ROTK EE Preview

This is for the LOTR geeks on the board:
The Return of the King Extended Edition preview is up and viewable at the www.lordoftherings.net site. Shows bits of the “new scenes”!
Can’t wait

And to pre-empt the inevitable question:

No, there will not be a scouring of the Shire.

Dec 14? I can’t wait that long! :frowning:

Mucho cool-osity. I’m glad to see the Mouth of Sauron; I didn’t picture him that way, but who cares. (I pictured him as more effete, less horrific).

50 minutes! There’ll be four commentaries and each will be 4 hours 10 mins!

Crikey by jeepers! This is gonna be so cool!

Saw something a bit odd this weekend. In Australia, a 12 Disc box set with all three extended editons will be released on December 10th. Pre-order advertisement here, which mentions that no international orders will be filled. I imagine this set will be available in the US and elsewhere after the holidays, probably in a package with one of those statuettes.

I am stoked. Looks like all the great missing scenes everyone’s been talking about – such as Aragorn wresting control of the Palantir from Sauron and the bit with the Mouth of Suaron – are here. Now the trilogy will be complete!

If only we could talk New Line into doing an “Extended Trilogy” release like they did last year with the first two movies. I want to see it all on the BIG SCREEN!!

Oh well, we takes what we gets, eh, my Precious?

We’re getting an extented edition movie marathon on the 25th of November.

Oh yeah!

DAMN YOU WHB! Now Dec. 14th seems even longer away!!

I like how the trailer says “20 hours of bonus material” when you just know that 16 of those hours are the 4 commentaries. Wait, actually I hate that. Or both. Eh, whatever. This DVD will kick ass no matter what.

I have a slight hijack. I know that if you order the “gift set”, you also get a music CD and the Minas Tirith statue thing. But I had also heard there is another set that also has a Minas Morgul statue thing. If this is true, I gotta have it. However, I have not seen any official reference to this Minas Morgul statue anywhere. Have I been had be a viciously untrue internet rumor?

Usually if a rumor has even the vaguest support to it you will see a mention of it on theonering.net. However, I just looked and didn’t find anything, so I’m guessing this is an unsubstantiated rumor. Too bad, it would be cool to have both towers …

The Minas Morgul statue is available, but you have to pay extra. If you buy the gift set, there should be a slip of paper telling you how to order the other statue. AFAIK, the Minas Morgul statue is only available to gift set owners.

Both Minas Morgul and Minas Tirith come with the EE Collector’s DVD Gift Set.

Here is Minas Morgul.

And here is Minas Tirith.

Pretty sweet, huh.

I knew if there was something to it it’d be on theonering.net; I must have just searched on the wrong terms. Thanks, Jack, for finding it!

It’s a companion piece, which means (in their language) that you can buy it with the set if you want.

Go to this page and click on the gift set. Notice, they don’t even mention Minas Morgul. That would be quite odd if it was actually included.

Also, look at the box (third image down, as the site doesn’t let you link to images directly). There’s no way you could fit two statues in there.

I want it now!

I’m trying to organize a giant EE-trilogy party with my friends, but they’re all sissies and want to do it over 2 days.

I didn’t get the special versions of the other two, with the statuettes, and I regret it. I will definitely be buying the Minas Tirith gift set for myself this year. It opens up! You can keep *stuff * in it!

They did the same thing with the TTT:EE gift set. The statuette included in the set was of Gollum in “Smeagol” mode (looking kind of innocent). There was also a paper telling you how to order a companion piece that looked very much the same except that he is in “Gollum” mode (baring his teeth).

Oh, so sad to see Minas Ithil, the Tower of the Moon, Isildur’s city, laid so low by the Dark Lord!

Neat model tho.

Not nice to tease us, no my Prrrrrrrrrrrrrrecious…

We wants it!

I have been a good boy…saw all three in the movie theater, but have waited until the entire set comes out in EE to see them on DVD. Have not seen any of them on DVD yet.

SO, look for me in line on December 14 to buy the entire set in one fell swoop. Then, I go home, lock the door, turn off the phone and intend to watch it all over the course of one weekend, at which point I will probably look like Gollum when finished.
