Happy birthday, VunderVife - hopefully BBBobbio will remember to do the appropriate amount of spoiling.
Happy Birthday VunderWife
Yay for drying out a bit, BooFae
Cool story, Spacey
Hope you feel well, Lissla, and hope the move goes hitchlessly!
OK, now I’m wondering too… where’s Nava?
Appropriate “Hi!”-s, yays, boos etc… to everybody – hope y’all are getting over the Monday Morning Blahs already.
Me, I got nuttin’. Almost packed for our vacation – leaving in about 30 hours, for almost two weeks. And of course there’s always some kind of crisis at work just before going on vacation. Murphy’s Law
Or, perhaps, I’ll just go into the bathroom and puke. That works, too.
Queenie, I forgot to tell you last time, your kitties and the horse are gorgeous.
Last night I dreamed that the kidlet was born, and it was about an inch long, and I ad a very hard time forgetting it was with me and not squashing it. What up with my dreams lately?
I forgot to mention this: I got my scores from my test, and my overall was 85%. I was shooting for 95%, knowing that I would probably not get it.
The rule of thumb is that the certiifcation exam will grade about 10 points lower than the practice finals, and I was consistently getting about 85% on the practices and the course final, meaning I would get about 75% if I didn’t do anything else.

Oh well, time to let this go away since I’m boring y’all.
:Yawn!:
Swampybeer - cool MMP. I’m certain all those 16 oz cans really appreciate the caring and help with their E.D.! And the Mother-Yeast thing …umm… yuk!
bbs2k - Thank you, I don’t often share that Incident much. Even after all this time, it’s sorta like scratching a scab - it’s kinda hard and bleeds a bit 'round the edges. Your kind encouragement touched me. It’s true that sharing joy increases the joy, while sharing pain lessens the pain - coincidentally, a Spiderism (Spider Robinson).
And speaking of spiders - didja know that Giant Virtual Spiders[sup]TM[/sup] (once you chase 'em down) taste remarkably like virtual chicken?
Other than that, I too got teh sick, so hey’s yays & {hugs} to everbody!
HSM
That is so Laverne & Shirley. Now the show intro keeps going through my mind, ending where they put the glove on one of the bottles.
Sometimes beer cans like to mosh. They’ll be comin’ off the pasteurizer and one of ‘em will get pushed up to the top of the other cans and ride the conveyor all the way down like it’s crowd surfin’. Sometimes the can does not make it all the way down to the combiner where it can be grabbed and set down. They fall off. Which brings up to today’s safety lesson, children. If you must mosh and crowd surf, do not do it six and a half feet off the floor. It can only end badly.
Fun OP, swampy! And happy belated birthday!
I am so far behind here. I just can’t keep up any more! I was crazy busy at work on Thursday, out on Friday, and then… well, I never come here on the weekends. So it’s been days and I have no idea what y’all are talking about. And I always miss out on videos because I can’t watch them at work and, again, I never log on at home.
Oh well.
Sean, if you haven’t washed your coffee cup since 2000, I’m starting to wonder what Mandy the Martian and Roundboy say about YOU!
So-so weekend here. For some completely unknown reason, my legs broke out in hives on Friday. I’ve never had hives before, and there was nothing that I did or ate on Friday that was different or unusual. So I’ve been kind itchy and blotchy all weekend. At least some Claritin helped.
KeithT made homemade gyros (Alton’s recipe) on Saturday, and they were really really good! And we had some fresh local heirloom tomatoes which were just amazing. Those other tomatoes that they sell in the stores just don’t even deserve to be called tomatoes.
I spent a lot of time in the pool this weekend. I just love being in the water. This is causing us a bit of a problem as we start (very early stages) talking about a townhouse or condo. Not very many places have pools around here. But it’s really really important to me as it provides serious relaxation, and I am such a tightly-wound, stressed-out person that any source of that much relaxation is so good for me. But KeithT thinks we’ll be limiting our options too much to only look at communities with pools. So now this is adding to my stressed-out-ed-ness. Bleh.
Lunchtime. I’m awake now, too.
That’s neat about the beer cans, Swampy. I will now have the image of beer cans moshing to “Powerhouse” stuck in my head all day, audio and video both, even though I’ve been listening to “Godspeed You Black Emperor” over and over in an effort to dislodge it.
The Motheryeast, though: I have a horrendous image from a Moebius cartoon stuck in my head about it. A diplomat is summoned to am audience with the Queen of a planet, and the Queen is a queen in the biological sense: she lays the eggs of all the other inhabitants. She’s a gigantic and hideously-fat grey-green humanoid sitting in a pool of nutrient, from which assistants continually collect the eggs that break free from her flesh. The picture is actually worse than I describe.
