Best Way to buy Cubs Tickets?

I’m going to Chicago on the 27th, and I’m dying to see a game at venerable Wrigley Field. I’d love to sit in the bleachers, but the Cubs website said they were sold out (in the bleachers) for the game on the 27th, which is the only date I can make it to.

So, what’s my best bet? How much will scalpers want for bleacher seats? Do they put some last-minute tickets on sale at the box office? Should I just forget the bleachers and get a regular seat? Better yet, any Chicago dopers have any tickets they can’t use?

Also, any reccomendations for Wrigleyville bars and restaraunts would be greatly appreciated.

Sclapers are good. Prices depend on the game. I have good friends who have gotten $5 or $10 bleacher seats this season for some games and others are quite a bit more. If you wait until after the game starts its much easier to get cheap tickets.

If it’s any consolation, I am going to the game on the 26th (their first home game in almost 2 weeks) and I am planning on buying from scalpers–and the 26th is memorial day. My friend and I might be limitted to some crappy seats, but what can you do? The online brokers are too expensive.

As for bars and restaurants, once you get to the Wrigley area, go north or south on Clark or south on Sheffield to find some fun places. If they weather is nice, those places will be hoppin’.

db4530, since you’ve bought from scalpers, maybe you can clue me in. I once bought a couple of tickets from somebody right outside Wrigley Field just before the game started. A short time after the game was under way somebody told me I was sitting in their seats, and brought security with them. The same seats were printed on both sets of tickets. What kind of scam did I fall for?

Hrm, it’s possible it was a legit misprint, but the fact you got it from a scalper sure makes it suspect. But hell, if it got you in the stadium, that ain’t too bad.

Oh, and if you see someone scalping post-season Cub tickets, don’t buy them, for they do not exist.

Thanks. I was wondering if it might have been a case of me buying stolen tickets, then the guy they were stolen from shows up with “replacement” tickets. I’m not even sure if that’s the way it works if your ticket gets stolen, though.

A little tip for what NOT to do…

And I love the Cubs, too.

Weasels.
