I know it’s often easier to view everything through a partisan filter, but there are plenty of leftists on the board who think gonzo’s a fucking idiot. Myself included. I wouldn’t mind him half as much if he didn’t regularly take it upon himself to defend positions I support.

It was quite bridled, actually. It wasn’t said in anger or haste, it was reasonable speculation based on your behavior.
What is ageism exactly? Discrimination based on age regardless of actual functional impairments? In this case we’re not talking about that, since what we’re discussing is the actual impairments that come with age.

Nobody forces anyone to read his posts. I suppose one might be moved to, if somebody wrote like “Wow, great point, there, Gonzo, very cogently said!” I certainly would run to check, hell, I’m a pessimist, I love surprises! But that ain’t happening, now is it?
And how many times he been pitted, by the same set of usual suspects, over and over. I mean, they must be getting something out of this. And how many times is he used in reference, like,“Oh, well, that may be what guys like you and Gonzo say…”

Regardless of Gonzos mental and protein status, people or bots like him/it do a great disservice to those that support gun control.
I’m a liberal gun owner. When people like Gonzo pop up, it makes me more cautious of the anti-gun types that ‘just’ want to pass one more law.
No rational argument in the 20/20 thread would sway his opinion one bit. Gun enthusiasts suggested ways to make the Demo/test fair. But Gonzo would have none of that.
I and other folks in the 20/20 thread would very, very much like to see a fair test. And made suggestions on how to do it.
Gonzo, and other gun control folks that refuse to educate themselves aren’t interested in a fair test. They don’t listen to ideas from informed people about how such a test could be conducted. Nor do they offer other suggestions.
Why? I already only read about one out of ten of his posts as it is, because sometimes I get a chuckle. I gather he was totally wrong? OK, anything else you want me to take away from that? I don’t hardly read him as it is, you want me to throw something?

I have to disagree here. People that are pro or anti anything that won’t listen to reason hurt their cause.
The only thing that Gonzo has done is make me raise a hairy eyeball in the direction of any gun control. He (and others) have showed me how absolutely clueless some, if not many or most of the anti-gun people are.
For that, I guess I should thank him.

elucidator: I don’t think I’m one of your “usual suspects,” but I find myself at least mildly annoyed by gonzomax (though I’d never read any of the other threads about him until now). That’s because he persisted in using the $42 billion number for the credit default swap market even after I showed him a pretty solid link disputing it that he never addressed.
Then again, he hasn’t used it since, so maybe he’s learned from it.
Ah…that’s really interesting. The Celts have a saying about shuffling little green skinned creatures who live under bridges, but I just can’t recall what it is right now…
