Beck's free in the MMP

Friday I posted I made some hash from the leftover corned beef. Saturdays I usually make freshly-grated hashbrowns, bacon, and over-easy eggs. (Mrs. L.A. gets the over-easy eggs, and I have a poached egg so I can pretend to be healthy.) I suspect she’s going to want scrambled eggs and bacon this morning, but I may make a hand & cheese omelette if she doesn’t state a preference.

Our ‘ritual’ was to go to the local Mexican restaurant on Fridays for [del]margaritas[/del] Mexican food. The last couple of weeks we’ve picked up a Sauza margarita kit from the liquor store down the beach, and I’ve made tacos dorados. The liquor store was closed for an audit last week, so I got José Cuervo from Rite-Aid and we used the leftover juice from the kits. I made tacos dorados for Mrs. L.A., and I made myself burritos on low-carb tortillas. One good thing about not being able to go out is that it’s a lot cheaper!

What have I cooked recently? In no particular order: corned beef & cabbage, rib-eye steaks (on the barbie), fish Florentine, crispy beef stir-fry, tacos, tuna salad, aspara nikumaki, biscuits & gravy, shrimp & grits…

metal mouse, the trucks with soldiers appeared to be > 6’ apart, so I think they’re good. :stuck_out_tongue: We got rain here last night, but didn’t blow away. As far as the rye bread goes, the light rye with caraway seeds is Jewish rye and the dark rye is pumpernickel.

Mooooooooom, if you have vanilla wafers around, put one in the bottom of each mini muffin holes in the pan (the little liner in place) and do a half a cheesecake recipe made with stevia, finish filling the liners and bake. Fairly low carb in two bites each. Since I’ve been home more, I’ve been making muffins that the carb count isn’t as outrageous as the muffins-on-steroids you see in coffee shops. I use half oatmeal, 1/4 whole wheet flour and 1/4 AP flour for the carby goodness, stevia to sweeten and change up the sweet spices and nuts. One muffin a day doesn’t adversely affect my blood glucose.

Today, I’ll re-pot the plants that I bought yesterday, make some carrot ginger soup for lunches the first half the week and play in the studio. The red beans are in the crockpot for tonight’s supper of red beans and rice, with a cucumber salad on the side.

Caaarl - what did you do??

**FCD **and I like doing weekend breakfasts out, tho our area offers few options. One local place that we used to like has really gone downhill. Another was just too meh, plus they didn’t offer fountain drinks. For the longest time, we’d go to Bob Evans, and then Cracker Barrel showed up. Bob has pretty much lost us because they switched from Coke to Pepsi.

There’s a really good diner in La Plata, but it’s a 24+ mile drive one way, and if you don’t get there just after they open, it’s a long wait, so we rarely go there. As a result, we mostly go to CB, and of course, we can’t do that now. I worry about our favorite server, Lisa.

Daughter and SIL are taking Roxy to hang with her other grandmother. **FCD **is working. Again. Big surprise. I just finished yet another read, and I’m thinking I’ll watch some Doc Martin. It’s still dreary out. But we’re promised sun tomorrow, so there’s that.

Howdy. Cooking some pork for pulled pork and will have cole slaw and baked beans with it. I am not as sinusy today thank goodness. Stupid pollen.

That’s all the news that’s fit to print from here. Everyone stay safe and distanced.

I made pulled pork the other day. We had some of it last night, with BBQ sauce and coleslaw.

We had pulled pork for supper last night, and I had some of the leftovers for lunch today. I’ve vegged with TV for a while, and now the sun is shining. So much for the promised t-storms!

Oh, bloody.

I banged my wrist on something, taking the recycling bins out. Tore the skin, and now I’m bleeding.

flyboy, do what my mom always did, told us to stop crying, doused it in Hydrogen peroxide, and bandaged that sucker up. Seriously, hope you’re OK.

No pork here, but I did order a steak dinner at Texas Roadhouse for 5:15pm. I’ll let you know how it goes. At this rate I’ll be trying Door Dash or Uber Eats in another month or so…

76F today. Took a few more things out of the garage and put them on the curb for tomorrow’s junk pickup. Bought a new footstool at Target and ordered a thermometer from Amazon (thermometers are about as scarce as toilet paper–which Target was out of, BTW). Target (and Publix yesterday) are ‘sanitizing’ the handles of their carts before you take them; maybe not much but I appreciate the thought.

Everybody take care.

I noticed it after washing my hands. I put a paper towel on it, but Mrs. L.A. made me put Neosporin and a bandage on it.

Howdy Y’all! We did Morning Prayer via Zoom with our Bishop elect this mornin’. After that We did Zoom with several parishoners and EYP for “virtual coffee hour.” OYKW and I had coffee cups in hand (filled with coffee) which amused others. We do what we can. We feasted, got the kitchen cleanded up and then accomplished nappage. All in all not a bad Sunday. Still need to haul the biiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow.

Hope everyone has enjoyed their Sunday!

And just because we haven’t hit page six all that much, welcome to page 6.

Am eating a 11oz sirloin with steak fries and sallit with 4 rolls, all exactly to order. Yeah for Texas Roadhouse.

All y’all have a good evening and I’ll catch you on the new MMP tomorrow.

Happy Sunday!

The plants have been re-potted, Nelson’s been walked, I’ve played in the studio, red beans and rice rocks, plus, I made a batch of carrot onion soup for lunches this week. Go me!

Stay safe!

I made Ziti for dinner, but all that talk of pulled pork calls my signature sandwich to mind. It was sparked by my wife eating a hot roast beef sandwich for lunch one day at a local sports bar;

The next time i pulled a pork butt off of my offset smoker I sliced a fresh baguette on a sandwich sized bias and lightly toasted them on the grill. I put a generous serving of pulled pork on them and served thi with garli parmesan mashed yukon gold potatoes and covered it with sausage and bacon country gravy. Not very low calorie or heart friendly but tasty none the less

Mrs. L.A.'s steak is on the barbie. My steak will go on in a bit. Potatoes, pierced, buttered, and wrapped in foil, are in the toaster oven. We have wine.

I took Mauser to the dog park today. The humans all sat well seperated, the dogs sniffed each other up close and personal.

Howdy Y’all! I’m sure y’all were worried so I shall relieve your minds and say I did haul the biiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Everyone may rest easy now.

MetalMouse did you pickup or get it delivered? Just wonderin’ cause if it was delivered, how long did it take? If you picked up, how did they go about it? Just nosy about the experience.

CupCakes better that way than the dawgs sittin’ well separated while the humans sniff each other up close and personal. Sounds like y’all got the social distancin’ thing right.

baker, Nelson is envious. Our dog parks are closed for the duration. He had a playdate with his two besties (they’re both dachshunds  ) at one of their back yards yesterday, but he misses going to the park regularly.
