No huge surprises there, except maybe New Age - I don’t believe in chakras, crystals, candles, reincarnation or any other “New-Agey” stuff like that.
Not sure what this is:
15. New Thought (34%)
Mildly concerned about:
16. Scientology (33%)
Re that lack of “Atheism” as a category, and the apparent reluctance to put “Nontheist” at the top of the list (given that it comes from a religious website) - I was wondering what the difference would be between “Secular Humanism” and “Atheist” or “Nontheist”.
I remember my dear friend Eric pointing me at a quiz on this site last May, but I think it was a quiz designed to find out what kind of Christian you were. (“You’d better answer #1 for most of these,” he said… and after I took the test, “Wow, you scored even higher than I did!”)
So I decided to take this test, and here are my results:
Orthodox Judaism (100%)
Sikhism (97%)
Orthodox Quaker (96%)
Seventh Day Adventist (96%)
Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (90%)
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (89%)
Eastern Orthodox (89%)
Roman Catholic (89%)
Islam (87%)
Reform Judaism (79%)
Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (77%)
Jehovah’s Witness (76%)
Bahá’í Faith (71%)
Liberal Quakers (68%)
Hinduism (61%)
Unitarian Universalism (56%)
Jainism (45%)
Neo-Pagan (38%)
Mahayana Buddhism (34%)
Theravada Buddhism (32%)
Secular Humanism (30%)
New Age (29%)
Scientology (26%)
Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (26%)
Taoism (25%)
New Thought (22%)
Nontheist (22%)
Me, an Orthodox Jew? I think not. The Seventh-Day Adventist and the LDS ones really concern me, as they’re so high up on the list! I’d say I was more a mainline Christian Protestant than anything else (I was raised in that religious sphere, more or less), yet it only has 77%.
I’ve taken this test twice over the last three months or so. The first time I took it, my top three were:
Neo-Pagan (100%)
Unitarian Universalism (95%)
Liberal Quakers (93%)
My current results are:
Unitarian Universalism (100%)
Neo-Pagan (92%)
Liberal Quakers (90%)
The results make sense to me. I grew up Roman Catholic, but my views have always been more Unitarian (although, until recently, I didn’t know there was a term to describe my beliefs).
I had my mom take the test a few months ago, and Unitarian Universalism was one of her top results, too. This test has started some very interesting discussions on religion in our house.
