They’ll have to have Penny make it as an actress, surely? She and Leonard move to Hollywood?
What, 15 miles? They’re already in Pasadena.
Isn’t it a long long way to Pasadena? (Australian joke, John Paul Young hit song “Pasadena”)
I don’t know where Pasadena is… (obviously):o
There IS a Pasadena in Texas, but the one with CalTech and JPL is about a sixteen-mile drive to Tinseltown.
oh, I knew it is in California, but not exactly where. I thought it was a separate town. Is it a suburb of Los Angeles then if it’s only 16 miles to Hollywood? Isn’t Hollywood up in the hills?
Every time I see her, I tend to think of Frasier’s nemesis. And something more regular from when I (and she) was younger…
“ET has reached out to CBS, Warner Bros. and Parsons’ rep regarding the report that the show is ending because he wanted it to. Parsons’ rep had no comment.”
Directions from Pasadena to Hollywood:
Pasadena is a city in Los Angeles county. Los Angeles is also a city in Los Angeles county. Hollywood is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles. There’s no reason an actor, aspiring or otherwise, needs to live in Hollywood. In fact, Hollywood seems to mostly survive on the tourist trade these days, if my recent visit there was accurate.
I think Simon Helberg is going to surprise everybody by having the best post TBBT career of them all.
My money’s on Rauch.
Cybill ……the one where Cybill Shepard played a fictionalized comedy version of her self
Are you thinking of Nanny G? She was played by Emma Thompson on Cheers! and by Laurie Metcalf on Frasier.
TBBT geography is different from real world geography. (Their apartment building is both north-far and south-near Colorado Blvd.)
Early on, Sheldon mentions walking to the comic book store. In the first episode with Wil Wheaton there’s a zoom out at the end from the comic book store. It’s centered around Hollywood Blvd near the Chinese Theater. (Ground Zero for tourists.)
So Penny could walk to work in “Hollywood” from their apartment in Pasadena. (Why she would have an acting job in Hollywood is beyond me. More likely to get one on the same side of the hills as Pasadena.)
I blame Kripke and his wormhole experiments.
Christine Baranski was “Dr. Nora” in an episode of Frasier, where her tough love approach clashed with Frasier’s “I’m listening” style, until it turned out she had mother issues. Kind of a shame that someone with as long a list of credits as her, including an Emmy award for her work on* Cybill*, will be remembered for a dozen appearances as a female Sheldon.
Jeez, didn’t anybody watch “The Good Wife”?
She was also in Chicago and Mamma Mia. I think she does just fine.
She did a crapload of stage work before even doing TV. It’s just that appearing on a popular sitcom can get you more eyeballs than almost anything else.
Shoeless:
Beverly Hofstadter is not at all a “female Sheldon.” She and Sheldon are very friendly (in a way that eats at Leonard, who never experienced anything but disapproval from her), but her character/personality is nothing like his.
