Better Call Saul - Finale

I thought Mike would shoot… and that’s how Hector? ends up in the wheel chair.

So, yeh… Mike has been watched by a third party for a while now. Gus doesn’t want his revenge stolen from him.

Also, would that recording be admissible in court, since Jimmy wasn’t aware?

It was said that Hector had a stroke in prison… I think.

I HATED the beginning. Jimmy and Chuck’s mother dying that way was cheesy IMHO. I’m really shocked they thought it was a good idea to have ‘in their last breath’ trope.

I’m sure we’re all thinking Gus is a potential candidate for leaving Mike the note.

New Mexico only requires one party consent.

Jimmy needs to erase that tape.

Magnets bitches!

I’m guessing this isn’t a spoiler since Vince Gilligan basically confirmed it on Talking Saul, but the first letter in each episode title -rearranged - spells out: ‘Fring’s back’

In other words: who left the note on Mike’s car?

Thing is, Mike wouldn’t shoot to maim. But at some point, Mike will meet his future employer.

Wow Chuck is devious…worthy of an evil genius…

What great coup has Chuck made? He thinks he’s got a tape with Jimmy confessing to a felony. But Jimmy already has an out, he can torpedo whole tape by claiming that he was making up a confession to try to get his brother to snap out of his latest insanity. It’s certainly plausible - Chuck says so on the recording. Jimmy has evidence that he isn’t out to screw his brother, if he wanted to take advantage of Chuck he could have just had Chuck committed like the doctor wanted but didn’t. Sure he gets Jimmy to say on the tape that it’s for real, but it’s not like he’s actually under oath. Meanwhile, Howard has to be worried about Chuck’s stability after the quit, and probably has been grilling Ernesto about what’s going on. Howard doesn’t have Chuck or Kim’s insight into Jimmy, so probably thinks that doctoring documents is way beyond what Jimmy would do, especially since he knows Jimmy could have had Chuck committed twice if he really wanted to destroy Chuck.

So you’ve got a guy who dresses like a baked potato and rants about electric sensitivity while making paranoid claims about his brother trying to argue that his brother is dishonest enough to forge documents to undermine him but honest enough not to lie about forging documents. Meanwhile his brother will argue that he just said stuff to make foil man feel better, and that if he wanted to screw Chuck over he could have just had him committed. I think Chuck trying to out-Jimmy Jimmy is going to backfire horribly.

Also, my opinion of Chuck dropped a lot with the reveal about their mother’s death and his outright lie about her dying words. His code of honor just conveniently vanished when it might cost him superiority points against Jimmy.

Vince Gilligan went into that very thing on Talking Saul. It’s complicated, but understandable, why Chuck didn’t tell Jimmy. It has to do with Chuck being the golden boy-good child, dots all the i’s and crosses all the t’s (in Vince’s own words), while Slippin’ Jimmy cuts corners, gets away with everything and is loved more by their mother. It’s totally consistent with his putting down Jimmy when they’re talking about his passing the bar.

I am curious where that fits within the timeline, though it’s unlikely ever to be revealed.

As for the tape, that copy clerk will crack like an egg if he’s ever questioned by the cops.

One other thing…Jimmy goes into his motive for switching the addresses, in detail, on tape. Pretty believable for just trying to make his brother feel better.

Dammit I love this show.
I don’t get why Mike is so pissed at Hector though, I mean I kinda do but it does seem a little forced.

Kinda losing interest in this sibling rivalry… Mike’s story arc didn’t move at all. No Kim and the commercial is boring as shit… Meh.

I agree, Chuck will have a hard time proving that Jimmy is guilty. Considering how Jimmy has been taking care of Chuck, and only did a temporary guardianship when he could have done more, Jimmy looks like a good guy. Ernesto, the HHM person who’s spent the most time with Chuck lately, thinks that Chuck is trying to bring Jimmy down.

But with Chuck escalating things, I think one or the other will be permanently hurt. Chuck is committed to bringing Jimmy down, but I don’t know if Jimmy would be able to follow through with Chuck. If Chuck tries to get Jimmy disbarred, but Jimmy’s defense is that Chuck was acting crazy and paranoid and covering his house with tin foil, Chuck could really lose all the legal respect he’s earned over the years. Jimmy never set out to destroy Chuck, he just wanted Kim to get Mesa Verde back, but Chuck really does want to put Jimmy back in his place.

I don’t think Chuck will prosecute Jimmy - I think he’ll threaten him:

“You stop being a lawyer or I turn you in.”

As for the note; it has to be Gus Fring, or at least one of his hired guns (Victor) and he’s been watching him watching Hector for quite some time now.

So Gus ends up hiring Mike, and that’s how Saul meets Gus?

But when Chuck talked to Kim, he thought it was important that she know the truth, and that Mesa Verde know the truth. Chuck doesn’t see himself as someone who’s just trying to destroy Jimmy, even if that’s what it looks like from the outside, he sees himself as someone who stands for the rules and order and truth. I don’t think Chuck would blackmail Jimmy like that, because he’d see that as something Jimmy would do.

Great episode. I liked it better than the rest of season altogether.

The long scene with Mike out in the desert was masterful use of the art, no dialogue, little action, but riveting still.

Chuck and Jimmy hate each other and themselves, they’ll never be able to reconcile their differences.

I’m sure Saul never mentioned Gus in Breaking Bad, and that there’s no reason to assume that Saul knew anything about Gus, including his identity.

I mean, Saul knew Mike had an employer who was a big bad, but I’m sure Mike was never the type to gossip and drop names.

Right. If I recall correctly, Saul told Walt “I know a guy who knows a guy” or something to that effect.

Saul/Jimmy was a great BB character, but isn’t this really the show about Mike? Isn’t he the guy we wanted to see more of?

And isn’t Rhea Seehorn great here? I don’t think I’ve seen anything else she was in, but she’s nailing this character and I expect we’ll see a lot more of her. I’d almost hope something happens to Kim so Rhea can move onto other parts sooner.
