If I had, I might, but since I didn’t, I don’t. I don’t think he has much to offer, hence, as I said, I generally skip right over. Not defending him, what’s to defend, his arguments stand or fall on their own.
But I will point out that he does draw an inordinate amount of attention from…certain persons. Now, why is he their Betty Noyer, rather than a more articulate and polished poster like Diogenes or Hentor? In some cases, I think its because he becomes the opposite of a scapegoat, they appoint him the standard bearer because they can whup him, and they like to win.
Can’t prove that, of course, but this is the Pit, not GD, so I can air my suspicions as if they meant something or anybody cared.
Besides, my natural inclination when I see 6 guys beating up on one is to make it six to two. Probably can’t help that, and I’m not about to try.

There’s some truth to that. There is also truth to the claim by our more conservative brethren that there are leftists here who tend to jump on the low-hanging fruit on their side. There are numbskulls on both sides, but I’ll note that those numbskulls tend to get jumped by the more thoughtful of their own side when they are too egregious.

And while I can test and disregard garbage, many don’t or can’t. Or use it to support their positions. Bad data still exists. And is created by folks like the 20/20 crew. And people vote on it.
People like Gonzo don’t change my mind so much, as make me more cautious of those that have similar agendas and use garbage to support their positions.
You defended gonzo because the people who attack him are all certain types of people. The last pit thread about gonzo was about his use of the word “faggy”. When he was pitted about his use of a pejorative term for homosexuals, he refused to see what the problem was. Various people tried to explain to him why calling things “faggy” was offensive, for about 8 pages, but he couldn’t see it. After all, Ann Coulter used the word faggy, another guy on some website used the word faggy, middle-school kids use the word faggy–so it can’t be offensive.
Needless to say this did not endear him to the various differently oriented people on this board, or those sympathetic to them, or those who aren’t idiots.
Oh, but surely Lucy’s serious and doesn’t understand why his baited hook about the usual suspects is both vapid, stupid and profoundly slimy.
