Aw man, you guys are great! Thanks for the birthday greetings everyone.
We seem to have celebrated the whole weekend, and tonight, MIL is taking us out to dinner. This birthday stuff is really, really bad for the diet.
I received some nice prezzies from friends, co-workers and family so far. Let’s see, last Wednesday, my office presented me with a $100.00 Visa card, my mother gave me some brandy beans and summer jammies, my friend’s Audrey and Jerry gave me a nice candle arrangement thingy and a Starbucks giftcard, and my husband gave me a $200.00 gift card for Macys.
So, I’ve got three hundred bucks to spend on some new duds, which I really need, because all of my slacks are too big, along with most of my shirts.
Well, we’re off shortly for dinner, where I may splurge and have prime rib or a ribeye. I’ll be good though and substitute veggies for the starch. Or, maybe I’ll just be fairly good and settle for a salad. I dunno, we’ll see how I feel.
Thanks again everyone for the birthday wishes. You all make my day.
Hi, all. Drive-by. Snowbunny and I just skimmed through most of the MMP, but we’re off to see Prince Caspian shortly so no time to read in depth.
Happy Birthday, Taters!
I think we’re going to have different doggie roommates tonight, two actually nice Jack Russell girls (yes, there really are nice Jack Russells!) instead of the bassets, who never really enjoyed it with us. The Jack Russells think we’re great, we pet them and fuss over them. Silly doggies!
Anyway, Idaho is still gorgeous beyond belief. One more day goofing around here, and then Wednesday morning we head home. ::sniffle:: It’s too gorgeous here, I don’t want to leave!
Y’all be good. Bobbio, sympathetic ouchies on the pinkeye – hope it clears up soon! Everybody else, hugs, yays, boos, etc. as needed. Talk to you all when I get home!
Dang Taters you got some good swag there! Good birthday swag is one of the finer things in life.
MCUNE I am proud. Knowin’ that folks now remember to stock up on tp makes me feel my work has not been in vain.
TagFree yay for the kickin’ tadpole.
gt, yeah, if they offer the job I’ll take it. I’d actually be makin’ a little less than I am now, but… dangitall… for some reason my heart really seems to be in the non-profit sector. Heh… I’m an ol’ softie I guess.
cb that’s the thing about bacon cookin’. I swear it could wake people from a coma. MMMMMMM… BACON!!!
Men’s night was fun. Two church members live close to me, so we take turns drivin’. Tonight was my turn. The other two are a FIL/SIL (Son) combo. The SIL one is a hoot always, but get a little alcohol in him and he’ll talk about anything. For instance, at one point tonight he was tellin’ folks about an ad he saw in AARP magazine (That ain’t the name of the magazine… I foget what is…) for penis pumps. Turns out he was for real… there was an ad in that magazine. Still… what a thing to talk about. Our next month’s men’s night will be at his place. Remember how I mentioned our Priest is retirin’ at the end of June? Well, he wants to do a big ol’ fish fry for Fr. Jim, which I think is just way jake. He lives on the next road over from me (so does the FIL) and told me I could just walk over through the woods so I could party. He even promised to send me back home with a flashlight so I won’t get lost. Nice of him ain’t it. Like I said, the man’s a hoot.
Such is life in swampland tonight.
ETA: JoeDawg says hi. I guess that’s what he was tryin’ to do. He’s in my lap and is tryin’ to use the keyboard.
Oy, what happened to my lie-around-and-do-nothing day?
Since the weather was not particularly conducive to gardening, The Boy was excused from his duties at his parents’ house providing slave labour to MIL. However, we did invite his little bro and little bro’s GF to spend the day with us to give them some relief from the constant nattering that they’ve been subjected to all weekend.
They arrived around noonish so we could walk down to grab some pho in Little Chinatown, then the boys went to finish assembling our yard cart whilst GF and I gossiped for a bit, and then we sent on their merry way.
Which is why I’m now prepping for tomorrow’s phone interview at 9pm. AAARGH.
Why yes, I am procrastinator. Why do you ask?
ppr, major respect for throwing in Monty Python into an ethics final. I always wanted to do that, but none of my profs had enough of a sense of humour for me to risk it.
Yay for lease being taken over, Haze!!! That’s great news.
That is the common crab apple tree. I have 2 in my back yard, but they bloomed about a week ago.
Hazel–thing is, I don’t have a musical background as in playing an instrument.
I will talk to Seth next lesson (the Monday after Memorial Day). I just have so much on my plate right now, I really get aggravated quickly about stuff.
Waiting up for Daily Show, then bed. I mended a pair of #2’s jeans tonight–I feel very virtuous and housewifely.
I dunno what is my favourite song from Monty Python. I love the Lumberjack song, and the universe song, and Always look on the bright side of life…
Had a busy weekend. Friday/Saturday I helped my friend move, yesterday went grocery shopping and spent a lot, and planted my flowers. Today I hung around home until my Dad and step-mom showed up, and it seems we have more definite plans for a mouse ears vacation in October. My duties? Make sure I can get Velociraptor in and out of the US with a minimum of fuss (being a single Mom makes travel harder, especially when I can’t get a letter from the donor saying I can take him where the hell I want because I haven’t seen him since well before Velociraptor was born…) and make sure I have spending money, which will be fun since I still have to finish paying for my retreat (thank goodness its local so no airfare there).
Man I’m tired and it’s only almost 9. I think I shall sleep early since tomorrow is the official start of my new position!
Home tired, have a cat on my back. I get Wednesday off, maybe.
taxi:
I went to Target after work and bought a digital camera. Good thing too, because I got the kitten when I got home. Her name is Thrakazog. Nelly is ecstatic, the cat somewhat less so.
:waves at beebs:
Sorry about HRH, dotty.
Muppet, snow? We had to wade through primordial ooze when we were kids! And we didn’t have schools, we just waded from place to place! For no reason!
I just figured out the chords for that song Regina Spektor sings at the end of Prince Caspian. It was kind of jarring in context but on its own it’s a nice enough song.
rigs, you probably just need a new teacher. I dunno, though - I only play guitar to sing along to, so I probably shouldn’t be giving advice. :smack: I sing better than I play, which isn’t saying much.
I was going to do laundry tomorrow and pack some more, but my mom’s been bugging me to accompany little brother to new school to turn in his admissions application. Jesus Christ, what is he, 12? He’s such a lazy bastard. What he’s going to do after I leave and no one’s here to hold his hand, I have no idea.
Hi all. Good morning to all our Western Hemisphere early-risers (aren’t babies fun, LiLi?)!!!
HRH was none the worse for wear this morning - if it hadn’t been for the faint sour smell of vomit in her bedroom (I still need to clean her carpet!), you would never have known that Carrie Jr. was filling in for Noor last night!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Work purtification must soon commence even though I don’t wanna. I must. So I shall. But first, more caffiene.
I’m wearing my contacts today. The redness is mostly gone, but there’s a little bit of itch left. I brought my glasses just in case I need to switch back. Those eye drops work great.
Last night was the big Emergency Management meeting for Cottonfield County. Lots o’ crap y’all would find boring, but I took VWife along because she’s been a bit jealous of my fire and ambulance gigs, and I wanted to see if there was a way to hook her up with a job to do in the next disaster. There were 3-4 things she was interested in, so maybe she’ll have some reason to get out of the house and off her keester.
