Better late than never MMP

Yay for babies doing well LiLi. There was also a couple of other babies born this week in my circle of friends. So I need to get cards and stuff mailed off to those.

I am gearing up to the monthly conf call from hell next Thursday. 10 hours worth of conference call. :frowning:

In other good news my sister is newly engaged so I get to buy a pretty dress sometime in the near future and party like a rock star at home.

It is almost Friday I almost made it through this week unscathed!

Just finished e-filing our taxes. We’ll be getting a refund, mainly because they withheld from my retirement incentive check at a higher-than-normal rate. It’s destined for savings to replenish what was depleted when we bought the car.

I also ran the vacuum - the new one is really great - it sucks good!! I’m really surprised about the amount of crud it extracts from the carpet - I guess our old vac really was lousy. So yay for less cruddy carpets!

I suppose I should load the dishwasher now…

Honest to God, I know I was already crabby when I got here tonight, but the drama and sex talk before ASL class is going to drive me to drink.

I hesitate to say this, but I think my retirement pay account has been straightened out. I just logged into my checking account and saw a substantial deposit from the US Treasury and the notation suggests to me that it’s the back pay that they owe me. And, luckily enough, it’s almost exactly the amount we pulled out of savings to pay for the car. So savings has been replenished and maybe, just maybe, I’ll start receiving my proper pension in March.

Dang, if that is the case, I’ll have to find something else to complain about…

Daughter just drove up - we shall celebrate tonight! YAY!!!

Yaaaaay Mooooooooooom. I hope your account is in fact all straighened out!
Also Yaaaaaaay for Babbies progress, Li-li
I have recurring dreams about different places, including a amusement park with a golden dragon roller coaster, and an interdimentional record store.
Well, **PB **& I filed for our hitchin’ licence at the courthouse, got some lunch, went to the dollar sto, picked up Ma’s meds & the stuff we forgot at the grocery sto’ yesterday, & went to the library to make copies of the paperwork we need & to pick up a reserve book I had. I tired. I was up late cleaning too. I plan to do a lot of nothing this evening.

We checked out the new Chinese place for supper. Their wonton soup was good, but apparently unless you specify, they bring you a ***large ***bowl, which meant we weren’t as hungry for our main dishes. She got lo mein and I got something with shrimp, scallops, and veggies. We’ve both got leftovers for lunch. It was OK, but not really hot, and my hot tea was just a bit warmer than tepid. Plus the tab came to $35 - that’s pretty steep for Chinese, IMHO. And we had a new server who was *slooooooow *and not very attentive. I doubt that we’ll return.

**FCD **called - he’ll be home by midday tomorrow, so yay! Except I need to get up and clean frantically for a few hours. I kinda stayed in slob mode this week. So in the morning, I’ll change the sheets and towels, tidy the kitchen, clear off the breakfast bar, and start laundry. Good times!

I want chocolate - wish I had some…

I have dreams about the house I grew up in. In the dreams I am always on the front porch and never inside the house. It was a big porch and yeah I did spend a lot of time on it but you’d think sometine I’d dream about bein’ inside. Then again I am weird so there’s a possible explanation.

I filled out a buncha paperirk today. I even have an id, password and email account all set up for irk. Go Me! I have a hyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge manual to start readin’ and have access to some online tutorials should I so desire. I think this is what’s known as bein’ proactive.

Oh and I made chikin 'n rice, butterbeans, steamed baby carrots and rolls for dindin.

What really needs to happen is for OYKW to make enough money to support me in the lifestyle to which I would like to become accustomed and I’d make nummy dindins every night. I would, however, hire a butler to take care of household chores.

**swampy **- have you presented your idea to OYKW? Surely he’d leap at the chance… Talk about an offer you can’t refuse.

Gah, I just lost a rather lengthy (for me!) post, so I’m gonna try to re-create it from my faulty memory … LOL

Sorry that I haven’t been around much - I’m back to mostly lurking. I’m usually on Facebook, though, and you can find me there fairly easily. I’ve also been crocheting and even cooking and baking more since retirement. It’s nice to be able to do these things at a leisurely pace, let me tell you.

I know I am going to forget so much: welcome to the new posters, hugs and get well wishes to those in need, and definitely congratulations to LiLi and family on the births of Miriam and Elizabeth. There’s a picture of Miriam (I think!) up on LiLi’s blog, btw - she doesn’t look “furry” to me, although I understand what LiLi meant. Also, they were born on my daughters birthday!!

I made jambalaya for her birthday dinner, as well as a birthday cake, and cornbread muffins. I really like having the time to be able to do things like that now. That’s what she wanted to have, btw, not that I was in synch with Swampy - although that’s not a bad thing, mind you!! I’ve also been crocheting more, still working on a fairly large size afghan.

I just don’t have much to post about, I guess! LOL Got everyone off of my (rocky) lawn, I guess. Not much grass here, mostly rocks.

I’m home.

