I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I dumped the pasta in and boiled it WITH the water. :smack:
I’m seriously tempted to throw it out. The texture is weird.

Howdy Y’all! Still feelin’ teh sick here. I didn’t go to church today. However, I have allowed that ol y’all know who can come over for a while, so he’s on his way. I’m hongry, so when he gets here we’ll grill steaks. Steak, baked N.O.T. (which I’ve already baked) and sallit sounds good. No huggy, wuggy, squeezy though cause I feel like I’m still germy. Be nice to see the critter though.
Feel better BioRosie, Pie, MBG and all others who feel poorly for whatever reason.
Taters the pics are the jakiest. Daughter looks lurvely.
Is it this one? We just got one yesterday, and I hooked it up today. It’s kind of weird, especially the delete key. But I can’t really type, so it shouoldn’t be that big a deal for me. I love the mouse! My old mouse you about had to beat the left click button, and forget cutting and pasting. I couldn’t play Spider (the card game) - it would drop the damn cards.
Taters, your daughter is gorgeous, as are you!
Haze, one time I was making a spaghetti sauce with meat, and dropped the RAW hamburger into the tomato sauce. I was only 12 at the time, though.
My mom freaked! It came out ok.
I got the office all dusted and accumulated papers sorted and ready for filing tomorrow. It looks much better in here!
The chicken is nestled on its beer can and on the grill. Apple pie is in the oven. Most of the laundry is done.
I’ve been productive!
ETA: I wanted to tell y’all I cooked the giblets from the chicken for the dogs - they’re so spoiled! ![]()
It’s the ergonomic version of that one – this one, to be specific – but I’m not using the mouse. I have my trusty Logitech USB trackball mouse that I can use with my left hand and not get my wrist involved, so I’m ignoring the mouse that came with the keyboard. I’m fussy about my rodents, too. Yes, I know I’m weird.
Off to get some work done, and sort out my photos that I finally got off my camera – hey, I took over 200 of them while I was in Idaho! – so that I can write tomorrow’s MMP and illustrate it appropriately.
I just got off work and am eating my first meal of the day - a roast-beef sandwich. See, I had to be to work today at noon, because that’s when the pharmacy opens, you see. So at 12:07, I get a call from work, and go
“do they want me to come in early?” and almost ignored it, but picked up out of politeness.
“Hey, what are you doing.”
“Nothing, I was asleep. OH JESUS CHRIST I’LL BE THERE ASAP!”
I guess this is God punishing me for being the only person back there who doesn’t go to church every Sunday morning (which is why we don’t open until noon).
Well, I guess we’re going to go see Prince Caspian. He doesn’t like Harrison Ford.
As for me, I’m not feeling better. I haven’t gone more than an hour or so without crying today and it scares me. I haven’t been this far off kilter in a couple of years. If it continues I guess I’ll call the new psychiatrist that I can’t stand.
What’s wrong with that? I always boil the pasta and water together. I have no patience.
Pie, I saw Caspian on Sunday and loved it. It’s not like the book, but I see the movies and the books as different versions of the same story. If I wanted to see a faithful adaptation, the BBC did it in 1989 and they got the wrong kid entirely to play Caspian. (Blond curls? BLOND CURLS? Jesus wept.)
Hey, all. Sorry, but didn’t read. I’ve been gardening like a maniac. Oh, and making fudge–so much for losing weight. I did use fat free sweetened condensed milk (like that’s gonna help at all).
I went shopping with Daughter today for a white dress for graduation. We found a reasonably priced one at Carson’s. Found a gorgeous, but VERY unreasonably, priced one at Macy’s ($320). Luckily for my will power and our budget, they only had a size 2. Phew…
I got some funky strappy black sandals to go with that shift dress that I’m now wearing to her graduation. Not much else to add here. Haven’t started looking for a job in the library yet. I need to get my resume together.
Hope all are having a good weekend.
Supper was nummy. I do grill a good steak. Anywho, we ate, sat around for a bit talkin’, hugged and ol’ y’all know who went back to his place. He didn’t wanna and I really didn’t want him to, but… I still think I could be contagious and as much as I wanted him to stay, I don’t want to make him sick even more. I’m so responsible!
