Because We Can Never Get Enough… It’s A Monty Python MMP

Stop it or I will beat you over the head with my guitar. I AM NOT READY TO LEARN ALL THIS NOW. Now I just have to tell Seth that.

Smarty–thanks for the suggestion.

Just found out I have yet another thing at the HS to go to tonight. That’s 2 this week. Will this fucking month ever end? I swear, Daughter graduation is more exhausting than my own.

It doesn’t actually hurt, yet. I’m just worried that it will start to hurt, since the kid nurses, oh, twenty times a day. And that would be very annoying.
Mr. Lissar is off at the beach with a friend, doing tai chi stuff. I tihnk Nat and I will find out if the Local Overpriced Grocery Store is open and pick up a couple of things. I’m making gingerbread tonight, dammit. I didn’t get around to it yesterday.

"Never be rude to an Arab…

You should make Haze’s chocolate gingerbread. We’re still less than 1/2 way through the 13x9 pan of it, and it’s really good. Really rich so I don’t think 2 of us can eat the whole pan. My coworkers will be forced into service to help me finish it off I think.

Question for the flower/plant types around here. I saw a picture I liked of a kitchen with 3 little pots of herbs on the windowsill. Since I have a window over my sink, I decided I wanted to do that. So what herbs will do well inside, in a slightly-north-of-west facing window, and will stay reasonably small? Basil gets too gangly. And needs too much sun. I already have a rosemary plant so I’d prefer to stay away from that (plus it’s a sun-lover too). Thyme? Sage? Something else? I’d really like to end up with 3 different plans there.

Most herbs grow quite large when left to themselves. Please do not get cute little pots–they don’t allow enough root structure to grow and require excessive watering. A 2 quart pot should be about right. I’d do chives and maybe some parsley. You can grow basil or oregano, just be aware you will have to constantly cut it back.

These are too small to be any good for 99.9% of most potted plants:
Yes, I know they’re cute as hell Actually, the last one on the right (it’s bigger than the others) could work. I’d rather see you use the next size up, though.

Here’s a pic of some gallon pots, for size: too big for the windowsill A gallon pot will be too big for the sill, but the others shown are too small to support a healthy plant (they’re for seedlings).

Unfortunately, some manufacturer’s go by volume and some by size (ie a 4" pot). You will need to eyeball the pots (or measure your windowsill). You will also need some kind of tray underneath to capture water and other detritus.

Afternoon Y’all! My but we’re a chatty bunch today.

My interview went very well this morning. And it was allllllllll morning. Ok, most of it was spent in the office talkin’ to staff and lookin’ over what they do and all that there kinda stuff. I also went to the ReStore (I swear that’s what they call it) to meet the person who runs it and I met the head of the construction crew. I saw a really cool cabinet makin’ shop. They used to make all their cabinets until a couple of years ago. It’s cheaper to buy ‘em readymade these days so HfH goes with readymade now. Still, cool shop. They still use the equipment for some types of pre-construction stuff that can be done and taken to the build site. I met with the Board of the local HfH affiliate during lunch. We talked for a solid hour. They didn’t ask me a lot of questions but did want my opinions about what I saw re their financial condition (improving but I can tell where there had been some big problems), how I’d feel about foreclosing on delinquent owners (I said I’d hate it everytime it happened but I’d do it because it’s the fair thing to do), and how I’d go about working with folks who got behind in payments and all that kinda stuff. Foreclosure is really a last resort. They will do pretty much anything to keep that from happenin’, but after a period of time, foreclosure will happen if there has been no effort to make payments. It really is only fair cause the majority of people do make payments on time and take pride in keepin’ up their homes and all. I also met a couple of homeowners (they volunteered to talk to me) and went to a site build in progress for a little while. ‘Twas a very busy mornin’! I came home and decided to lie down for 'bout half an hour just cause I was tahred.

So, we shall see…

Puggy appendages crossed.

Yay for ReBro!

She’s a cutie Rosie

Tonight is men’s night at the church so no cookin’ for me. Well, except to grill my steak. Heck, I’ll even be nice and grill ol’ y’all know who’s too cause he has a tendency to overcook on the grill.

Ok, off to do some stuff.

Later Y’all!

I forgot earlier: Happy Birfday Taters!

I just woke up less than an hour ago. Someone in the house had cooked bacon, and the smell was wafting into my room. Otherwise I would have been late for my 4PM shift, meaning I had slept something like 13 hours. Ah, the joys of not having class anymore.

Also, I think I’m the only person here who’s not a Monty Python fan! I tried watching The Search for the Holy Grail once and it was really boring and I couldn’t finish it. I loved Spamalot, though, but that may be due to the fact that it was a musical and not a movie.

Ugh, time to get ready for work. (I work a 4-7 shift today, hardly worth waking up for)

Well, the thing is, I’m really looking more for decoration than actual usefulness. I have herbs growing outside - basil, cilantro, and thyme - and a BIIIIIG pot with a rosemary bush in it inside. But for my kitchen window I just want something that will be cute. And will stay cute and not get big and leggy and scragley.

Happy Birthday, Taters!!!

I found someone to take over the damn lease! One less thing to worry about. :: does little dance ::

Had lunch with The Guy and hung out all afternoon. Good times.

When are you due to leave? We’ll throw a virtual farewell party

I’m here - you can stop fretting!!

I got home to a minor disaster - the kids were unpacking and stuff was everywhere. It’s still everywhere - they have a lot of stuff. They should get organized soon.

