Beck's free in the MMP

She’s going home!

Take it from here!

Good morning, everyone!

It’s great to hear that you’re heading home, Beck! The critters are going to be so happy to have you back. I’m sure the humans will, as well.

It’s a chilly morning, here. It got down to 35*. We even had some snowflakes, and sleet. It’s going to warm up a bit, and let us see some sunshine, later.
I’m fine with that, I guess. I don’t know what I’ll get into, today. There’s always laundry to do. Also, there will probably be another bout of searching. I’m having a devil of a time finding the title for my husband’s old truck. We want to send it to the junkyard, but, I need that stupid title, first. I’d like to say that I’ve looked everywhere for it, but, since I didn’t find it, I can’t say that I did look everywhere. I detest when I pull stunts like this. Oh, well. It’ll turn up. Eventually. Probably.

Have a good day, folks.

Beck’s back? Well, there goes the neighborhood… :stuck_out_tongue:

I know what a relief it is being sprung. I’ve been hospitalized overnight 3 times - once to give birth, twice to have innards removed - and I was always antsy to get out! So yay, Beck! Don’t overdo it just because you’re free!

I woke stupid early - like around 4:30. I was reading on my tablet, listening to the rain, but I can only be a slug for so long. The critters have been tended to and I’ve breakfasted, except for completing caffeination. I’d like to try to find some meat today, but I might wait till tomorrow. There’s a poke roast thawing on the counter for supper, and I’ll do something with zucchini and some other veggies.

Beyond that, not sure what the day holds. Since it’s rainy, we’ll have to amuse RoxStar indoors - that can be a challenge, but SIL is off today. That way she won’t wear out one of us entirely, theoretically.

Happy Moanday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 63 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 81 and mostly cloudy for the day. I think we got some rain last night but I couldn’t tell yet when I looked out. I’m pretty sure I heard rain when I awoke around twoish to make a visit to the facilities. The big item on today’s agenda is to defilthyfy da cave. Sup shall be cubed steak 'n gravy, green beans, squash (veggies leftover from yestiddy), rice, and rolls. I figure we might as well eat well.

Becks yay for gettin’ sprung. Like Nona said, I’m sure the critters and humans are glad to have you back home.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Yay for getting sprung becks!

It seems weird to be among the early posts in the MMP. :stuck_out_tongue: Usually, it’s around 1730 before I can get to it.

Today, cleaning out the lower kitchen cabinets and improving some of my MS Excel and Access skills. I have an online resource and a couple of books to use, but I’m wanting to set up a database for things like rubber stamps, dies, punches and electronic dies in the studio rather than depend upon a three ring binder and the material with the electronic die cutting cartridges. It will help in remembering what all is available when doing design work.

Yay for Becks going home! I’m sure critters and humans will be pleased to have her back

I am “fortunate” enough to be working from home for the foreseeable future. Campus is closed, all of our exams are moving to online assessments (probably open-book exams) and we are doing what we can to keep things ticking over. Nothing much happening at the moment since teaching is all online and this is the last week of term. All the students have been told to go home if it’s at all possible, the rest should be following the advice to stay inside unless they absolutely have to go out somewhere.

I’m keeping occupied at home, I did have to go out today because my car had to go in for a service and MoT. The govt has not suggested we could have a pass on MoT testing so the garage is open and the car is in. It’s due for testing later this afternoon so once they call to say it’s finished, I will walk back to collect it. Should take me about half an hour to walk up there, and it’s a lovely sunny day so it won’t be a hardship.

It’s been very quiet outside, not much traffic and few pedestrians either which is a good sign. One of my friends in Spain who is having to stay inside did a live farcebook thing this morning where she picked a novel and read a couple of chapters aloud for anyone on her friends list who wanted to listen. It was very calming having someone read to me for half an hour, I’m hoping she will do it again. Her husband is an extremely talented musician, he has promised a little bit of live music from his living room on Thursday evening

Well, my old toaster finally died this morning. Shorted out in a big way. Dare I venture out to get one at Wal-Mart?

Just back from a quick run to FL, hoping to find some ground beef. Nope. Guess the truck hasn’t come yet.

I’m wondering how much of the hoarded stuff will end up in the trash because people over-bought stuff? I’m also wondering what to do with the head of cabbage I have. Time to search recipes.

Good morning all. Lay slug-a-bed until 8:30am, it’s due to rain today and tomorrow, so no trouble staying inside. It is supposed to reach the 70’s tomorrow, so that will help. Goal this week is to put up pictures and I’ll make it a goal to do 10 a day, that should finish the job by the end of the week (I hope). Once I get started I’ll probably do more than 10, just need to start.

Becks, glad you’re headed home, enjoy family and pets and post here when you can.

Cupcakes, I think it is safe to make a short trip–just watch your distancing.

FCM, wondering why you went all the way to FLorida for ground beef, then I realized you meant FoodLand…

Boofae, may your classes be good and the MOT find nothing wrong with your car.