After this evening’s session of erectile dysfunction conversation we had poetry night. Fortunately there were no poems about ED. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mister Happy will
not stay up, hard to please wife
Small blue pill cures all

Thank you, I’ll be here all week. Try the veal.

If doing the household chores means drinking all the beerverages in the house, I’m your man.

Furry kids? Guess we know which side of Twilight you pull for, LiLi.

I’d settle for working less than 65 hours a week.

Do you ever wake up, remembering a dream, and you’re just so proud of what you dreamed that you need to go tell people?

Yeah, yesterday morning, I woke up from a Firefly dream. I was a down-at-the-heels pioneer woman who hired the crew to find my former mercenary husband who’d gone missing. And while I knew (in the dream) that my husband would come to a bad end (not his fault), the crew would do right by both me and him. Even Jayne, dammit.

Seriously, if I can figure out the rest of the plot, I think I’ve got a decent fan-fic in there.

In the meantime, I’m wondering where the hell today went. Yeah, I got up a little late (9 a.m.), but by the time I’d made breakfast, fed the dog, and run to the store, it was lunchtime. Here I’d planned to get caught up on all this paperwork, and I spent it instead trying to send my mom the info she needed for budget planning and vacation days. Then I ended up writing an email to my younger brother explaining that I love him very much, Dad is mentally deranged, and I’m going to be bugging him for help so Mom’s head doesn’t explode. I need to write a similar one to my older brother. I have no idea how either one of them will respond.

I still haven’t:

  • returned books to the library, renewed library books, donated books to the library, and checked out more easy-to-read phonics based books for one of my students.
  • gone to the dentist to get my new bite plate fitted
  • gotten my Community Emergency Response Team ID renewed
  • caught up on lesson plans (ex post facto, shhhhhh), written progress reports, or figured out how to contact students’ teachers when all I’ve got is a last name and a school as opposed to - I don’t know - AN EMAIL ADDRESS.

All that has to happen tomorrow by 3:30 p.m.

I have a lunch invite to spend time with my mom and a friend, and I’m going to have to turn it down, because I don’t friggin’ HAVE any time!

Still . . . it’s better than being depressed.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 44 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 66 and maybe rain. Good day to be inside if’n it does rain. For me inside means lookin’ over the hyuuuuuuuuuge manual for the new gig that starts Monday. Oh well, it’ll keep me outta trouble.

MOOOOOOM I agree. I see no downside to this plan at all.

And now this…

<ahem> clearing throat <ahem>

Whew! I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy needs to be fed.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Blurf.

Not only does t suck to irk on Firday, but I also have to give a big Dog and Pony Show in about 2 hours.

Yay for possible pension fix up, FCM.

Well, boo, Bobbio. Hope the dogs and ponies behave.

Kanga, the school websites might have email addresses. If not, I’d call the school office (or email them if you can find the address).

Need to get ready for irk. Yay! It’s Friday, and

Happy doggio Day!

Hugs.

GT

Happy Doggio Day!!!

<mental image of BBBobbio dressed like a ringmaster, complete with top hat, orchestrating said Dog and Pony Show - so much for Casual Firday!>

I woke up ridiculously early and tried to fall back to sleep without luck. So I’m up, showered, dressed, and I’ve stripped the bed, flipped the mattress, and I’m about to start laundry. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??? Then there’s breakfast - should I raid the fridge or run to WaWa for one of their decadent croissant sammiches… decisions, decisions…

Oh yeah, I also placed a big order on line with Joann’s - they’re having a big yarn sale and I figured I’d stock up. Is it wrong that I’ve shopped on line so many times that I have my credit card number memorized??

Off to forage or something.

ZOMFNG! you got me a pony for my birthday?!?!?!?!?!?!

I don’t feel any more decrepit today, I guess that’s a good sign.

Happy Birthday, Doggio!

Am up way too early. I’ve been up since around 4:00. Just can’t sleep and it sucks because I am tired.

Oh well, coffee is made and I’m just about done with the first giant mug.

The day calls for bill paying and errands. I’m glad we’re staying home for the weekend. I’m looking forward to it.

For now, I’m enjoying the peace and quiet since my husband has to work today. Even though I kind of resent being up this early on my day off, on the other hand, I won’t feel that I’ve wasted the day if I sleep in.

WaWa won, but I goofed and grabbed a biscuit sammich instead of a croissant. It was OK, but not what I wanted. Oh well…

First load is in the washer, watermaker is making water - we have to do a water change this weekend. My sweetie should be home in 4 or 5 hours.

It’s a pretty, sunny day and we should hit the low 50s today. If I was properly motivated, I’d hang the laundry out on the line. But I just can’t be bothered. I haz a attitude!

Happy birthday, Doggio! - hope you have a fab day and you’re not feeling too decrepit by the end of it all. Are you out celebrating tonight?

I will be out with 'im indoors and a friend who’s coming to visit - we’re going for a curry in honour of your big day.