I made a yummy pot roast, and all we had leftover were a few veggies. Dessert later will be fresh strawberries with French vanilla ice cream. Yum.

Happy Taters Day!!!

I’m too frazzled to say any more, plus with all the pics I looked at, I’ve lost track, so be assured if I remembered, I’d make appropriate comments.

Happy Birthday Taters!!

Grocery shopping is done. Target, before coupons was $57, after coupons was $23. Hy-Vee, before coupons was $60, after coupons was $50. Not too bad. We are all stocked and shouldn’t have to do another big grocery run through at least the end of the month. Just to get fresh fruits and veggies. Also need to hit up Sam’s again. Oh and Swampy, you should be happy, a 24 pack of TP was bought.

Brownies are done, just came out of the oven. Trying to wait for them to cool down a bit before I dig in. Dessert before supper is always good, right?

Buns need to be baked, waiting for them to be done.

Also need to make supper, Chicken Alfredo. Yummy.

It’s odd. It’s raining on one side of the house and not the other.

Back from work already, was actually out before 4:30 (CST), but hung around and had to buy an external hard drive (gotta send the laptop out to get fixed! Screen has developed a funny bright spot on the right edge. Hopefully Apple’ll do it for free.) I couldn’t afford a 300 dollar Time Capsule, but I sure wish I could have! I got a 320 GB drive at Wal-Mart for 95 bucks, and this whole wired thing is KILLING me. It’s literally not even 5% done after having 10 minutes to do whatever. (No, WM doesn’t carry ANY firewire-compatible drives).

Ugh. Wall of text, enjoy!

Whoa…very chatty, aren’t we?

bonkeydear, you’re not the only Monty Python non-fan. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s more that I’ve never spent much time watching them, so I don’t get all the jokes. I did, however, spend all day with “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” knocking around my brain because I clicked on LOUNE’s link. (I’ve actually seen Life of Brian although it was more than 20 years ago and was dubbed in German (although the songs were in English; no that doesn’t really make sense). ::glares in LOUNE’s direction::

Hi to everyone who’s new!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Taters!!!

Yay on finding someone to take over the lease, Haze. When do you leave? Even though we don’t know where your pixels originate, it’s odd to think that you’ll be posting from Korea real soon.

Those are some impressive savings, McUne. I got a $5 off coupon from Target the other day. I think I have a $10 off one from Lowe’s, too. I think I have to spend $50 in each place to be able to use them. I’ll be able to do that the next time I visit either place, practically without trying.

Cute pictures, rosie and Smartie. Those are some darling little girls. I loved the picture of Abigail with Dad and big brother. And the birthday party just looked like fun for all.

Hi FCM! How does it feel to have the kid back?

I think you should just take your guitar lessons via the MMP, rigs. Sounds like Beware of Doug (I love your screen name, by the way) could probably teach you what you need to know.

Sounds like the interview went well, swampy. Are you thinking you’d want the job if they offered it?

Got my hair cut earlier and have just finished eating a pretend pizza (pizza sauce and cheese on a pretzel roll).

It’s pretty nice out, but I don’t really feel like doing anything out there right now… Hmmm…what should I do? For now, I think I’ll cruise the Net a bit and then worry about the rest of the evening.

Hugs…

GT

Blah blah blah…

Happy B-day Taters!!!

Blah blah blah, more work.

Yay that the kids are home!

I made gingerbread, but not the Lesbian Gingerbread. I’m going to make that in a week or so. I just kind of winged it. Lots of ginger, molasses, golden syrup. It’s good. I’ll have some tonight and make cream cheese sauce for it tomorrow.

Nat is telling me that we are the Meanest Parents Evar because he is Not Tired. I think I can take exactly an hour of crying before I go in, grab him, and we go to bed together. I am not tough.

Dinner was BBQ chicken (in the oven cause the grill is at the new house.) green beans and cheesy mashed NOT.
I bought a watermelon at Meijer today because I just couldn’t resist. We balled that while waiting for the BBQ to glaze.
Nummy watermelon!

Then went to an awards ceremony for Oldest Daughter for high Meap scores. They had cake, (or death? No one in line got that… how sad.) with the heaviest frosting I’d ever had. Bleagh! But the punch! It was fresh strawberry punch. I didn’t get to ask how it’s made, but it was fully the best punch ever, I declare it so.

In other news, I’m feeling the Tadpole! I feel like there’s a mini popcorn popper in my belly. Fun!

I canceled my guitar lesson. I just couldn’t take it today. Tomorrow I may go get a songbook. I may not take guitar lessons for very long.

Does anyone else have trouble getting the chords? I thought a teacher would, I dunno, help me with that kind of stuff. Seth, not so much, not so far, anyway.
Off to an awards ceremony for Daughter. She has 2 of them this week, and one next week, and then graduation. It’s the senior year that will not end. (yes, I’m proud of her. and yes, I’m pissed that I have to miss House. She already HAS the award, this is just a ceremony. Bah).

Is there someone else you could take lessons from, rigs? Sounds like you just found an instructor who’s not right for you (maybe not right for anyone…).

Aww…little tadpole. How neat.

Stick to your guns, LiLi. Really, you need to make sure that he doesn’t turn into a little spoiled brat…

Hi Pie!

I taught myself using http://www.8notes.com - if you have some musical background, I think learning the guitar is doable (up to a certain point) by oneself.

I love Gossip Girl. So deliiiiiiiiiciously trashy.
