I don’t think there’s any time travel in that movie, and the movie hasn’t got a thing to do with Brazil either, so that would sorta rule that out. I think we’ve figured out the real joke already. Do you know why the line was changed, mobo? Did they say?
I like the Evil Krusty Doll one:
Time and Punishment was the first one that came to mind before opening the thread. But my second-favorite is probably the parody of The Monkey’s Paw.
Kang/Kodos: Foolish earthlings! Your superior intellect is no match for our puny weapons!
Bart: Great! Now we’re slaves! This paw sucks.
and the Devil and Daniel Webster parody, with Flanders as the Devil, and the classic “mmmm…forbidden donut” line. And Nixon on the jury… “yes, master”.
Cripes! I forgot about Evil Krusty doll. Definitely in my top 4. (if for no other reason than Krusty’s evil laugh running out when his string winds up. Absolutely slays me.)
Ah here’s your problem, someone set this doll to “evil”.
“Marge! The doll’s tryin’ to kill me and the toaster’s been laughin’ at me…!”
“That doll is evil! EEEEEEE-VILLLLLLL!!!”
“Grandpa, you say that about every toy.”
My favorite is The Monkey’s Paw.
Lisa: I wish for world peace!
Homer: LISA! That was very selfish of you!!
Regarding “Genesis Tub”: I saw an episode of South Park(don’t know its name or even whether South Park episodes have names) where Doctor Chaos is frustrated in his plans to wreak havoc because every evil scheme he can think of has already been done on The Simpsons. In a parallel plot, Cartman orders some “Sea People” and is disappointed to learn they are nothing but brine shrimp. Through plot complications I won’t describe here, some human semen gets mixed into to the Sea People’s aquarium and somehow turns them into tiny sentient beings living at an accelerated pace. Doctor Chaos (in his civilian alter-ego, forget the name) walks in on this, and points out to the group that The Simpsons already did that bit. Chef advises Doctor Chaos that “nothing’s really original,” and even that Simpson’s episode was based on an old Twilight Zone episode.
That news cheered up Dr. Chaos, but it flummoxed me. I thought I had seen all the Twilight Zone episodes but I never saw that one. Anybody know more about it? I’ve never read Sturgeon’s “Microcosmic God” – could the TZ episode have been based on it? When was it written?
Okay, here’s a wish they can’t screw up. I wish for a club sandwich! poof …They forgot the lettuce! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
(paraphrase)
And I love how when Flanders get the Monkey’s Paw, everything turns out great.
Actually, the turkey was a little dry.
From Dial Z for Zombies
“Die you pasty faced goons”!
(what band was that BTW?)
[Homer]
Mmmmm… Erotic cakes…

Kent: Kent Brockman here, with Campaign '96: America Flips A Coin. At an appearance this morning, Bill Clinton made some rather cryptic remarks, which aides attributed to an overly tight necktie.
Kodos: I am Clin-Ton. As overlord, all will kneel trembling before me and obey my brutal commands. [crosses arms] End communication.
Marge: Hmm, that’s Slick Willie for you, always with the smooth talk.
From Treehouse of Horror VII. This one’s definitely the Best. Simpsons. Halloween. Short. Ever.
Kang: “Abortions for all!”
Audience: “BOO!”
Kang: “Hmmn. Abortions for none!”
Audience: “BOO!”
Kang: “Hmmn… Abortions for some, tiny American flags for others!”
Audience: “YAAY!”
Don’t blame me, -I- voted for Kodos!
Another vote for Time and Punishment
Zenster, maybe I will bring my son to Portland Dopefest… you can talk Simpsons with him!
While the Halloween episodes are definitely some of the best int he series, a personal favourite…
Edgar Winter
‘Time and punishment’ is my favorite as well.
Ahh… Thank you.
Just one more piece of Simpsons Trivia to annoy my friends with…
I also loved “Time and Punishment.” But another classic that no one has mentioned here was Terror at 5 and a half feet a spoof from the old Twilight Zone movie.
And another good one from the same episode was The Devil and Homer Simpson.
Mmmm… forbidden donut.
“Oh good! The curtains are on fire!”
Fear not, SuperNova, “The Devil and Homer Simpson” with the forbidden soul doughnut remains one of my favorites as well. When the Devil introduces the jury of the damned, there’s the entire lineup of that losing sports team on it as well. Gotta love stuff like that.
The automatic doughnut feeding machine that is unable to torture Homer is fricking fabulous. It’s all so good.