Also, I just took some night time sleepy meds. I’m startin’ to feel the effects.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
Taters, thanks for sharing your beautiful pix of your daughter. I love love love that dress, it’s so elegant, but not too grown-up and entirely age-appropriate.
swampy, hope you feel better soon. Summer colds are Teh Suck - I’m still coughing a week and a half later. Grrr.
I am back from a loooong day at the in-laws. Oy. As I’ve probably said before, MIL is a lovely person in properly controlled doses, so a whole afternoon and evening can be a little much at times. I start to get a little bit stabby when she starts nattering on about how noisy her neighbours are, and how bad the traffic is in their neighbourhood, and how no one takes care of their gardens any more, and how she can’t move into the city because the only condos she likes are $1mil.
However, it was still lovely to wish FIL a happy birthday and have a nice chat with him about his trip to Israel - he really seems to have enjoyed himself. Also, I now have a nice farmer’s tan from spending the day digging holes in their garden and stuffing plants into them.
Rhubarb bread from this morning was super yummy. Recipe to follow, when I manage to find time and energy to type it out.
Dunno if anyone will see these at this late date, but here are some pics from Daughter’s Prom. She’s the one in the lavender dress.

She had a good time. It was held at The Field Museum, which sounds really, really cool. (I’m not jealous of her going to prom, but I am jealous of her having an event at the Field!).
Taters–I really like your daughter’s dress.
Sorry things are kind of rocky, Pie. Can you change to another psychiatrist?
Hope you’re feeling better tomorrow, swampy.
Pretty pics of your daughter, rigs. She looked lovely as well. And it looks like she had fun. Love the dress, as well.
I’ve been sniffly all day. I thought it was allergies, but it’s persisted despite the industrial-strength antihistamines, which isn’t a good sign.
Dinner was ice cream (Bananas cajeta [Mexican caramel]/dark cocoa gelato) from the neighborhood ice cream place.
Only worked in the garden for just over an hour, I think. Moved another hosta, dug out a geranium and continued on the mission to eradicate the black berries. Decided that some of the daylilies are going to go into the curb lawn temporarily. My neighbor and I both want to get rid of the grass on our curb lawn. I figure I can temporarily plant daylilies there to get the soil ready for something else (and, as a side benefit, to clear out the area next to my fence, which I’m renovating). Eventually, they’ll all move to the edge of my driveway.
Guess I should crawl into bed. I’ve gone to bed early for the last several nights and have actually managed to sleep a reasonable number of hours.
Looking forward to Mama Tigs’ MMP tomorrow…
Extra hugs for everyone!!!
GT
It’s hard to kill most daylillies, GT, so put 'em wherever you need to for now–they’ll do fine… I spent yesterday moving some spirea, and some English wood hyacinths. Today I trimmed hedges and planted some Brunnera. Tomorrow, I am supposed to rip out a largish yew and attempt to transplant it. If it dies, it dies, but it can’t stay where it is anymore.
Off to bed, muscles getting tense. Feel better, GT, swampy, and Pie…
rigs, your daughter looks lovely. She’s a beautiful girl.
I am back from spending all of my gift cards ($300.00) plus another hundred or so of my own money on some new duds.
I had a hell of a time because I found a skirt that I loved, loved, loved, but nothing they had at Macys seem right with it. Oh, there was a blouse that they pictured with it, but it looked like a sack of potatoes. I just hated it. I tried several other combos, but they looked frumpy. What the skirt needed was a nice little tank or sleeveless blowse that curved in at the waist with a cute little jacket that also curved in. None to be found at there, unfortunately.
At any rate, I ended up with a new pant suit, several new shirts, a new pair of jeans, and some new bras. Bonus surprise was that I had gone down another size. I was creeping on a size 16 when I started this whole working out/eating better thing. Today I slipped into a size 10 with ease! I couldn’t believe it. I grabbed the jeans first thinking there was no way they’d fit, but they do and they look really good!
