Big Brother 12 - Season Thread

On the contrary, Brendan took it like a man all the way. As much as I don’t personally like him, mad props for his reaction both in the moment and then afterward. Sure he bitches to Enzo in private and is as hypocritical as any other houseguest while doing it, but in fairness I have to say he was the polar opposite of Chima. He was way pissed about being called a “big dummy,” but saves his venting about that for Enzo when they’re alone in the Have Not room.

At this point, my main problem with Brendan is that he has all the social skills of a homeschooled shut-in. I just cannot stand people with no social skills; I have an overwhelming urge to punch them in the face. But that’s just me. I can’t really give any Brendan fans shit for rooting for the guy. Hell, if he could integrate himself into a conversation in a natural, organic way instead of shoehorning in his awkwardness at every opportunity, I’d probably be becoming a convert. I just can’t stomach the nonstop awkward silences in every conversation he pollutes.

Last night’s BBAD was funny as shit, btw. The fallout from the veto competition was awesome, at least for us viewers. There was, of course, much wailing and gnashing of teeth from the drama pair of Ragan and Britney. Not that they were or weren’t happy with who won, but rather the lingering consequences post-competition. My personal favorite: (Not a challenge/nomination/game spoiler, but it will be part of broadcast on Wednesday so technically a spoiler.)Britney and Brendan get shackled together by a chain for 24 hours. Bwahahahaha!! Even better is that Brendan also has to take 24 chum baths, one an hour for 24 hours, and of course it’s the same 24 hours when he’s chained to Britney. They got chained together right after BBAD started, and it’s been awesome. They’re both being really good sports about it, but it’s still funny as shit.I’m bummed but making my peace with the way the game is playing out: (Major game spoilers, including nominations, veto winner, etc…)
Brendan vs Enzo on the block, Brendan won PoV.

What makes me sad is that Lane finally stepped up to the plate and fulfilled his duty as a Brigade member. He has convinced Britney to put Matt up as replacement, with Matt going home. No way can Matt ever swing the votes, so he’s going home. The PoV ceremony hasn’t happened yet, but I put the likelihood here at 99%.

I was so hoping for a Britney/Lane and Matt/Ragan final four, but Lane still has first loyalty to Hayden and Enzo. Booooooooooooo! At this point, Britney is absolutely going home Thursday unless she wins PoV. Everyone in the house is gunning for both Britney and Ragan, both will absolutely be nominated, and Britney will absolutely lose to Ragan since she’s much better in competitions. Even Ragan would probably nominate her if he won HoH since Britney is about to send his cuddle buddy home. Major bummer all around for Britney fans.

The worst part is that Britney has pretty much realized this. She was near inconsolable, with Lane having to spend forever talking her down. But of course he took that opportunity to manipulate her into putting Matt up as a replacement.

It will be an Enzo/Hayden/Lane/Ragan (or Brendan if he keeps winning challenges) final four. Book it.
MIssed the edit window. Here’s some backstory for the second (game) spoiler above:
As of a couple days ago, Lane and Hayden convinced Britney she has a final 3 deal with them. Because her only replacement choices are Matt and Hayden, of course Matt goes up. I personally am hoping she puts up Ragan instead of Matt, but that’ll never happen. Hayden would be ideal, of course, but I think she would see that as going against Lane, which she’ll never, ever do.

All is not completely lost for Britney, as Hayden and Enzo wouldn’t actually mind bringing Britney and Enzo to final four. Enzo has the biggest hardon for Britney, though, and of course so does Brendan, and neither Lane nor Hayden would go against Enzo to save her, so it’s looking grim. But if Ragan could somehow send Enzo home, Britney has a chance. Not likely.

Hayden and Lane have had a final 2 deal for over a month, recogniznig neither has a chance against Enzo or Matt. In a private conversation from Friday night, they were discussing the order of eviction to the end and seemed to keep Britney in there until final four with Enzo. They both can easily beat Enzo in the final HoH competitions so they’d ditch Britney first, but Brendan and Ragan seemed to be their first priorities, not Britney. Hayden was probably just humoring Lane, but hey, I can hope.
Question for Ellis, re your spoiler above:

What’s a chum bath? Like chum that you put in the water to attract sharks? Or something else?

tsm:Yes, but it wasn’t actual chum. It was closer to that green slime from Nickelodean.

Interesting night for Britney: (Game spoilers through PoV results, no replacement nom yet.)
She and Brendan legitimately bonded over the fact that they literally are the only two players fighting to stay in the game. They don’t know how right they are; anyone remember Matt’s winking thumbs-up to the camera when he deliberately tanked Thursday’s HoH? How ironic if this is the week he goes home. As much as I like him, I kinda want to see that.

Hayden went for all the prizes instead of fighting for veto. Lane did the same thing as Hayden, just less so. Enzo and Brendan both got slammed by brutal punishments, Enzo getting the worst because he didn’t even win veto for his trouble. Matt is PISSED that he tried like a motherfucker to win veto, eagerly choosing every punishment, and yet his buzzer never worked. Nice blatant manipulation, BB!