Nona, did you look over there? Or how about in that place? And maybe it’s right in the usual box… Hopefully it’ll turn up, or you’ll remember suddenly where you last saw it. (Check the sock drawer–last time I lost something that seemed to have disappeared into thin air, it was there).

All y’all have a good week.

**MetalMouse **- Food Lion. <roar>

Oops…Foodland is a local store, we don’t have Food Lion here.

Press on.

We got an email from our company president. Emphasis mine:

I sent him this:

‘Typhoid Mary’ Mallon never got sick herself. She refused to keep ‘social distance’ and was arrested in 1915, spending the rest of her life in confinement. She died in 1938 at the age of 69.

It snowed last night. Maybe a inch or two. Roads are clear, the trees are lovely. No traffic since the gov put in at stay in place order. I however am at irk. I’ve decided I will come in when I feel like it, otherwise irk from home. I spent yesterday with Ursala Kitteh on the sofa reading and watching teevee. I got bored, although I did have a nice nap. Dinner is leftover chicken with mozzerella and proscioutto. I mangled the spelling of both of those!

I read that as Florida as well and thought that that was a long way to go just for TP. :stuck_out_tongue:

baker, skip Wally World and order one from da Jungle. You likely won’t pay any more for it there and you’ll not have to be around other people. I did that one year when I broke my coffee carafe on Thanksgiving day. No way was I going to brave black Friday for a 20 dollar coffee maker. :stuck_out_tongue:

The lower kitchen cabinets are sparkling and organized. There is another (small) box of stuff that will head to Goodwill when this whole thing is over. Now, I’m mulling what to stream in the background while I work in the studio and study the MS stuff. Decisions, decisions.

Thank you, Thank you.
Waiting on the paperwork.
I’m packed up.
Big Wrek is impatiently paciing…
Then I’m outta here!!!

Wo0t-W0ot!!!

Yay for bustin’ out of there Becks!

'Tis the season for MOTs; mine’s going in tomorrow. Hopefully. I gave the neighbour the key already, so I’m hoping he won’t just steal it. From what I can tell, car mechanics are one of the last places to be closed 'cos obviously emergency services need vehicles, and need 'em to be working.

I’ve been surprisingly busy today, with the [del]triffid breeding project[/del] innocent Horticulture project. It’s going to take me another 2 days to get through all this, I think. It’ll be keeping me busy at least. I’m now officially sent home from irk, as the site I irk on has been closed. Glad my manager said I didn’t have to come in today, though officially I was supposed to; I would literally have driven for an hour, got told ‘OK, take what you need to irk from home’, taken nothing (it’s that or take the whole lab) and driven home again. Come to think of it though, I have half a lab in the room anyway right now…

Also- unsurprisingly- the zoo has shut, and as I’m online, friends with him on Facebook and all the other trustees are hard to get hold of, the manager’s been panicking somewhat at me. I’m not surprised; if they’re shut all summer, I doubt the place can survive, and they won’t be the only ones… The animals still need looking after and feeding, some staff still need paying to do that, and some heating still needs to be on (though thankfully not as much as it would have been a few weeks back) and summer is about 90% of the year’s income. Plus they just spent quite a bit upgrading the plumbing, which did need doing.

Lots to panic about, nothing much anyone can do.

At least it’s N.O.S; shame I can’t really go out and enjoy it.

Nut, hope the zoo survives; will the animals be placed in other zoos??

Did my daily [del]freedom run[/del] shopping trip, picked up rice, noodles, and gravy (all were in stock, albeit picked over) and picked up a sammich at Jersey Mike’s (no sit-down service, all takeout). Should be inside the rest of the day, dripping rain outside.

SIL emptied the dishwasher, and I reloaded it. I’ve lunched and made **FCD **his lunch. He’s napping. I also read a book - one of the Jesse Stone series. It was a super-fast read - maybe 3-4 hours at most.

Roxy is up from her nap, so I may push the vacuum cleaner around once they take her downstairs. Then, I dunno. Not in the mood to clean the base cabinets, but it’s gotta be done. I especially dread the junk drawer and the long corner cabinet. Maybe I should save that fun task for the next rainy day (probably Weds.) Nope, not a lot of motivation here.

Who knows? A lot of zoos are going to be in the same situation; in fact, they’re probably in a better place than many, as they own the site outright and they do qualify for some government help (as currently announced).

The really big places like Chester Zoo will almost certainly survive, as they have a lot of other assets which could be sold off, but there is no plan in place for every zoo in the country- potentially even the continent- having to shut down for an indefinite period.

Hopefully there will be grant money available if it goes on for longer than a few months, because if not, there certainly won’t be space available to rehouse all the animals that will need it, not even the endangered ones in breeding programmes. Many of them can’t just be released to the wild, even if that was possible, it’d be like chucking a chihuahua out there, they wouldn’t last a week.

Pardon my lack of fluency in MMP-speak.

What is M.O.T.?
