I’ve also had eye surgeries and several significant eye medical conditions. One of those injuries I made much worse because I didn’t press the issue or seek care for several days (hadn’t been to nursing school yet). My advice is call the on call doctor if you are worried. Eyes are in a special category, delays can do harm, quick treatment might be needed, not wait-til-Monday-morning treatment.
The on call doctor won’t be upset with you if it turns out he/she talks with you and they decide you don’t need to be seen-they will just be glad you checked. That’s why someone is on call.
If the doctor isn’t good at corneal sutures they will be darn sure to get you to someone who is-quickly.
