Better Call Saul season 5 (spoilers)

Then again, if the guys Gus chose really were “highly skilled the best in their business” types, it’s not a stretch to think that they are as cool headed about business as Gus and he would have just paid them all up front to keep everything neat and tidy with as few loose ends as possible. I mean, if you trust that team to do a job like that, you can probably trust to pay them all up front. Plus, being as how they are the best, they probably know Gus isn’t someone to fuck over.

But then again, Gus sent in TREVOR Team Six instead so who knows.

These writers are great, but they aren’t going to factor any of these details into what they portray going forward unless it suits their purposes. If they want Gus to keep believing Lalo is dead for their plot purposes, they will not concern themselves with any of the details like the assassin team disappearing, or for that matter the fact that I’d think even in Mexico a massacre like this would make the news at some point. Only if they decide it will work for the story to have Gus find out and start sweating it again, will they incorporate any of these wrinkles.

Of course I have no problem with someone disagreeing with me; in fact, it’s good.
I come to the SDMB to learn about other views.

But I disagree that you’re responding in the same way as my posts.
Because I just stated an opinion, following by “IMO”. I also said “I could be wrong”. And I pointed out a couple of things in your posts I agreed with.

Then your response includes twice implying I’m “playing a game” or being disingenuous. I am not; I am trying to discuss the show.

So, getting back to it: let’s discuss Howard.

It’s pretty clear the showwriters never intended him to be a big bad. He has plenty of sympathetic moments; he’s expressed admiration and respect for Kim and Jimmy on many occasions and genuine concern for Chuck, and now Kim. If anything he’s started to look like a pitiful character, that both Kim and Jimmy have looked down upon recently.

It’s important to the character that he thinks of himself as honest, and indeed, I can’t think of an occasion where he lied.
It seems that you’re agreeing that he hasn’t outright lied, since in your response to Snarky_Kong you seem to be describing the hiring thing as a lie by omission.

I would disagree with that; there are plenty of things we all need to hold back, that in itself doesn’t make us liars except in extreme cases.
But more than that, note what happened next: Kim confronted Howard, and he revealed all. So why would Kim see him as dishonest?

Finally finished the season (went back and re-watched last season first because it had been so long). Also finally made it through this thread.

Regarding how they connected to Nacho’s cell phone: cell site simulators.
