So. Turns out I’m an idiot. I completely forgot this was today, until I got a call from sturmhawke about fifteen minutes ago, trying to locate other Dopers in Yerba Buena Gardens. Small help that was for him, as I was all the way up here in Marin. :smack:

Hrm, so I guess this didn’t happen… except for Sassy and sturmhawke, who haven’t recognized each other.
I had somehow convinced myself that it was tomorrow. Hmmph.
Yeah, available light and I showed up, bummed around for a while looking for people, then gave up and went back home.
I was there and looked for people in silly hats, but didn’t find any. I admit I didn’t wear a silly hat myself - but my hair was wet when I left the house.
Moving along, I’d like to suggest the Fillmore Street Fair, coming up in a few weeks. I will be going, either Saturday or Sunday. If anyone is interested I will pick a time and place to meet. I missed a chance at my first dopefest.
The reality is that I was caught in Monteray Bay way too long, and didn’t get back to San Francisco until about 8:00 PM.
I hated to miss it, but I’m even happier I didn’t haul ass back to town to find out that no one met.

I totally spaced on the date too! June snuck up behind me.
Well I said I couldn’t turn up last saturday, and didn’t because of prior arrangements. So I at least had an excuse 
What day will people actually be able to turn up? I would really like to meet up with some other SF dopers and BAD, and the idea decided for Saturday was a great one. So is another date possible? This time if anyone says they will make it and doesn’t post to say they can’t before the actual date, they’ll get pitted by everyone else, OK.

After a pint or 2 at the 21st Amendment brewery on 2nd Street, I strolled through the Gardens - actually but accidentally wearing a hat (to protect my pale, baldy Irish bonce from the blistering SF sun) - at about 2.45. Having stopped off to check with a mounted policeman what the law is on cycling on the sidewalk in San Francisco (it’s a violation, you swine!), I sought high and low for anyone who might look as if they were looking out for me. But saw nobody and so departed, sad that I’d missed the opportunity to interconnect with my Doper brethren across the Atlantic.
There was some sort of Israeli festival being set up as well, which confused the hell out of me.
Ah, well. Maybe next time.
Still, I managed to have a whale of a time in San Francisco without you, particularly during and immediately after my 3 visits to the Toronado bar on Haight & Filmore. What a marvellous pub! What a selection of beers! Including a few on hand-pumps!
