Big Bang Theory 10/27--"The Good Guy Fluctuation"

No, ‘We all won’ was at the beginning, in reference to their betting on the results of pranking Sheldon - Howard has asked who bet that he was going to faint, Raj said that his money was on wetting his pants - and Leonard delivered the punchline.

Well, “alone in this” in a “haven’t read the posts in this thread” kinda way. Other than not, not so unique.

Yeah. Hilarious. The height of wit. Is that what comedy has come to? Weak obvious jokes that even I could come up with?

Man do I miss Blackadder and Fawlty Towers.

Oops, yeah, I had forgotten that. I’d thought of the “you won” line when I read johnpost’s quote because I thought Galecki kind of mumbled it, and I had replayed it with captioning on to decipher it. Sorry johnpost.

My impression of the thread was that most people are glad about the removal of Priya (I personally never minded her but oh well) and overall thought it was a good episode. I’m reading very little “I didn’t like it…” comments as if it was a bad episode.

I’m saying it was a bad episode…only mildly funny and not very well written from a seasonal arc (not individual episode) point of view.

Well, for what it’s worth, I completely agree with you. BBT has had much better episodes.

This is a persistent problem with the show. It has a really awful and annoying laugh track. People complain constantly about it. Lorre doesn’t get it. He claims it’s just the studio audience (even did a vanity card with pic), but it clearly isn’t. (Even Mrs. FtG pointed out in one episode how they used the exact same laugh burst 3 times in a row. If she notices something like that, it’s really, really bad.)

You are the producer. You have the option of mixing in as much or as little of the studio yuks as you like. Use less. In fact, don’t use it at all.

About this episode. I went to watch it on the DVR last night (Sat.) and it wasn’t there. Turns out I had watched it already. It was just that unrememberable.

The tongue stud line has been done on Two And A Half Men and other shows before. This was an OK episode.

I too don’t care much for Priya, hopefully she’ll be out of the picture soon. As for Sheldon, I don’t think he really got revenge. All he did was startle Leonard. He didn’t scare him, anyone can come up from behind your or hide, that’s not scaring someone or tricking someone, it’s just startling them.

As for the laugh track, even shows that use a studio audience, do what’s called sweetening the laughs. When a funny scene has to be reshot for a technical reason, the producers will use the first laugh. Obviously the same joke or situation isn’t as funny the second time around so it’s inserted and often sweetened too much

I loved Blackadder too, but you gotta admit that they had some really weak jokes mixed in with the brilliance.

That was the thing which stopped me getting into the show for years - I couldn’t get around the laugh track. It seemed to me to be louder and more frequent than in other shows; I got over it, though, after people persuaded me the show really was funny, and now I don’t really notice it.
