Being Human Series 2 [open spoilers after airing]

The bit that got me shouting on at the telly was George referring to Kemp as a Catholic priest. Er, he had a wife and child - they don’t let Catholic priests do that. Unless he converted from C of E after they were killed?

I’m almost on the side of the priest now. Mitchell and Daisy killed an entire train carriage of people. They need staking.

Edited to add that it was mentioned last series that’s it’s Mitchell’s “closeness” to George that makes him immune to his Star of David.

I think there’s a war going on in Mitchell’s skull between him and Ivan. The train scene was horrific.

I’m just glad someone, somewhere has finally decided to take a fresh look at the whole Vampire thing. It’s about time, dammit!!

Someone else took a fresh look at the whole Vampire thing - she’s called Stephanie Meyer and the work in question is called Twilight (maybe you haven’t heard of it). The difference between that and Being Human is that Twilight is shit.

Sorry I started the thread and then neglected it! Life interfered. Anyway, I’m getting caught up. Finished ep 5 last night, with Mitchell killing the corrupt cop who thought he could turn vampires into his personal attack dogs, Annie getting a ghost baby (too funny) and George just being George I guess. Oh yeah, he gets tourette’s and violent if his inner wolf doesn’t get to rage once a month.

The baby was funny, but if it can’t be hurt or get cold and cries all the time I think I’d end up guilty of some serious neglect.

You know, Mitchell could have killed the cop without feasting on him. C’mon Mitchell! I don’t ever want to see the 60’s Cindy Brady hairdo ever again. Ever!

Back later.

Well I’m still watching!

Can only agree that this weekend’s episode was much better than the previous few, and perhaps the best of the series.

I know they’ve been building up to this for most of the series, but it also seems that they’ve got a lot to fit in to the final episode. I really think they could have expunged much of the filler in the series, get to this point sooner and spend more time reaching the conclusion. Of course, they can’t let Mitchell get too nasty as they’ll want to maintain the audience’s sympathy for the character in to the possible next series. Undoubtedly he’ll recover from his vampiric break and end the series attempting to be human again after saving (and thus being saved by) his friends.

OB

We’re still waiting on this side of the pond for the second series. but I do have one question:

Without getting too spoilery, could some one tell me whether the matter of the kid that Mitchell turned last season was resolved?

I still get shivers thinking about him turning to his mother and telling her that he was hungry. What the hell was she going to feed him?

No, neither he or his mother have appeared in this season, and I don’t think he’ll ever return. As for what she was going to feed him - another person of course.

Well they certainly finished the series in style.

Some bits were predictable, but the ending was good.

Toby Whithouse’s vision of the afterlife is scarier than anything else. The horrible mundane beaurocracy of the place is more evil than pitchforks and flames any day. As an atheist and anti theist I don’t believe in any of this, but if there were an afterlife, my inner cynic says it would be as bad as this.

Good news, looks like they are planning a third series.

Just watched the last two eps. Very good!

I read an article or interview or something with the producer and he specifically said they didn’t want MItchell to be averse to sunlight or not have a reflection because it would basically be a pain in the ass and cost more for effects. But then they went and did it.

The older guy who plays the priest is awesome. He doesn’t get a pass because his wittle famwy got ate by vamps. That doesn’t excuse his attitude towards werewolves, ghosts and apparently even regular human sensitives. What a jerk. And man, did they do a job on The Church. Apparently the writers don’t have very pleasant memories of Catholic school or something. Could they possibly have made them all creepier?

Great line from George to the priest: “just because something doesn’t have an explanation doesn’t mean you own it.”

How did Mitchell feel it when Annie crossed over? Why didn’t George?

Hey! Did Annie not just pass her test of being able to resist and shut the door? Then she gets sucked in? Oh well, she’ll be back. They’ve mentioned several times now how she’s different from other ghosts and apparently way too powerful for a ghost. Good. The afterlife will probably just toss her back because she’s such a pain. “Shut up, just leave!”

The voice message Annie left for George. Wasn’t anyone else wondering if her voice even could be recorded?

I was hoping Mitchell would bite Lucy and Nina would scratch her good and then she’d have to suffer both curses. Did it look like resurrected vamp guy at the end was part werewolf?

I read they’re working on an American version. I really wish they wouldn’t. No way this show could keep the same look and feel in the US, never mind showing us George all naked at least once per episode. Which I don’t mind!

I felt the same way, they really had it in for the church, not that I mind particularly as I’m not a believer anyway.

Not sure why one would feel it and the other not. Maybe it’s an undead thing. I hope Annie will be back, especially as the afterlife doesn’t seem to be much to wite home about.

This struck me as a homage to Poltergeist, but done well.

I agree, no offence to our transatlantic cousins, but it just wouldn’t work in America, it would be too schmaltzy and the anti religious angle would never be kept. This is one of those programmes that, like Doctor Who, only the Brits can do well.
