Big Bang 11/3--The Isolation Permutation

When it is revealed that Penny and Bernadette went wedding dress shopping without her, Amy becomes heartbroken.

It’s chick time!

Amy finally gets to second base!

AFF sure keeps seeming she could go for either gender and gets hornier by the episode.

Frankly, I thought that was a terrible episode. Beat us over the head with Amy’s bi-curiosity, in an extraordinarily boring and offensive way, why don’t you?

I was not impressed.

Overall I liked the episode while hoping that they dial AFF back a little.

Yeah, they’re just moving on to outright sexual harassment of Penny by Amy.

I know it might have hampered the funny but the “we’re sorry” should have been accompanied by the “here’s why we did it, but we’re still sorry since we should have just talked to you to begin with.”

Are they not allowed to say ‘batshit’ on the air? Or were the writers just being silly / trying to start a new trend?

They’ve been using “batcrap crazy” for a while. I think Penny was the first to use it in any earlier season, in reference to Sheldon.

I thought it was not as good as usual. When Sheldon is socially isolated, we can laugh, because Sheldon really truly doesn’t care; he’s satisfied with himself as he is. Amy, on the other hand, is just desperately lonely, and I don’t find that particularly funny, even though I laughed at the time at her ways of expressing it.

I don’t think Amy is so much bi-curious as that she has a serious girl-crush on Penny. By which I mean, she’d like to be Penny; she’s enthralled by her to the point where she’d be willing to sleep with her just for the joy of being chosen by Penny for anything, and the pleasure of being able to be with her.

I get it. This week I watched a TV program where there was a female guest star that I just found utterly and completely appealing. I was fascinated by her. I’m a straight female, and frankly not very interested in sex with anyone, let alone another woman, but if this woman had suddenly appeared at my door and wanted sex, I’d have definitely considered it. She was so pretty, and so charming, that I could definitely see myself getting swept away. But, really, if I could have my druthers, I’d simply be her. And I am neither lonely nor lacking in social skills the way AFF is.

So, yes, the show certainly had a lot of humor, but the humor was more cruel than usual. I found Amy to be very sad.

I laughed my ass off throughout the episode, but I wish they’d dial AFF back, too. Occasional, SMALL glimpses of her having a girl-crush on Penny was funny; this level of drooling is not.

Sheldon being forced to be a boyfriend (and the dickering between him and Amy) was hysterical, too. But, as we learned recently, he does have attractive and fully functional genitals.

Especially apt choice of words there. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you - I considered it as I typed it, and realized it was AWESOME!

Raj sure is a fifth wheel these days since everybody else has a girlfriend who is featured as a main character now. If they get rid of him they can rename the show “Friends - Nerd Edition.”

Those were some of the most hideous bridesmaids/bridal gowns I’ve ever seen, and I watch “Say Yes to the Dress” on a regular basis.

They’re sure as shit not gonna say “shit” at 8pm on broadcast. You gotta save those shenanigans for cable.

Am I the only one who missed the days when it was just the boys and Penny? Bernadette isn’t bad in small helpings, but I’ve never warmed to AFF; they seem to try way to hard too make the character funny and eccentric. Some of Mayim Bialik’s acting is painful to watch.

mmm

To each their own. I prefer AFF to Bernadette.

agreed. AFF’s idiosyncrasies are not as endearing as sheldon’s. it comes across as forced. it’s probably because sheldon’s rules are consistent and makes sense, whereas amy’s tendencies basically just mirror sheldon’s until it’s convenient for a joke - mostly when her (bi)sexuality shines through.

Amy is very funny, but a “dialing back” of her attraction to Penny would be very appropriate, I think. They are overdoing it!

Wow…again in the minority on a BBT episode…I LOVED it.

I thought it was one of the funniest ones in the whole series. I love love love AFF and her character to death so that’s probably a reason for it. I think everything she says is just Gold. I understand wanting to dial back her lesibanocity towards Penny, but 20 internet points to Oy! for explaining it the way she did, I think she’s right.

I also loved how Howard used the “Raj can’t talk in front of girls” thing against him by lying about what Raj whispered…funny funny stuff.

edit about my AFF love: I think she is what Sheldon’s character should be (and maybe even was intended to be): Really smart, very socially awkward, but not a 100% in-my-own-world complete and total waste of common sense.
