I use frozen, prepared, and canned stuff, so purists may want to steer clear. My life as a cook changed the day I discovered frozen chopped onions! <Cue choirs of angels singing.> My current strategy is to make something in the IP twice a week-ish that will last for 2-3 days. Then I can DoorDash or otherwise fake it on the other days. If I wind up making too much (which is very easy to do with the IP), I will give a portion or two to one of my neighbors. Not so inclined to freeze–sometimes you don’t want to look in the freezer and see all those sincere yet forlorn plastic containers lined up in a row.
BTW, I use Pepperplate to corral my recipes. I have it on my computer, my phone, and my kindle, and all three are synced over wifi. You can save recipes from the internet or enter them manually from a cookbook or other source. With a click, you create a shopping list (with the items arranged by recipe or by aisle) then take your phone to the store with the list and the recipe right there in your hand. Finally an effortless way to save recipes and instantly create a shopping list.
My chicken-mushroom thing is not particularly low-carb, and I believe a feel a nap creeping over…
Afternoon all. Mis-delivered mail has been delivered, water bill is paid, and everyone at Cracker Barrel were masked as required. Only thing wrong is that they didn’t have the usual soda bottles in ice by the hostess station, so no sneaking some Hershey’s bars pre-dinner.
And yes, we did get (albeit only a few drops) of rain, so my lawn-watering had its usual effect.
swampy, glad all went well. Hope next Sunday is just as smooth.
FCM, you really think FCD will be happy to be just a tool wrangler? We’ll see.
flyboy, at a guess a local transformer blew. Sounds like they’re working it.
Boo, enjoy the day with grandchild. And people need to be less serious at least some of the time.
Oh, just got a Facebook note that a friend of mine’s pittie has a heart problem and needs help quickly or they’ll have to have him put down. Money is tight, so I made a good donation.
Only thing I can think of is that you paypal it to me and I make the donation. I think there is a PM system with this Discourse. Oh, BTW, you are a damn decent human being–but then you’re a MMP’er, so I repeat myself…
Turns out SIL did most of the terlit installation. I disconnected the old one and FCD helped me get it on a dolly to move to the garage. Right about that time, SIL got home from a convenience center run. I finished cleaning the floor and he moved the new terlet down the hall. Then he pretty much did the installation with me telling him what had to be done and handing him hardware and tools.
The only thing we didn’t have was the proper length supply line. The new terlit is one of the tall models and the old supply line was about an inch short. So I ran to the hardware store while SIL installed the seat. Once I got back, I put on the new supply line and hooked it up - no leaks! YAY! SIL came upstairs to see if I needed any more help, and I gave him the wet and dry rags to take back to the basement while I put the tools away.
Then I drove John Deere around the back yard because the grass was ridiculously high. I’ll do the push mowing in the morning.
Summary: slip covers on recliner, vacuuming, new terlit, mowage. Go me!!! It’s been a good day!
I didn’t even notice the earthquake this morning. They’ve been blasting at the Mile Away From Me Quarry all week so I’ve learned to ignore the house shaking. The cats didn’t seem to notice anything either, but Irish Dad said he felt it near Lake Lure.
We’re giving up our practice office, which has been an expensive book depository since we stopped seeing clients on site in early March. The landlord is cutting us a 50/50 deal (we pay 50% of what we’d owe through the end of the lease at the end of next February). I’m waiting on a rental agreement on a new, very small, less expensive book depository of an office before renting a moving van. We’ll be giving away or donating most of the furniture and plants. Professional books will go in two groups–retain vs. sell/donate. My lovely wife is unlikely to return to in-person practice more than 1 day a week, since she was to retire except for a few people who are doing longer-term work at the end of the lease. This will save us money after February, but it’s more schlep, negotiation, and being near other people, not to mention replacing business cards, and notifying insurers, our own insurer, the licensing board, etc. I may go pack up more books this evening.
Midsummer garden clearing and planting of the next crop is done. I have some larger landscaping and clean-up tasks to do now. One of these months I’ll get to the new sewing machine.
ive spent the weekend trying not to unleash a holy hell on my aunts scumbag siblings…
Now without going back through 50 years of bs with that side of the family heres what happened
Ok aunts mom passed a few months ago and left a will …aunt was counting on getting money from the house to help with buying us a house since were getting hosed on where we currently live due to the owners spoiled brat of a manchild deciding he wants the house … and mommy is giving it to him despite what the dad who owns the house wants
WEll a year or two before she passed great aunt kept mentioning she needed to redo/update the will but for various reasons/excuses (not all of her fault) it never happened and despite great aunt thinking everything was equally divided … it ended up being not and one side of the family is getting the 500k+ by using how the will was worded
What makes it worse is i know exactly why it was worded the way it was the main party said "oh you don’t have to put everyone on the will … ill make sure its all divided fairly "
So heres aunt thinking she was going to get treated fairly by them for once in her life is getting royally f***ed over once again like she always has … normally shed sigh and say well that’s them but they had been talking to her saying "everyone’s going to get their share and such " DAILY
Thank you for all the support! The eye feels a little better today, and for reasons I’ll get to, I’d rather wait until tomorrow to go in. And doggio, I think leaving the stitches in is common practice, but I DO recall waking up after the surgery and hearing, “It’s alive!”
I’m so, so tired. I finally got to sleep sometime after 1 a.m. At 4 a.m., I was awakened by my neighbor standing outside, yelling LOUDLY for her dogs. Pretty sure she woke up the entire complex, especially when she tried using the rebel yell. This went on for half an hour. There’s a strict leash law in the complex–$50 fine per dog, per incident. There are also quiet hours.
The second show started at 6 a.m., except this time, she added the cat. The cat, being a cat, ignored her. I heard a guy calmly call to her, to which she loudly replied that the animals were only peeing and not in his apartment. He must’ve said something about the leash rule because she said, “I have a leash right here.” Then she went back to yelling for the animals (mostly the cat) for the next hour. I couldn’t get back to sleep after the 4 a.m. incident, hence my grogginess. If I nap, I’ll be awake late, plus I hate that groggy post-nap feeling.
Thel, that recipe sounds like a keeper. I"m all for easy and yummy, and that fits the bill.
Mooooom, yay for having to plan for one less meal. Congrats on the new terlit. Has it been christened yet?
It’s undoubtedly my sleep-addled state, but how does no soda bottles on ice = no sneaking Hershey bars? What am I missing?
metal mouse, either you sent the rain my way or my watering the patio plants today brought it on. I just heard the thunder. Good on you for the donation for the pittie.
Probate and family feuds suck shady.
Chores are done, supper is et (the stuffed zucchini hit the spot) and once KP is done, I’ll play some more in the studio.
Deja vu all over again. Heard funny noises in the dining room. Tikva had a lizard cornered behind a box. Sigh. I picked it up in a dish towel and returned it to the wild.
When we lived in FL, my daughter was the official critter catcher-and-returner-to-the-wild. It’s not that I don’t like touching critters - it’s that I wasn’t nearly quick enough to nab 'em.
The day is winding down. Catch you in the next MMP!
