I think the BART rule is a bit too limiting. Granted, the Sunset District isn’t the center of culture in San Francisco, but there’s a whole lot more to see and do than what’s above a BART Station. Noe Valley, Castro, North Beach, and the Wharf (where there are some hidden gems) spring to mind. Maybe some of us would be willing to drive a few folks from a BART station?
As for outdoorsy, but not isolated, there’s Yerba Buena Gardens, behind the Metreon.
OK, that’s a good point Mr. Troy. And, it’s not like there aren’t cabs and whatnot. 
I like the Yerba Buena Gardens idea. Plenty to do there, too. Ice skating in July!
Thirded. And if the weather ends up bad, we can take in a movie and buy some overpriced electronics.

My God…Yerba Buena…that’s fairly genius. There’s bowling there, ice skating, that sculpture of the guy with three hands & three faces. It’s brilliant. Plus, an easy walk from the BART. I’d be into this. Dates, anyone? What if, say, I threw out June 4th around noon or 2? Who could do that?
(Definately not bent on this day, but, well, I know how stuff like this slips thru the cracks unless times are hammered at.
Very perceptive, Birdmonster, I am in Sausalito (although not for much longer - I’m in the middle of an apartment search now).
As far as the day goes, June 4 sounds good… but for me things are in a huge state of flux right now, so that might change.
For place, I do agree that BART access is somewhat limiting, but if it’s a choice between that and not having a lot of folks able to come, I’d choose making it easier for folks to come.
Yerba Buena Gardens sounds good to me too. 4th June is also good, but really almost any weekend would suit me.

I agree. I too am moving to the area in about a month, in fact a town very close to Davis - Vacaville. Are you driving from MA? I am driving from DC. We should try to have another get-together sometime in July too.
Well, t’is no reason there cannot be an event in July or August as well now is there?

I’ll second that having found I am already booked for my best friend’s son’s Birthday Party on Jun 4th (I thought it was this weekend) 
You know, I’ve never been to Yerba Buena gardens or for that matter the Metreon so I’m game. Two or later works for me, anything earlier and I’ll have to practically drag Mrs. Stuffy out of bed.
Since I"m doing the touristy thing, that might be a little early for me, as I have plans to check out a vinyard or two.
