The episode was IMHO a bit meh (although I did like Emily’s smile at the end), but of more note this is the second week in a row that BBT has move from threads “created in anticipation of” to someone creating one the next day.
It was just a “meh” episode, as you said. Not a lot to say about it. But we are definitely skipping next week’s episode. A Very Special Episode? Forget it!
Maybe people are getting sick of saying it is the worst episode ever!!
IMO, there were a couple of LOL moments. Sheldon throwing a pie in Leonards face and Raj asking Howard how to fix the drawer. “With pillows and wine glasses”!!
But Raj should have been able to find a legit excuse for opening the drawer. Nail clippers, aspirin. (of course that would not have been funny).
The Amy/Sheldon story was a re-run of Bernadette getting pissed at Howard when he originally said yes to becoming an astronaut.
Raj should have just straight-up admitted to snooping without going to all the garbage he went through. Emily left him alone in her apartment - of course he was going to snoop. Especially into drawers that might hold interesting things like vibrators, etc.
About the only exchange I found funny was “We should probably hang up.” “Yep.” “But we aren’t, are we?” “Nope.”
The fakeout with the pie was pretty good. “PLEASE go to Mars!”
Leonard and Penny’s sex painting didn’t really seem to go anywhere. Though I liked how Leonard referred to “the dirty store.”
Overall, pretty so-so. I think I watch mostly out of affection for the characters rather than for big laughs (which don’t come very often anyway). Mayim Bialik is so good that usually one decent Amy scene is all it takes for me to enjoy an episode.
For some reason my DVR only recorded 8 minutes of this episode, and I simply deleted it and didn’t bother to look online. So I guess I am losing interest.
A fairly “meh” episode, although I enjoyed Sheldon’s application video. The Colonize Mars thing is real (I’ve heard about it in a few places now), and kind of weird. There really are people applying to go to Mars and stay there for the rest of their lives.
The vanity card at the end of the episode made it all worth it.
I had a problem with the pie scene. We were viewing the video shot by Sheldon; we couldn’t see the pie because it wasn’t within the field of view of Sheldon’s camera, and so it was a surprise to us. But why couldn’t Leonard see it? If he saw Sheldon coming at him with a video camera in one hand and the other hand behind his back, Leonard would know something was up.
Well, it’s the “partner going too” thing that’s the rub, isn’t it?
They talked about it not too long ago on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. One of the guests was a woman who is in training for a one-way trip to Mars. Her husband is not. She said that they had talked about it, and were both totally on board with her spending the rest of her life on another planet, while he stayed on Earth. She seemed genuinely puzzled that anyone would find that unusual.
The way I remember the scene is that Leonard is engrossed in whatever he’s doing on his computer at the time and doesn’t really look Sheldon’s way. Even when he opens the peanut brittle he’s not looking toward Sheldon.
Eh… the actual likelihood of that actually happening is so close to zero that if I was her husband, I’d be more worried about a wreck on the way to training, or on the way to the grocery store.
