Battlestar Galactica 2.20 — "Lay Down Your Burdens, Pt 2" (the spoilers have a plan)

Very good point. “Help us liberate Caprica because you kid is down there.” Very good idea.

So…what happened to Zarek? Boomer? Dean Stockwell and Twin?

Do we know for certain that the Six with Our Toaster Overlords is Caprica Six and not GinaSix? She seemed to know with pretty damned much certainty that it was a Six that set off the nuke.

I, personally, am not worried about this yet. I think it has huge potential. But it’s amazing to see how quickly people are whining and jumping ship. Too bad for them, I guess.

I’ve got to say that I’m disappointed in my man Felix, however. Screwing up the election fraud AND joining Baltar? Bad boy! Bad bad boy!

Lots of bitching, and I think it’s mostly just bitching. Anyone who mentions a ‘shark’ is someone who feels an extra need to bitch.

My own personal complaint? What was the point of the mission to Caprica? Sure, it got Anders back. And? Anyone? Anyone? It seemed like a lot of screentime just to get Dean Stock Mk2 onto Galactica.

Everyone seems to have expected Adama to be the one to remain always battle-ready…but remember too that the man wasn’t young to begin with. And now he’s gotten older. We don’t know why Galactica and Pegasus lost most of their resources. Maybe Baltar just left them with the absolute minimum to keep their ships minimally functional. As a matter of fact, Baltar seemed very interested in EVERYONE settling down there. Presumably to prove that HE was the man, now.

Since there seems to be a dispute…Lee put on some major poundage. Quite chubby - which shows he was quite complacent, too, compared to the washboard-stomach guy we all knew and loved.

Elvis - Roslin’s guard when she was in prison was black. As was her (former) spiritual advisor. And the representative from Gemanon. Besides that, though? (damn you Cervaise) Anyways, the reason it took the Cylons a year to find them is because the EMP from GinaSix’s nuke took a year to travel to the spot where the Cylon flet actually was. Understand?

-Joe, looking forward to #3

Regarding the number of Blacks on the show, most of you are numbering off specific characters, but I’ve seen lots & lots of Blacks in the backgrounds of scenes, walking along hallways, etc.

I’m actually surprised at the number of Blacks though, since the show is shot in Canada and as far as I can tell, Blacks don’t even make 1%, or show up as a demographic blip. But the show is marketed to the US mainly, I guess. Are there significantly more Blacks in the Vancouver area than the rest of Canada?

So if we’re all about diversity, where are the frakin’ gays? (I’ll try not to harp on this more than a couple/few times per season)

They rescued the resistance fighters who will set up a movement on New Caprica.
Assuming that Starbuck’s Main Squeeze doesn’t croak, of course.

Haven’t some people suggested Apollo is gay?

Good point. I guess experienced guerilla fighters could be handy.

-Joe

Speaking of Sammy, who was the guy visiting him on his sick bed looking for Starbuck?
Is the reistance movement forming already?

Were I the Cylon in Charge, (CIC) I’d round up all the military or former military people like Starbuck, Tigh and the Chief.

I think that was the Cylon that Starbuck interrogated, and Roslyn sent out the airlock.

If he is than Dualla’s one helluva drag queen! While making an issue of the week about a charactor being gay would be a mistake for BSG it is frustrating that every single expression of sexuality on the show has been between a man and a woman (or a machine that looks like a woman). That being said I did get the idea that something was going on between Roslin and her aid.

Yup. That was Leoben, my faaaaavorite Cylon. (Due South fan here)

Starbuck tortured him, but in the end, she prayed the gods would carry his soul to wherever it was it needed to go. Apparently they did. Should be cool watching their reunion.

Lee aint Gay, hes just British.

And boy does he ever sound like a whiney little wimp when he speaks with his real accent. He should, proably, always pretend to be a gritty pilot with an American accent.

More likely the Resurrection Ship had caught up by then.

And neat and thin! He’s hit the trifecta!

-Joe

Starbuck needs to be looking for a ride.

It would have been better if he had been carrying a bucket full of water when he asked if Anders had seen Starbuck.

Something I haven’t seen anyone discuss specifically: the introduction of an old meat Cylon.

Up until now, it seemed many of our discussions about “who’s a Cylon” have centered around the younger castmembers because all of the previously revealed meat models have been relatively young and, assumaby, the meat Cylons were a relatively new invention since the last Cylon war. With Dean Stockwell’s character being revealed as a Cylon, all of those older castmembers we’ve assumed couldn’t be Cylons (Adama Sr., Tigh, Roslin, etc.) appear to be back in play.

Also, Dean’s model has got to be over 40 years old. Either the meat Cylons do have some accelerated growth/aging over humans or they’ve been around since before the end of the last Cylon war(?!).

Interview with Ron Moore about the direction of season three. Fairly general but still significant spoilers abound. If you want some clues about why they jumped forward the way they did, it’s a must-read.

If you decide to post and discuss excerpts from the interview, please spoiler-box them.

More like the Cylons showed up and no hell broke loose. They took over New Caprica without a shot fired, which I found to be terribly boring.

Well, thank god for that. I hope it’s accurate, because the thing I liked least about the show thus far was the continual cutting back to Old Caprica.

I think they grow the old. I can’t explain my logic too well, but, basically, if they CAN’T grow them old, then every single Six, Sharon, and other model out there had a finite number of “clones” grown beginning at exactly the same moment. Otherwise there would have to be younger and older variations.

If nothing else, all our Cylon meatbags would be aging while still on the shelf. What do you do in sixty years? Now all your meatbags are probably DOA.

Scupper - maybe it would have been more accurate to say that “All hell is about to break loose.” Not a shot fired. Kind of like (again) the Nazis rolling into Paris. Now there will be a resistance.

-Joe

I think the limited number of models is related to the limited number of human females they’ve been able to harvest viable ova from, as the raw material for Cylonizing them. We know they can’t fertilize them themselves in the traditional mammalian way, so they Cylonizing process has to include that in a lab setting. They’re clones, yes, but of the original human female breeding stock. Which might mean we’ll see the rescue of the human Mama Six and Mama Boomer someday?

I had thought they all looked about the same age because that reflected the time the smarter toasters figured out the technology. No explanation for Stockwell’s appearance except that he’s a great choice for the part. I’m willing to overlook an occasional niggling continuity problem in the cause of good acting.

In the behind-the-scenes show before the first episode, Bamber was bitching (good-naturedly) to Callis about being the only cast member who has to hold an accent. Not that it’s hard; his father is a Yank, and he’s probably been able to talk like one his whole life.
