Ooh, we have cygnets! Or at least we have one. Out of five eggs, there’s one absolutely adorable (yes, I will get pics) ball of grey fluff, and two unfortunately didn’t make it, and the others I don’t know about yet And I thought that Mr. Swan was grouchy before! I heard earlier he hopped out of the pond and chased an old lady. At least I can move fairly fast, over a short distance! He chased me earlier but one of the nice bell service guys chased him back into the water.
Otherwise, not much happening. Appropriate hugs/boos/whatevers all around.
I just finished doing dishes. Well, there are still dirty dishes in the kitchen, but I spent over an hour washing dishes, and I’m not keen to continue right now. Ethnically Jewish Roommate had a good idea where she put all the plastic stuff in the washing machine (clothes, not dishwasher, we don’t have one), maybe I’ll try that next time.
No idea as to dinner plans. Guy I see sometimes stopped by to see me at work, which confuses me. I keep being confused about our “relationship.”
I’ve decided to renew my declaration from 2001. I’m not watching the news unless it’s the Daily Show, I’m not listening to NPR unless a non-news show is on, and I’m going to make a concerted effort to not care, worry, or give a good goshdarn about world events and money that isn’t mine right now. I am the eternal optimist, I’ve heard end-of-the-world prophecies before. Last I checked, the world was still going and humans have been remarkably resilient.
Now I go to put off rereading The Line of the Sun (aka “Thesis Book #2”) some more by playing with my Neopets.
Home from work with horrid headache. I loves me some chilly weather, but this is a bit much.
Sorry to hear about your family member, Nava.
I had to do “service recovery” today for a pt when the surgeon was 4 hours late. Gah. I put it all on the surgeon–he may well have had an emergency elsewhere, but he could call back (or have someone call back for him). This ain’t rocket science, it’s just courtesy.
Another day of joy tomorrow. Annoying coworker is back from her country of origin and is still not talking to me. I would confront her, but know she will deny any non-speaking, so to speak. I am really irked by passive-aggressive people.
Cygnets are too cute! And be VERY leery of mama and papa swan–they are very fierce and don’t believe in second chances.
Hello everyone. My work week is finally over. Hurray!
I’m keeping your cousin in my thoughts Nava.
I managed to get an appointment for my daughter to get an updo on Saturday afternoon. Then we’ll rush home, get her dressed up in prom stuff, made up, and then she’ll be off for the big do in Seattle.
We were informed yesterday that we need to be in attendance for a scholarship thing-a-majig on on June 4th. She must dress professionally. We’re very proud of her.
Swampy, you are one incredible neighbor. I’d love to have a neighbor like you.
Hmmm, not much else going on. We’re just waiting on our friend to call so we can go work out at the Y. I need to work really hard tonight because I wasn’t doing so well Tuesday night. I started feeling pretty sick, so I just kind of dragged through the workout. I feel much better today, so I plan to hit it hard.
I’m so glad I’m not the only person who loves Craftster. And you guys just reminded me that I have free time and access to fabric, so I may pull out the sewing machine and get it running this month. Wo0t! I don’t really know if I could pull off the t-shirt dress look, though, and I know that empire waists are not too good for my figure. Maybe I’ll start by taking in that russet colored dress I’ve got that’s still too big, and setting up some old t-shirts to do service as bra replacements for when I get that tattoo…
Nava, I hope that things go well with your cousin. That’s gotta be a bit scary!
Swampy, I think it’s great what you did for your neighbor, and I can understand your frustrations with his repetitive questions. I occasionally get customers who are not entirely mentally functional and it can be frustrating at times to help them get what they want or need.
Nava, I will be keeping your cousin in my thoughts, along with you and yours. I hope he comes home soon, safe and sound.
Cute dress, LiLi. Your dad looks the same as I remember… but thinner. Guess we know where you got those ageless genes from (and possibly that extra 25 lbs), huh?
Nashii, I’m horrendously jealous of your prolific garden. I’m still doing daily prayers over my little tomater seedlings and carefully watching for sprouts in the bean patch, but no such luck. Stupid unseasonably cold and rainy spring… grumblegrumblegrumble.
There was a rather loud noise coming from the weapons station a few minutes ago - sort of cross between a boom and a crash. No plume of smoke, at least. This comes after hearing train horns throughout the evening. I can only assume they’ve been moving munitions around and one may have gotten away.
If anything really bad does happen, I’m at least on the other side of a hill that protected the area from the Port Chicago explosion 60-some years ago.
Nothing in the news yet. I think it’s time for some ice cream.
I’m awake because Keith Olbermann caught me again, damn him!
I get to drive my daughter’s family to the airport tomorrow, they’re visiting in Cali this weekend and we’re babysitting the dog. This should be fun–poor Widget will be a dishrag by Monday. That little bitch just wears him out!
In other news, skiffman is home from the halibut trip, he brought some 'but home, and when they deliver tomorrow he is gonna bring home some 'but cheeks, yum! Also, I have a pair of pork-on-a-sticks next to me, and dayum, are they good! Skiffman is very tired and bordering on cranky, I need to put him to bed when he gets out of the shower.
In puppy news, I had to put together a new box for them. The first was constructed when Tara was very pregnant, so the entry was cut quite low. The puppies have easily doubled in size, and when Tara decides that mealtime is over and tries to jump out of the box, she has been dragging one or two of the puppies with her. . . not a good thing. Their eyes should be opening next week, and I will update photos of them when that happens.
In garden news, it’s not warm enough to plant here yet.
I just got back from the new Indy movie a little while ago. It was pretty good, despite a couple of dumb parts. Cate Blanchett makes a good hardass KGB agent.
Also, my ego demands that someone make my chili recipe already!
