Big Brother 10 - 8/7 (Spoilers)

I thought there was a thread for this season but it is not possible to search for it so here is one for tonight’s show.

Good riddance Jessie. The most self-absorbed/self-unaware person in the history of the show. And that’s going some. Competitions he can’t win are “bogus”, “God has other plans for me”. Whotta’ putz.

I noticed how quiet the audience was during the post-eviction interview. Even when Jessie said something typically obnoxious. The audience wranglers must threaten them within an inch of their lives if they react to anything. What’s the point in them being there anyway?

This season started slow but is getting more interesting, even if there are no real break-out personalities this time.

Hey, what about Dan’s sister? What a cutie! How come she’s not in the house?

I was disappointed that Julie didn’t do the America’s Player reveal to Jessie tonight. I’m not going to be able to watch it tomorrow morning. Stupid Julie, saving the good stuff for your other show…

And, oh, GAAAAAAAH! Majenta’s evil twin wins HoH! This has to be something like Disaster Situation #1…especially if she’s going to bond with April and Ollie over April’s alliance’s betrayal of her plans. And way to suck up to the HoH, Jerry…

Libra has a good point…her kids are in good hands and if anything happened to them, CBS would never keep it from her. That’s just asking for a lawsuit. So the best thing to do is take the vacation. There’s always a chance she’ll get HoH at some point and get the letter from home anyway. Just another reason I hate Michelle.

And there WAS a thread for this season, but the last three weeks or so have been so goddamn boring that nobody’s posted in it since about Week 2.

Everything I wanted to happen last night happened. Yes, I’m evil but I’m sick of this boring crap. I wanted to see what would happen if Jessie got evicted and Michelle got HOH, and was (am) hoping that Libra would be her target. Unfortunately, because of Jessie’s comment to Dan on his way out the door, I fear that Michelle will be really stupid and try to get rid of Dan instead. All I can say is that it’s about time something interesting happened in the house. I was so sick of the sheep mentality of these people. Since when does the HOH decide who everyone votes out? Ugh.
The only two people I still even remotely like are Dan and Renny. Well, Memphis is okay too, I guess. I kind of want him to win it. What he pulled off this week was pretty brilliant, really. He managed to stay in the house and will slide through under the radar this week as Michelle & Co. wage war against those who voted Jessie out.

I started a thread a few weeks back but…as has been said, the season hasn’t been that wonderful.

However, business is picking up. I think I can actually like this season a little better now that Jessie is gone. He’s way up there on the list of reality show people that I can’t stand. Possibly the most arrogant person on the planet. (But maybe that’s just the editing).

I’m convinced that Michelle is certifiably insane. Not a fan, especially after the unitard hissy fit. I’ve been ready for her to go for a while but looks like not anytime soon because of HOH.

Renny’s growing on me after that first week. Her shrillness was annoying.

Jerry’s headed toward my dislike list.

I like April and Ollie, but they’re not playing a very smart game. What’s their alliance look like now? Strange bedfellows when you’re paired with the group you were really trying to get out.

I don’t like Memphis because he won’t admit that he’s just a bartender. I love how the producers keep mixologist in quotes. I noticed he was sucking up to Michelle as they faded out last night. He’s a smart player. Just stuck in the middle now.

Really ready for Libra to go. She’s smart, but her temper’s killing her.

Keesha’s playing a fairly smart game, but just ran into real bad luck with this HOH.

I’m a big Dan fan. He played America’s Player pretty well and he’s been doing a great job of staying alive after his initial alliance collapsed.

Just a notice that CBS is apparently behind…60 Minutes is still on. Don’t know for how long.

Someone needs to hand Jerry a great big mug of STFU. He doesn’t wear the hypocrite mantle well. So it’s okay to break your word if you take all your Marine bling off, but Dan taking his cross off before he breaks his word is an empty gesture? And he’s going to Hell? Really? You look mighty funny in that pope’s miter, Jerry…are you even Catholic? Who are you to tell someone they’re going to Hell for lying in a game that almost requires you to lie? Especially when you’re guilty of the same thing!

