Because We Can Never Get Enough… It’s A Monty Python MMP

Hi all!

Seems more hugs are needed - {{{MMP}}}

We slept in until 6:20! Woo and hoo! That’s actually not too bad. Breakfast has been eaten, and I’ve been cleaning. I’m listening to Mr Rebo talking to himself and cussing. He’s accomplished a lot in two hours!

Gotta do some laundry, and more cleaning, and grocery shopping. Dinner will be beer butt chicken, baked beans, cole slaw and fresh corn on the cob. Yum!

Later, Mumpers. Feel better, all of you! That’s an order!

Kiddo, I’m so sorry.

Try a cool wash cloth… helps me when I’ve been crying a lot, too.

{{Pie}} I agree about the cool wash cloth. Also, put some moisturizer around your eyes. Even if you cry it all off again, it’ll help a lot with the swelling. I’m sorry you’re feeling so down, hon.

Papa Tigs was extra-kind and let me sleep myself out this morning, so I’m still looking at my workload today and going, “Bleah.” I’ll get to it pretty soon, but right now I just have trouble being bothered – it’s a gorgeous sunny day, the trees outside my windows are green, and the air is soft and comfortable. At least, now that I finally made Papa Tigs get a new barbecue grill this spring, he’s going to be grilling yummy food this weekend. Tomorrow it’s a heavenly Filipino spiced meat, tocino, which he makes with thinly sliced flank steak instead of pork – yumm! He may go down to the Mall for Rolling Thunder, too; even though he’s not a biker these days, he’s still got a lot of friends who are and, as a Vietnam vet, he likes to visit the Wall on Memorial Day whenever he can. I’ll stay home and work. :frowning: But that’s okay; I visited the Wall on Memorial Day once, and it was just too heart-wrenching. Papa Tigs has a cousin and 26 friends on the Wall, so he prefers to go down there and cry by himself. I don’t blame him.

Time to go be a good girl. Sigh.

It is amazing what people spend on babies isn’t it?

Not that I’m completely immune (says the one who knit her son a sweater out of Rowan Cashsoft aran… but he got lots of wear out of it in the summer/fall and layered in the winter, he wasn’t growing that fast when I made it and now I’m making him another one from Dream in Color which is a bit cheaper, but just as nice IMO…).

One of the ladies from work shops at Holt Renfrew for her Granddaughter. My son? He gets the majority of his clothes and hand-me-downs from cousins a year older, the Tykes and Tots fair (lots of good second hand clothing, toys, etc) and the local consignment stores. Otherwise, he gets Wal-mart, Old Navy and The Children’s Place (when I can find anything I like there) on sale.

We didn’t really do booties, but we did have a pair of Robeez, He was the third or fourth wearer, and I pass them on to a friend afterwards as they were still in wonderful condition.

The Guy rang my doorbell last night about ten minutes after I posted - I wavered between being happy to see him and annoyed that he didn’t even call to make sure I wasn’t asleep, but decided on the former. We talked a bit about stuff. I think the reality of me leaving and us contemplating this whole visa thing is starting to scare both of us. I’m still terrified he’s going to change his mind after I leave. I told him yesterday that I’d rather he tell me before I left if he was having second thoughts. I think I wanted to hear some kind of reassurance that he wasn’t, but all he said was, “Okay.” Fair enough, I suppose.

Suppose I should finish baking the tart. Will report back.

:: hugs for Pie ::

I’m a little bit better now, thanks. But it’s been one hell of a morning. My mom (who should now be sainted) helped me work on pricing out a menu which is my very least favorite thing in the world to do because it’s just so damn tedious. It’s finally done except for printing it out and making it look pretty but it was pretty ugly there for awhile with yelling, screaming, crying, etc. Also, TVMan called and was not really very helpful. He didn’t do anything wrong, in particular, but in trying to make me feel better, he kinda made me feel worse. But I’m fairly sure that’s just a man thing. The kind of response that you give to a crying female because you’re nervous and don’t know what the right thing to say is anyways. But, if I can get myself together I may just go back to TVLand tonight because Indiana Jones is playing at the Triple Drive-In and it would be fun to go see it.

Glad you’re a bit better, Pie.
We have four pairs of Robeez. One fits now, three are second-hand, and the new ones are from Nat’s godparents. I’m starting to sort the kid’s stuff for exchange, and girls’ clothes are so cute! I have, oh, five or six things I’m keeping in hopes of a daughter. I’m working on some kind of huge rationalisation for keeping them. We’ll eventually produce a girl. Probably. Out of the seventeen babiess we’re going to have (kidding! Although pregnancy memories are fading enough that I’m thinking four or five would be nice.)

Good morning everyone.

I ended up staying in bed late again because I couldn’t sleep for shit again during the night due to the itchies. Good Lord! I’m going to go insane.

Li-Li, hugs to you, your family and friend. I hope that he improves quickly.

Pie, I hope things are improving for you too.

rosie, hope the stomach bug passes quickly.

My daughter looked absolutely stunning yesterday. As soon as I get the the little card reader thing down here, I’ll try to post some pics. She had a great time, but was home way earlier than we expected. She and her date had dinner at the Yarrow Bay Grill, which is supposed to be a really good restaurant. It better be, the dinner bill was $81.00 for two of them!

They didn’t stay at the dance until the end because, as she told us, “You can only dance and listen to hard core rap for so long”. She’s not a fan of rap music to begin with.

At any rate, that’s finally over and now we move to the next senior activity.

