Inspired by the “Most Disturbing Fortune Cookie” thread, let’s list the best fortunes you got at a Chinese restaurant.
There are three for me, all in 1982.
The first was at a dinner at a Lunacon. There was an agent there looking for clients and he agreed to read my novel. My fortune that night was “New ventures will be successful.” The agent took me on a month or so later.
Later that year, my fortune was “You will never have to worry about a steady income.” Interestingly, since then, though I’ve had job troubles, I’ve always managed to end up better.
Then, in October, I got one saying, “Soon you will be sitting on top of the world.” A month later, my novel sold and my daughter was born.