I want to dislike Libra so much, but the people aligned against her irk me so very much that I’m actually sympathetic to her. These people are just VIIIILE…she should have her kids taken away? Really, Michelle? Honestly? You’re serious? Because she chose a Hawaiian vacation that everyone can count as a probably once-in-a-lifetime event instead of a letter from home when her kids can’t even write yet and she’ll get one when she wins HOH eventually anyway (or not…it looks like it’s curtains for her this week). Either way, Michelle has NO right to say the stuff she’s saying. It’s vile and hateful and really doesn’t reflect well on Michelle or her upbringing. Frankly, her temper, her demeanor in the HoH victory and her constant sniping behind people’s back don’t reflect well on her or her upbringing, either. She and the arrogant musclehead tool (thank god he’s out!) deserved each other.

I only casually keep up with live feed updates so I didn’t even know about the post-HoH fight that broke out. Memphis’s stock has gone up with his admonition about his ostensible alliance-mates’ religion thing against Dan. And I have really come from rolling my eyes at his “mixologist” thing to admiring him mentally AND physically…the boy’s got a rockin’ bod…

They really are a repulsive bunch, aren’t they? Memphis and Dan are doing the right thing by stepping back and staying calm. Everyone else will self-destruct around them and they’ll be left standing in the final two together (I hope, anyway). I still like Renny, too. I’m hoping that she and Keesha pair up with Dan and Memphis once Libra is out.

Yep, I liked Jerry at the beginning of the season, but after the HoH and last night’s show, I’m done with him. I’m not religious, and if angry and cornered, I might lash out with some of that hateful crap that Jerry said. But in the spot Jerry’s in now, he can afford to be gracious. Don’t say a word about his religion and just bust his balls about being on the losing side of an important HoH. Also, yeah, that was hugely hypocritical given the “not wearing military garb” thing he did early on. Jackass. I’m stunned at much of what Jerry and Michelle said, and I’m often considered a world-class over-reactor and hot-head.

Speaking of Michelle, she’s just awful. She things she’s queen of the world right now and is forgetting that at the end of the week, she’s just another player. It would be an easy game if you were permanent HoH sweetheart, but ya ain’t. Jayjay, you really nailed it when you said it doesn’t reflect well on her upbringing (which she seems to care so much about). Provoking Renny for no reason was really uncalled for too.

Gotta agree with Memphis that April is really sickly-sweet fake now and it’s pretty disgusting. Bootlicking is never pretty.

Dan is pretty terrific in my book (thus far). I love those looks he gives the camera after he does some game play.

Memphis, your stock is rising.

EWWWWW! The last thing I need in my life, EVER, is Jerry giving me a cow-sex metaphor. E-V-E-R!

Besides, if Jerry were actually a bull, he’d have been dogfood years ago…

Yeah, after a sympathetic start (old family guy surrounded by shallow whippersnappers) Jerry has become one of my least-faves, particularly with this weird religious thing going on. At least his weird fixation on the HOH as Commander in Chief saved Dan.

I think Michelle is the worst of the worst right now, though. That power raced to her head so fast and furious I’m surprised that wiry hair isn’t standing straight out. That high horse is going to turn right back into a mouse Thursday night, girlie.

Damn game is making me grit my teeth and sorta root for Dan and Libra, who I started off hating. Memphis/Robert is also behaving pretty decently, but since he calls himself a “mixologist” and also “Memphis”, he’s still dead to me.

Why am I finding watching these morons so interesting? Oh yeah, summer.

Yeah, this is really getting uncomfortable to watch.

I really didn’t like it when Michelle chased Keesha through the house and then was literally right in her face while she’s trying to lie on her own bed. Massive invasion of personal space there.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but when Jerry was talking to Michelle in the HoH room, didn’t he say that if Dan was America’s player he was a scumbag? If that’s what he said, why would he be a scumbag for doing what America wanted (he was obligated to anyhow). Wouldn’t voting Jessie out have been a bigger scumbag move if he did it on his own?

Since Jerry didn’t use the veto, I’m guessing Libra’s done for. Which means that almost assuredly Keesha will be gone because I can’t ever read the tea leaves correctly.

Oddly enough I don’t really loathe anyone this year.

I thought **Michelle **overreacted to losing the vacation to Libra, and I thought she was pretty lame for failing to see through April’s ass kissing, but I don’t think she was totally power mad this week.

**Keesha **seems like a nice enough person but she’s not a great player. She’s easily swayed and she cries a lot.

Jerry’s tirades have gotten old fast. I didn’t understand why he called Memphis a womanizer apropos nothing, but maybe something was said that didn’t air. His hatred of Dan is also totally misplaced, but I think he’s starting to realize Dan’s not so bad. He does need to get off the religious kick though. Holier than thou looks good on no one.