Happy birthday, VunderWife! (Or would that be “VunderVife”?) Glad to see that you’re drying out over there in England, ScaryFaerie. Hope your move goes well, Lissla Lissar. StGermain, I was wondering what kind of dog weighed 400 pounds as a puppy, until I realised you were talking about the stove…
I like MMPs. Im going to post for a change.
I’ve been married five years. I recieved neither wood, nor silverware, which are the traditional gifts. In fact, I didnt get anything from my husband. I havent seen him in three years, one month and 20 days, nor have I heard from him. Continued silence is the best gift of all, but it makes my divorce a bit more complicated!
But I drank a bottle of cheap champagne last night anyway. I was going to make bellinis with it but couldnt find part of the blender so what the hell… drank it straight. I didn’t drink it alone, however. I drank it while on the phone with boyfriend, who is going to be in Alberta all summer. Im not impressed. Just another reason I didnt recieve any “wood” for my fifth wedding anniversary…
Ok, thats all I’ve got to say for now…but then again as a nurse I don’t really like reading much about “mother yeast”…
It’s awful of me, but this made me giggle.
No worries, LiLi, I’m sure the kidlet will be big enough to keep track of.
Ooh, so [del]much fresh meat[/del] many new MMPers! :: waves frantically ::
Thanks for the bday greeting taxi.
Frederick Miller (Miller’s founder, duh) is said to have brought the “mother yeast” with him from Germany. So mom is makin’ little German yeast babies all the time. Should I ever encounter one up close and personal, I shall have to remember to speak to it in German, which will be hard cause I don’t know how to speak German.
Ungerheuer is “monster” in German. Just sayin’…
Happy Birthday, Swampy!!
Sunspace - Together, my five dogs weigh over 400 lbs, if that counts for anything?
StG
Okay - let me see if I can manage this …
Posit, I hope you feel better soon.
Happy Birthday Vunderwife and congrats on your test scroe BBBobbio!
BooFae, glad your feet are drying out.
Howdy Dots! Don’t be a stranger!
taxi, stick to your guns - we want a pool! We want a pool!
Pugs, you should give that spider to bbs2K - he must be running short on spiders with all the freebies he’s handing out to all the newbies!!!
Rebo - pork chops, yummmmmm! ::drools:: (Can you tell I get the occasional pork-related urge!???)
StG, your new oven/stove sounds really cool - post pics when it’s all cleaned up and installed, will ya?
Foolie, welcome! Next time you’re alone, feel free to stop by. We will be more than happy to share a glass with you and maybe, if you ask FCM nicely, you can even have some chocolate!
And everyone else - I just can’t keep up, so yays, boos, hugs and welcomes all round! But I will let Sis know about the Art Institute and the Field Museum - thx muchly!
Well, it’s just after 7:30pm on Monday and I am tahred! Noor woke up at 5am this morning and refused to sleep for more than 45 minutes at a stretch during the day. She is down and out now, but will be woken partially around 9pm for a final night feed before the big sleep (hopefully until 6am tomorrow!).
Nothing interesting to report on the home front. I didn’t even cook anything decent for lunch - beef sausages in onion gravy with french fries. Too tahred, and it has also been 2 weeks since I did a proper grocery shop, until this afternoon. We went to the hypermarket and loaded up on all the necessities, from disposable nappies to frozen skinless, boneless chicken breasts. All up it cost about US$140. Gah! But the fridge, freezer and pantry are now bursting at the seams and I may just make pepperoni cheese bread for lunch tomorrow and serve it with rocket salad! YUMMMMMMM!
Okay, off to check facebook and see what’s on the idiot box . Ciao, my lovelies!
Swamps, I have a serious question for you about TheMotherYeast. How do the microbiologists control the inevitable mutations?
A long time ago, I dabbled in homebrewing, back before I had to give up drinking for medical reasons other than addiction. A lot of emphasis was made on culturing yeast for the homebrewer, and how to identify the mutations from the proper mother strain.
Mutant yeast creates esters, which in turn make the beer taste funny. A common mutation made the beer taste banana-like.
It was a PITA using Petri dishes on the kitchen counter; I can’t imagine how it’s done on an industrial scale.
Back to the regularly scheduled frivolity. ::gooses Rosie::
Mmmm… a fifth of sixth.
Of all the beers available, I’m still awfully partial to Miller Highlife. I mean… it’s the champagne of beers. Swampy, you beer-rescuer you, I’ve felt beholden to you for several things before but never anything quite so tangible.
Oh great. Now it’s mutant Motheryeast.

I, for one, welcome our new Motheryeast overlady.
THAT was worth the price of admission today, thanks!
Happy Birthday VunderWife!!
Lunch time. The best part of the hot dog is the giant pickle that comes wrapped up with it.
mmmmmmmmm