Britney tried for all the punishments and got none. It seems she didn’t “win” the handcuff, Brendan got to choose who he was shackled to and chose Britney.

At this point, the Brigade is done with Matt and want him out right now, then want Brendan and then Ragan out. They actually want Britney to take Matt’s place, just she won’t know she’s in the Brigade. Even Enzo wants this. Britney has also bonded with Brendan based on mutual respect as competitors.

Britney could actually be mostly safe this week if you she sends Matty home as replacement nom. Doing that, her only danger would be Ragan coming after her to avenge Matt. It now looks like Enzo/Hayden/Lane/Britney vs Ragan vs Brendan. Lane finally got his wish to bring Britney fully into the fold. She no longer has any enemies, and she has the votes to stay.
Call me crazy, here’s the eviction order I’m now rooting for: Matt, Ragan, Enzo, Hayden, Lane, Britney over Brendan in the final 2.

Most of the house thinks they’d crush Britney in final 2, including Britney. That makes her an attractive person to take to the finals with you. I don’t think that’s necessarily the case, despite the fact a woman has never beaten a man in the finals. Who is more accomplished than the veto queen who has never once in the game gotten a true alliance offer from anybody? Best she’s ever gotten is a one-week deal. Even Lane has never committed to her. (She point blank and repeatedly asked Lane if it were between her and Hayden, who would Lane take off the block? Lane would not answer the question.)

Uh, I didn’t click on your spoiler because I only watch the broadcasts, but did you just give away the results of the POV by saying a replacement nom wasn’t yet picked, meaning one of the two nominated won?

Not quite, but yeah, my bad. Enzo and Brendan obviously want to save themselves, while Hayden and Lane want to win the veto and pull off Enzo. So I did spoil that one of those four guys won PoV. Sorry.

I still dislike Brendon the most, based solely on the broadcasts. I don’t remember liking this many of the cast this far into the season before. I actually wouldn’t be upset if any one of remaining house guests won. (I know I don’t get to see the Enzo stuff that goes on off-camera, so I still like my fellow Jerseyan…)

Ellis Dee, why aren’t you rooting for Hayden? Is he getting a good edit? He seems very likable, and seems to be playing a VERY smart game so far.

Funny you should ask. I like Hayden quite a bit. I just assume he’s going to the end, no question, so there is no point in rooting for him. As for his edit, believe it or not he’s getting a terrible edit on broadcast. On the feeds / BBAD he’s the nicest guy in the house, bar none, and as laid back and cool (socially comfortable) as Lane. Hayden is the guy that everyone likes and wants to be liked by. It is not at all surprising that he played QB in college, the most charismatic position in all of sports.

He’s a little dopey and naive, and occasionally thoughtlessly selfish, but he is merciless on himself with the guilt when he realizes it. Hamstertime has a pretty good read on the guy. Here’s a snippet of a post from last night. This is in response to his terrible broadcast edit:

Here’s the meat of a synopsis from a few weeks ago that IMO is dead-on accurate:

Remember that during the blowup between Rachel and Kristen in the boxing ring, Hayden was right there slinging barbs directly at Rachel. eg: “Try to get through a whole sentence without saying ‘like’.” hehheh.

I like Britney, Lane, (especially together,) Hayden, and Matt. I am neutral toward Ragan but he gets more tiresome as the game goes on. I dislike Brendon and hate Enzo.

One quick point on Brendon: I can already see people in various places starting to argue that Brendon is the underdog you shoud root for because he’s been singlehandedly fighting the whole house. He has not; Britney is the only one who has had the entire house against her. Last week when Matt used the DPoV, every single person in the house wanted her up and out but luckily (for me) the DR convinced Brendon to backdoor Matt instead of her.

Brendon, OTOH, has had Enzo and Hayden – and by extension the Brigade – carrying him from week to week so that he could do their dirty work for them. The idea was for him to pick off the side alliances (Britney and Ragan) so the Brigade could keep those jury votes. Brendon has played well, but “the house” was only paying lip service to being against him. They were actually against Britney. The revisionist history on Brendon is starting to bug me.

But again, he won major points with me by how he behaved in that non-game spoiler from post 201, so my hate is not what it once was.

So last week production directly saved Britney to force Matt to use the DPoV. Brendon made his decision to backdoor Britney and told her she was going up. Production then called Brendon to DR, and in Brendon’s own words he was told he had to “undo it.” (Note that by rule you are not allowed to tell someone you’re putting them on the block.) That’s why Matt went up instead, and this is what Britney was referring to on last night’s show when she said Brendon was coming after her last week. So Brendon’s claim that he honored his deal with Britney is a crock of shit, but whatever.

This week production is getting involved again, and this time it might hurt Britney: (Veto spoilers.)
They are doing everything they can to get her to backdoor Hayden instead of Matt. They’re even making her question Lane, which is probably smart but annoying.

