Yeay!
Is it shown at the same time all over the US? Do I need a spoiler box?

Now if we could only get Peter Jackson to produce and direct some Star Trek stuff!
I paid no attention to the broadcast, but I’m happy that LOTR won. I was hoping for either that one or Master and Commander, but I think Rings had a lock on it.
I’m just glad it broke the genre barrier for Oscars.
Now I’m not complaining but just thought I’d say that spoiler boxes don’t work in the little preview from the main forum page. If anyone’s mouse drifted over the thread title and preview box popped up then they’d be told that. Odd that. I wonder if a several enter key strokes between the opening of the post and the spoiler text would do it? Oh well, like I said it didn’t bother me.
Hawaii time delays almost everything major from the networks so we saw it several hours after you all did. Although not having anything spoiled means avoiding the internet and every news network, especially those with scrolls, like the plague. Pretty impossible.
As for the victory, yes! If I had watched the broadcast I probably would have done a little dance. Peter Jackson and crew just put so much effort into the whole thing. Watching all the documentaries on the DVDs the commitment of absolutely everyone involved just blows you away. Just incredible. Why isn’t it november yet so I can buy “The Return of the King: Extended Edition”? I can’t wait to see what new things they’ve added to it.
As a fan of fantasy I’m excited. Although I also dread the coming splurge of cheap knockoffs. Kinda hard to lift a genre just as it’s shooting itself in the foot.
I’d like to think that WETA can doll up the Return of the King EE before November 2004. After all, there’s no reason to release it just prior to the next film to spike ticket sales 'cos there’s no film this year. And because they’re not working on Lord of the Rings Part Four while working on the Extended Edition, one would think they’d have more time to hammer it out.
But if it comes out in November you can get it for me for my birthday.
Well THAT just sucks! Any way to fix this rather annoying bug?
I don’t know. The only thing I know that doesn’t translate into the preview box is the quote function.
but as you can see, if you put quotes in spoilers, then everything is revealed. looks at the box That actually looks pretty cool. And I saw a frame in somebodys post in GQ. Lots of cool stuff in the update, but that one sucks. I mentioned it in ATMB but nothing seems to have come of it. Probably just have to type 7 lines of text before the box. Even if they’re all blank lines it should work. I think.
Only if you get it for me for my birthday. Tell you what, if you let me keep your copy then you can have my copy. Deal?
Wait a minute. Before, wasn’t the theatrical release out in August? This year it’s coming May 25th. Might indeed be earlier. crosses fingers
Deal!
I could always hand-deliver it but it’s a long walk from here to Waikiki.
I’m glad ROTK won, but I would have liked to have seen the awards spread out a bit more. “American Splendor” could have used a Best Adapted Screenplay nod, for one.
Unfortunately, I heard that ROTK:EE is still set for November, even though the theatrical DVD will be out in May. My impression is that Weta is already hard at work prepping for King Kong (in addition to several other films, including Evangelion and the Chronicles of Narnia), and thus cannot finish the new effects for ROTK:EE any faster than they did for the previous Extended Editions.
Is anyone else disturbed by the prospect of Fish and Fern Forest getting the EE for a “birthday present”? My precioussss!
“It’ss hersss, we tell you, herss! We just boughts it, precious, but it’s too far to walk, yess, too far to walk to faraway island! So we tradeses it, yess precious, we tradeses it. Nasty faraway island with beaches and coconutses and tropical paradises, yess, we hates them all! Fortunately we kept the receipt.”
Um, doesn’t quite roll off the tongue, Chronos, but thanks for the concern.