Those jeans that I’m wearing in the picture of me and my daughter kept slipping down on me. I didn’t think they were huge on me, but I had no idea I gone down another size. I kind of figured I was “between” sizes, so I was expecting to have a difficult time shopping today.
Frankly, I’m kind of afraid the slacks that I bought won’t fit for that long because they fit just a little loosely around the waist. I guess I could always get them altered if they start getting too big.
I was at the Macys for hours and hours trying stuff on, trying to find stuff work the skirt that I didn’t get, and just trying to work out outfits.
I still need to find a cute summer skirt or dress. This is my next mission, along with finding some strappy sandals.
Rigs & Taters, your girls are so beautiful! Since it seems to be a trend, here’s my gorgeous niece at her prom this year. Girl oughta be a model!
Hang in there, Ms Pie! Any idea what’s sparking this off? Is there something bad going on or are you just having a personal thunderstorm?
I made FCM’s peach French Toast casserole this morning–turned out Himself had arranged to go over to son’s house for some IT work so I dragged the whole thing along with us–it was insanely delicious and totally TEH EVILL!! I made it with some peach-mango streusel bread that had gotten a bit hard and freezer burned and the eggy stuff just softened it right up. I have to try this with fresh fruit–something involving blueberries, I think… Hmmm…
In honor of Memorial Day we just had to grill something even though it’s kinda rainy and yuck so I made some killer chili/coney sauce and I had grilled burgers covered in onion, chopped pickled jalapenos, cheese and chili–Himself prefers grilled hot dogs with onions, chopped fresh tomatoes, chili and pepper jack cheese. We’re all porky and sleepy now…
I recently picked up the full shot of Babylon 5 and I’m working through the first season again–I really have always been less than pleased with the Sinclair character and infinitely prefer the Sheridan era but completeness dictates one take the bitter with the sweet. Halfway done, then it gets yeehaw!
Yay, Taters, isn’t that neat when all of a sudden everything fits? I did that a few years ago, got down to a 6 (which was really too skinny) but it sure was cool being able to fit in all that skinny gear. I really need to drop some, I’ve crept up a bit–whenever Himself and I are living separately we both get quite skinny, then if we live together again we both chub up some. The difference is that he’s naturally skinny and I’m not so he just gets svelte and I get chunky. C’est la vie and shit!
Swampy, I made your layered potato/onion thingy tonight. It was very tasty and Mr. Taters just loved it. He told me to tell you that “you done good!”.
It’ll definitely be dish that we’ll make more often, but not too often because I gotta watch my figure you know!
Smartie, the thinnest I’ve ever gotten is down to a size 8. I was pretty damn slim at that point. That’s my goal, and if I go down more, that’s fine too. But, I think a size 8 will be pretty good. I’m not a “petite” woman by any stretch of the imagination.
Last Sunday post EST!
Okay, I’m back from the drive by.
First of all, what a bunch of good looking kids you all have (or are related to). We have a Doper pic thread, would it be weird to start a “post pics of your kids” thread?
The answer is yes, yes it probably would.
So instead I’ll request pictures of all the gardens that you guys seem to be working on so much. It will give me something to look forward to since I usually don’t like the warmer weather. For the record though, there is one thing that could easily eliminate daylillies… my mother. There wasn’t a plant or flower that she couldn’t kill, albiet unintentionally.
Someone call the shopping police, Tates is on a spree! I will write you a Chinese cookie fortune:
Haze, you don’t have to pre-boil the water per these instructions:[ul]
[li]Find a pot[/li][li]Add water[/li][li]Sprinkle salt[/li][li]Add pasta[/li][li]Have Chuck Norris glare at the pot[/li][li]Poof![/li][/ul]
And lastly, TVDude don’t like Mr. Ford? Blah! Heathen!
I’d see Indiana Jones with you.
PS: :smack: , on preview I see that it was rigs who went shopping with her daughter at Macys, then Tates went. Oh well, the fortune still stands. See you kids on the next thread.[ul]

Your resident fortune writer/list maker/movie watcher,

The new MMP is up.
Hey, I worked hard on that last post that no one will read now!