I’m hoping that today or tomorrow I can buy some new duds for me. I would love to get a haircut and color job too, especially now that I’ve found my regular girl again.

I need another cup o’joe. Talk you later!

Alright, I know it’s bad form to post twice in a row, but I have some pictures loaded of my daughter.

These aren’t all of them, but for some reason Flickr didn’t upload all the photos I selected.

Here’s the linky-poo:

Tater’s daughter

ETA: I didn’t edit any of the pictures yet. Doing that now on my computer, so some could have had better resolution or brightness.

Aw, she and her date look so sweet together. I love her jewelry!

I’ve finished the tart, but haven’t tasted it yet. It’s in the fridge, awaiting guests. I think I messed up the crust a bit - I didn’t roll it out quite thin enough, and I forgot to poke holes in it before baking. Ah well.

I had some of the cream filling and berries left over - absolutely divine. I might just make the cream filling seperately to have with fresh berries. (It’s rather decadent though - heavy cream and mascarpone cheese!)

Nice pics, Taters!

I’m done with my basement work. SIL went with me to discard trash and recycling - he needs to learn where the place is so we can all share the trash/recycling burden. The kids are hauling their stuff down to the basement for now. I’ve made some cucumber-onion salad, and I’m about to mix up a batch of teriyaki marinade. I’ve got poke chops marinating in BBQ sauce for supper. I’ve also got 2 more quarts of local strawberries to hull. I’m so domestical…

I need to trim my fingernails - they’re long enough to inflict pain upon my person. And that wouldn’t be good.

Back to the kitchen with me…

I’ve got a recipe to add to the collection. Super easy, super yum!

Teriyaki marinade

1/2 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tsp sugar or equivalent artificial sweetener
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

Shake it all together. It’s good on chicken, pork, shrimp, heck, all kinds of things. Best when marinated overnight.

If you make a bigger batch, it keeps a loooooong time in the fridge.
I just made a triple of the recipe to have it on hand. I’d have made more, but I ran out of the vinegar.

Taters, I LOVE your daughters dress! She is beautiful and her jewelry is georgous! What great pictures. Oh and check your email here in a couple minutes.

Thanks MCUNE! I received your e-mail and replied.

The funny thing about that dress is that my daughter didn’t like it when she saw it hanging up. I finally convinced her to try it on and she fell in love with it. I kept bringing her other dresses to try on, but she always went back to that one. It figures, it was the most expensive one of the lot! It was well worth it though.

I have managed to get myself cleaned up finally. The itching is now coming and going. I wish it would just GO THE HELL AWAY! Cheerist on a pogo stick this is ridiculous.

Oh, re: the jewelry. It’s not what either of us had in mind, but it worked out beautifully, didn’t it. That’s actually two necklaces. The one on top we bought at the mall, and the other is one that mother brought over for her. When she put the first necklace on, I suggested she put the other on too, to give it more depth.

Aww, prom pictures – they look so cute and grown-up! What happened to staying out all night drinking after prom, though? :dubious: Are kids today getting – gasp – sensible?

We just went out and found me a new keyboard. My second new keyboard in as many months. When my old CompUSA one died and I discovered they’d gone out of business and are just struggling to come back and not making them any more, I was devastated – I’m insanely particular about my keyboards. Ergonomic is only the beginning. I broke down and bought a Microsoft one, first MS keyboard I’ve actually bought since they first came out with ergonomic, and although the key touch on this one was at least decent (the original one required nearly hitting the keys with a hammer to get them to register), the space bar required a real whomp, and my poor thumb joint got so sore I was afraid I’d need to go in and get it replaced like I already did my other one. But then I realized that a new keyboard would be cheaper and easier than surgery (duh-hey!), so off I went and found a Logitech that has a nice touch. I’m still not sure about the End key placement – it’s in a really funky place, and I keep hitting other keys instead of it – but I’ll get used to it eventually, I guess. I do hate adjusting to a new keyboard, but in this case I didn’t have much choice.

Is it bedtime yet?

My daughter’s date was the out of state friend. He flew all the way from Missouri just to take her to the Senior Ball. This is the infamous friend that caused much uproar and consternation between my husband, daughter and I last year.

He graduated from college last spring and now, by all accounts, seems to have a pretty decent job.

As we were outside snapping pictures yesterday, one of my friends and her daughter happened by. My friend told my daughter and her friend they looked like they were getting married. The friend’s response made my eyebrows go up a notch or three. He said, “Well, we’re not getting married…yet.”

To my credit, I didn’t say anything; I just kept snapping pictures.

Ow.

Pretty much all of me hurts.

Yard work.

Ow.

You forgot the mayo. :stuck_out_tongue:

<directing The Look at Haze>

:stuck_out_tongue:

Forgot to mention earlier - daughter and I are going to get our picture re-done tomorrow morning. Yay!

More hugs for everyone, especially Pie. I saw Indiana Jones Friday night. It was fun!

Your daughter looks lovely, Taters. Nice pics of you, too. Hope the itching subsides soon.

I’m back from a plant-shopping marathon. I think we left my friend’s house around noon and got back around 4:30. We stopped at 3 different places. Found some cool stuff, so that was OK.

Now I’m going back into the garden for a bit. Need to mow, prune more evergreens, continue the blackberry removal project, and maybe pot up some containers. We’ll see what I can bet done in 2 1/2 hours or so.

Tomorrow, we’re planting at church and then, depending on the weather, I’ll do some more in my garden or do a generalized spring cleaning indoors. Why, yes, I *do * lead an exciting life.

Back after a bit…
