Manwich, preexisting conditions haven’t been a thing for a decade now. Although Trump and other Republicans have been trying to bring them back and lying about it.
That would be true, if it were the Santos M4A plan that simply removes the age eligibility requirement for Medicare. But as DrDeth pointed out, Bernie’s bill has literally nothing to do with Medicare except the misleading name.
In an interview over at The Intercept, noted centrist corporate neo-liberal shill Noam Chomsky said he was voting for Biden.
To be exact he said, “Of course, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second… I’m not going to vote for the destruction of organized human society.” He also said whatever hopes progressives have for the future, with “another Trump term, I don’t think we get that far.”
He also says “Failure to vote for Biden in this election in a swing state amounts to voting for Trump" and compares the #NeverBiden leftists to Communists in the '30s who refused to ally with social democrats against the Nazis: “We know where that led.”
I know Chomsky’s politics. I know Biden is not his dream president - in another recent interview he says “I would anticipate it would be essentially a continuation of Obama — nothing very great, but at least not totally destructive, and opportunities for an organized public to change what is being done, to impose pressures.”
But when he says it’s an easy decision considering the only other alternative, it should mean something. He was a teenager when World War II was being fought. He saw Hitler rallies as a youth and said that Trump’s win four years ago reminded him of them. He is more worldly and a hell of a lot smarter than cosplay Socialists who don’t worry about such things because their lives are so damn cozy.
Thank you, it’s great Chomsky’s ideas are becoming more mainstream. I was surprised how few Americans dopers were familiar with his works, especially on the media. He is really so important in getting the “straight dope” as far as the US media’s presentation of ideas on invading countries, obeying corporate interests.
I’m impressed by Chomsky! I don’t recall his talking about elections much, but his politics are so radical I assumed he was the type who wouldn’t even vote, or would consider Bernie a sellout.
This is true and unsurprising. There are some Biden supporters who would have voted for Trump if Sanders received the nomination, out of fear of the nature of some Sanders proposals.
I profoundly disagree with all Trump voters and with all nonvoters, but I don’t have any extra layer of disagreement with the folks who would’ve voted for Sanders but are voting instead for Trump. I just figure they’re a particular type of low-information, low-logic, or low-empathy Trump voter who vaguely liked Sanders too.
Biden has also won the Wisconsin primary by 30 points, which occurred while Bernie was still technically in the race. Four years ago, Sanders beat Clinton by 13 points. Biden is clearly doing better in one vs one match-ups than Hillary did. Republicans should be very scared by these numbers. Trumps not running against Hillary again.
So, I googled this guy. He doesn’t think Biden speaks normally (Trump does?) or that he could handle the pressure of the presidency (Trump can?) I honestly cannot understand Trump voters.
And the thing is, although Rogan is usually not as smart as his guests, he’s smart enough to not look like a complete idiot when conversing with them (most of the time). It’s disappointing.
The issue is that people have conditions that exist and might not have health care. Their conditions exists before they have a job. Between jobs. During a job they want to leave but can’t because of their existing condition.
People with physical or mental issues that will certainly cost money to treat.
