Bejeweled Blitz if proof that Satan exists.

A facebook friend introduced me to this game, and it is clearly the work of the Devil. Each game last one minute, yet I am incapable of playing for less than an hour at a time. Chores go undone. Sleep is lost. Cats who walk in front of the monitor get yelled at.

Anyone else share my obsession? What other stupid little games can you not stop playing???

Good Og, yes! Did your brother challenge you, and then go on to score over 150K points?! Thus encouraging your addiction even further?! Heh!

No, it’s not an obsession. I can quit any time I want.
<twitch>

One hour later… why, oh why, did I decide to look up Bejeweled Blitz?

How the hell are people scoring over 125k at this stupid game?

My max is about 90k and that was pretty much a fluke.

Stupid game…I can stop whenever I want to.

Create chains of four as soon as possible (preferably in the lower part of the game board). Explode the subsequent glowing block right away. That will usually be enough to create enough of a chain reaction to get a multiplier. Grab the multiplier right away. Repeat.

If you manage to put together a hypercube, all the better – they’re terrific when you have a high multiplier.

Most important – all of the above is worthless without speed. If, at any time, I find myself looking at the board and not seeing a move for more than two seconds (literally), then I just start over – you’re almost always screwed when that happens. The biggest points come from the speed bonus, and hesitating kills it. Gotta keep piling on the moves (basically, if you have to click the “hint” button, you’re out of luck).

Top score so far is over 190k.

One comment on this: Keep in mind, all good scores in this game are flukes. It’s rare that you get a board where a great score is anywhere near possible. It’s a matter of honing your skills during the crappy boards that make you able to take advantage of the good ones. I probably play fifty games in order to get one in which I crack 100k.

Now my eyes are scratchy and bloodshot and I didn’t eat anything on my lunch beak. Thanks a lot.

I used to really enjoy a Neopets game that’s a lot like this except that as you match things you get more time. I wish there was an option like that for this.

That and Mafia Wars kills most of my free time.

The instructions you get before the game are not very thorough, to say the least. I actually played for quite some time before it dawned on me that the multipliers multiply your score for the rest of the game, not just that particular move. I never used to chase them, figuring I’d be better off making other moves more quickly. :smack:

When I realized the error of my ways, my scores improved immensely.

Another thing, but this might just be me – certain backgrounds I find unplayable. I just can’t get my eyes to properly focus on the gems. If that’s the case, then I just keep restarting the game until it scrolls through to a new background.

Yeah, I have a hard time with that too.

There went another break - my eyes are watering and my mousing hand is a little cold and numb, because the heater is under my desk.

I have managed to avoid this one. Mafia Wars and Farm Town are work enough.

Should I ask for a link? Nah, probably not.

Damn it, would you believe I stayed half an hour late at work? This has got to stop.

I just scored 63,700 as my highest score ever and it was luck.

76,000. Luck, of course.

118,400!!! I don’t even know how it happened. I had three bleary-eyed games where I didn’t crack 10,000 and then boom!

Bejewled Blitz is addictive.

So is Boomshine. Yes, I have it open on another screen right now. Do you know how many times I have hit 53 or 54 out of 55 on that last damn screen!!!:mad::mad:

I don’t even touch Boomshine anymore. I have it as an iPhone app, even. I should delete it just to be safe.