The problem is that if Britney sends Matt home, she is guaranteed safe through Thursday’s double eviction and very likely to make it to final four with the Brigade. At which point it’s every wo/man for hirself. Since she’s won four times as many competitions as Hayden, Lane and Enzo combined, her chance to make the finals if she backdoors Matt this week are impressively high.

If she doesn’t backdoor Matt, she still may survive this Thursday but would be on much weaker footing at final five. So production’s advice to keep Matt would hurt her. Not a ton, I suppose, and they saved her last week, so I guess no harm no foul.
The more I think about Britney’s game, the more impressed I am. Never in any alliance, has had the entire house against her, has gotten in huge dramatic dustups, and yet here she remains. And her outlook going forward isn’t terrible, either.

This is just my first season of watching BB. Who was the tool that jumped out of the box and did the workout with Britney?

Jessie ptui

And you have him pegged perfectly. A tool. Not even a useful tool, at that. Also, a douche.

He doesn’t even have the redemption of being attractive in any way to go on. His body is muscular, yes, but it’s oddly proportioned (his head is TINY) and just kind of lumpy. The less said about his face the better. And his personality sucks like a vacuum-assist toilet.

Yes, I could see he was a tool with just about 30 seconds of viewing. How long did he last in his season? I think I could watch a whole season with Rachel more than another 5 minutes with that guy.

He was actually on two seasons. His first season he lasted about 1/3 of the way through, and his second he lasted about 1/2 way through, mostly due to stupid women who hero-worshipped him because he’d been on a previous season. (Seriously…when he was voted out, the four of them had some kind of mourning ceremony where they drank wine and cried their eyes out while remembering things he did in the house. It was hilarious!)

They really painted Britney as in trouble on tonight’s show, but I don’t see it that way. Predictions for tomorrow’s double eviction:
Matt is going home, and Britney can’t play in the next HoH. You need two votes to be safe.

Enzo, Lane, or Hayden put up Ragan and Brendon, with Britney as a replacement pawn. Target of those voting for eviction is Ragan, then Brendon if Ragan wins PoV. (Britney safe with Enzo, Lane and Hayden.)

Ragan puts up Brendon and Enzo, with Hayden as a replacement nom. Voter target is Brendan then Enzo. (Hayden safe with Lane & Britney.)

Brendon puts up Ragan and Britney, with Lane as replacement nom. Voter target is Ragan, then Britney. (Lane is safe with Enzo and Hayden.)

What that boils down to is:

In virtually all scenarios Ragan goes home unless he wins HoH or PoV. If that happens, Brendon goes home unless he wins HoH or PoV. If they both win something:

 1. If Brendon wins HoH and Ragan wins PoV, Britney goes home.
 2. If Ragan wins HoH and Brendon wins PoV, Enzo goes home.

Lane and Hayden aren’t going anywhere. They might just throw the comps yet again.
Current alliances:
Final 4 deals:
Hayden/Enzo/Lane/Britney
Hayden/Enzo/Lane/Brendon

Final 3 deals:
Hayden/Enzo/Lane
Hayden/Lane/Britney
Hayden/Enzo/Brendon

Final 2 deals:
Hayden/Lane
Hayden/Enzo

Notice how Hayden is part of every single alliance in the house. Also notice the overlapping nature of them. The net result is that that the Hayden/Enzo/Lane/Britney alliance is effectively genuine, with Britney as the emergency parachute if Brendon keeps winning. Britney has higher status than Brendon because 1) Lane has higher status than Enzo and 2) Brendon is more disliked than Britney. Also Brendon appears as more of a threat to big athletic guys than Britney ever could.
I’m now rooting for, in order:

Lane
Hayden
Britney
Ragan
Enzo
Brendon
Matt

I loved the penguin suit. I only wish they had also made Enzo wear the headpiece at all times, just to get the full effect.

If that’s top-to-bottom order, I would modify it only by moving Britney ahead of Hayden and Matt above Brendon.

Lane was my pick (against my wife’s Kristen) to win it all, but I had Britney on my love list after the first episode, too. She’s one of the BB’s best players for me.

Brendon and Rachel are in my Bottom 10!

Do you suppose the producers have the cojones for a Worst of the Worst season? If so, who would make that list of what, 20?
It depends. Are you talking about worst players or worst personalities?
If it’s worst players, I think Ronnie from last year would definitely be a contender - a guy who was a huge fan of the show, and believed himself to be a lot smarter than what he really was, but flamed out pretty quickly.
If you’re talking about worst personalities, then you definitely have to include Evil Dick as well as Jesse, Chima and Natalie from last year.

I’ll tell you one thing: if it’s worst personalities, it’s going to be the only season of BB besides the 1st that I’ve ever deliberately skipped.

Britney loses points with me for playing the “I’m all alone” card when she clearly has had close ties with Lane, Matt and Ragan. She has definitely grown on me over the season though and I like her.

I have Brendon over Matt strictly on effort. He plays his ass off, while Matt clearly thinks he’s smarter than he really is.
