Belief System Selector

So I went to http://www.selectsmart.com/RELIGION and took the test there. It wasn’t easy picking some of the choices, but I managed somethng vaguely like my beliefs.

My highest ratings were for Baha’i and Sikh. Ooo-kay, that’s a bit weird.

I tried again, with somewhat different answers, and more quickly. Now it tells me I’m a Unitarian!

Oh, well…

Apparantly I’m a Liberal Quaker. I had no idea I was one.

Apparently, I’m a secular humanist.

Go figure.

I agree with foolsguinea that on some of the questions, none of the choices really “fit” my belief. Anyway, it says I am a Liberal Protestant. Since I am a practicing Methodist, I guess that fits.

And Triton what IS a Liberal Quaker?
(Not to be confused with a Liberal Quacker, like Daffy Duck, but not Scrooge McDuck)

runs and ducks … er, runs and hides

foolsguinea I feel I ought to say (because someone will  ) that this has been done before. However, I, for one, am overjoyed to see it again - as I had pretty much forgotten it and now want to recommend it to a few other people

The ones towoard the bottom of the list worry me somewhat. hmmm - why 15 % R.C. and so on?

It is a lot of fun though!

I’m a 100% Jew, who Knew?! Reform, to be specific ;j

And I am only 72% Roman Catholic. Though that’s what I am.

Well, Sapphire, I’m RC too and I only scored 45% – whereas I scored 100% for Liberal Protestant. (Liberal Quaker and UU also got pretty high scores.)

I still don’t have this whole religion thing figured out yet…

(That site also has a “What Kind of Catholic Are You?” test – I’m progressive, it says, which is about right.)

  1. Liberal Quaker
  2. Reform Judaism (since this may be my only chance to use this smiley… ;j)
  3. Unitarian Universalist

Well, sounds pretty diverse to me. Actually, the label I use to identify myself, agnostic, was a ways down the list.

Mahayana Buddhism (100%)

Bingo!

Where do I collect my prize? Ah, shit, I’m supposed to give all my merit to the inextinguishable ocean of wisdom…grumble grumble…

My list:

Interesting, since I am Roman Catholic. Some of these, I know very little to nothing about. The 24% for atheist and agnostic surprises me quite a bit.

Oh wait…the percentage for Scientology surprises me even more. And scares me a little…

And from an atheist:

  1. Secular Humanism (100%)
  2. Unitarian Universalism (96%)
  3. Liberal Quakers (83%)
  4. Theravada Buddhism (82%)
  5. Neo-Pagan (76%)
  6. Atheists and Agnostics (72%)
  7. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (65%)
  8. Taoism (56%)
  9. Mahayana Buddhism (54%)
  10. New Age (54%)
  11. Orthodox Quaker (50%)
  12. Reform Judaism (50%)
  13. Sikhism (45%)
  14. Jainism (41%)
  15. Scientology (37%)
  16. Bahá’í Faith (36%)
  17. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (33%)

  24. Orthodox Judaism (23%)
  25. Jehovah’s Witness (19%)
  26. Eastern Orthodox (19%)
  27. Roman Catholic (19%)

Something fishy about their algorithm, methinks.

  1. Secular Humanism (100%)
  2. Unitarian Universalism (100%)
  3. Liberal Quakers (85%)
  4. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (76%)
  5. Atheists and Agnostics (75%)
  6. Neo-Pagan (75%)
  7. Theravada Buddhism (75%)
  8. New Age (66%)
  9. Taoism (62%)
  10. Reform Judaism (60%)

  13. Orthodox Quaker (53%)
  14. New Thought (44%)
  15. Scientology (42%)

  22. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (28%)
  23. Seventh Day Adventist (20%)
  24. Eastern Orthodox (18%)
  25. Roman Catholic (18%)

Hmm, I used to think I was a Roman Catholic…

From a culturally Jewish atheist:

Secular Humanism (100%)
Atheists and Agnostics (96%)
Unitarian Universalism (92%)
Theravada Buddhism (76%)
Liberal Quakers (72%)
Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (67%)
Neo-Pagan (61%)
Reform Judaism (60%)
Islam (57%)
Orthodox Judaism (57%)
Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (50%)
Bahá’í Faith (46%)
Eastern Orthodox (46%)
Roman Catholic (46%)
New Age (45%)
Scientology (45%)
Taoism (44%)
Jainism (43%)
Mahayana Buddhism (42%)
New Thought (42%)
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (42%)
Seventh Day Adventist (41%)
Sikhism (37%)
Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (35%)
Hinduism (35%)
Orthodox Quaker (32%)
Jehovah’s Witness (28%)

The top ones actually look right for me - Secular Humanism followed by Atheism followed by really relaxed religions - but why did all those highly dogmatic ones show up in the mid-range? And the relatively high score for Scientology disturbs me, since I am actually banned from any premises owned or operated by them. (I suppose there should’ve been a question like ‘are you already anthematized by any religion?’)

Took this test the first time around, but I’m glad someone resurrected it.

Same answers tho’. My father would probably go nuts to see that Catholicism was pretty low on the list.

For some reason, it seems to give a few answers at the top of most of lists. See glee’s, deepbluesea’s, and my answers, and it is fairly obvoius

[whine] Last time we played this, I got to be Neo-Pagan! [/whine]