I really like Dan’s game, he’s really bobbing and weaving out there trying to keep the target off his back and without resorting to really conniving tactics. Plus he just seems like a laid back dude.

**Memphis **is also fairly laid back and good at staying away from drama (usually), but I think his game is less intentional than Dan’s. He’s just being himself and I tend to root for people who I think are actively playing the game (like Will and Boogie did).

**Ollie **seems like a nice but not terribly bright guy and that’s all.

**Renny **is a strange sort of person. I can’t really get a good bead on her. Mostly she seems like a nice gal, but I think she’s lacking in the social skills department. She’s like the person at the office party who has a bit too much to drink and sings loudly in your face while pinching your cheeks. Plus she tends to scowl in her diary room interviews.

**April **and Libra are my two least favorite of the surviving players. They spend far too much time gossiping, kissing ass, deflecting blame, and generally causing drama. But even with all that they don’t seem like bad people, just sort of annoying.

Usually by this late in the season I’ve found at least three people I want to stab in the neck with a fork. CBS’s casting dept must be slipping.

Maybe your calibration’s off. Because there are at least two that I want to see stabbed in the butt with the pitchfork that’s hanging in the bathroom: April and Jerry. April’s a smug little rich bitch princess and Jerry’s just an asshole. The funny thing is that I started this season expecting to like Jerry (I always have a soft spot for the older players…call it an underdog thing) and hate Dan (because he was billed as a conservative hard-ass in preseason advertising) but my feelings have completely flipped at this point. I really despise Jerry and I really like Dan.

The exact same thing happened to me, jayjay. I wanted to like Jerry so much, but he did a really good job of making me hate him. I totally expected to hate Dan and I feel bad now for stereotyping him. I think what really made me start to like Dan was how he was with Steven. I expected him to have issues with Steven being gay but he was so open and understanding. Then, when Steven got nommed and was really struggling, Dan was there for him and loaned Steven his Bible (upon request from Steven, IIRC), even suggesting some passages he might find comforting. I thought it was really sweet.

As for who deserves some stabbbage with a rusty spoon: definitely Jerry and April, though I can’t stand Libra or Michelle either. My dream team for the final four would be Dan, Memphis, Keesha (can’t wait to see her without Libra) and Renny.

Sounds like my ideal Final Four, also. I don’t hate Michelle, but I have to admit that she’s playing a really stupid game. She’s playing with her heart on her sleeve, painted with puffy glitter paint, circled with day-glo marker, with a battery-operated LED ring around it. Stupid, stupid, stupid. And her lack of boundaries makes me uncomfortable, too. I know it’s probably some sort of Portuguese thing, but her crawling into Keesha’s face last night was really creepy.

Libra, I’m ambivalent about. I have to admit that 90% of her problems are her fault, because she has no give to her trigger at all. There’s no lead-up to the in-your-face finger-wagging head-bobbing explosion, it. just. HAPPENS! But on the other hand, the whole she-picked-a-vacation-over-a-letter-from-her-two-non-verbal-non-writing-babies was a stupid issue to harrass her about, and I can definitely see the joking nature of the “she just wants you for your designer clothes” thing they showed last night…it sounds like something I’d say when I’m in a big group conversation with friends as a joke.

I thought Libra was just joking about the clothes, too. As usual though, it got blown totally out of proportion. I think that’s just a side-effect of being in the house for so long. Nobody can even make a joke anymore without someone else flying off the handle about it. I think when they look back at how they acted in the house there are going to be several people who are embarrassed, particularly Jerry and his overreaction to the Dan thing. Michelle, too. Is he really a teacher? Come on!

Just a note that for some of you (especially me!): NFL pre-season football might pre-empt Big Brother for you on CBS. It’s being broadcast here at something like 2 in the morning, so I might not get a chance to catch it on the DVR until Sunday.

You scared me for a second there, CapnPitt. I was afraid the Vikings were playing tonight and trying to figure out how I was going to watch Big Brother, the Vikes, and the Olympics all at the same time (can only DVR one show and watch one show) while also trying to do laundry and pack for vacation. I see the Vikings don’t play until Saturday, though, so that’s a relief. My life is very stressful, obviously.
