Big Brother 13 Season Discussion Thread

Well, come on, he was 99% sure he was coming back into the house with SUPER POWERS. Amazing what these people can read into what little Julie will tell them.

She suspected Lawon was lying, which is why she confirmed it with Kalia.

To be frank, I’m rather underwhelmed when it comes to reality star strategy and their ability to read people. So when Shelly did, I was impressed.

Dag I really should. Miss you guys.

Yeah, he was an idiot. But the rest of the players are idiots too for missing out on a perfectly good chance to kick out Rachel.

And haven’t these people ever watched the show before? If they have, they should know that putting yourself up as a pawn almost always backfires.

I stopped watching BB except for the Thursday episode, but pre-season football got my attention last night. I take it from the thread Brandon came back. Who went home, Lawton?
Thanks.

Yes, Brendon’s back, Lawon’s gone. America eats stupid food for breakfast.

Here is vote turnout. Keith got 1%.

And the new HOH

Dani, nominates Shelley and Adam

It should be a very interesting episode Sunday night.

Looks like we’re looking at at least a half-hour delay due to (of all things) golf. I don’t know whether it’s the Masters, the US Open, the Ruritanian Open, the Grand Fenwick Closed or what. All I know is a bunch of guys are whispering and 60 Minutes hasn’t started yet, at 7:29. (And really…WTF? Who watches GOLF? I can almost understand preemption for football, but GOLF?!)

Consider the possibility that CBS is going with the “If bringing Brendon back isn’t enough to piss you off, have a large steaming cup of this…” commentary to its audience. Basically a “stick it in and break it off” taunt.

Update: It’s going to be at least an hour. Golf is still on at 7:52.

Even having read the spoilers earlier in the week, I’m still all

I’m trying to figure out whether or not Shelly really is delusional or if she’s just putting on an act. She’s ON CAMERA trying to pursue F3 deals with Jeff & Jordan, Rachel & Brendon and (I think I recall) Kalia & Danielle. But she persists in denying even in the DR! I can see denying in front of the other contestants, but in the DR? She really honestly believes that she didn’t do any such thing!

Loved when Kalia cried in the DR. DING DING DING! Yes, it was a dumb move you dumb ass. At least Dani knows when she’s taking a big risk and potentially making a mistake. I also like that Rachel thinks America sent Brendon back in because they* like* them… Yeah, that was why.

And yet every single one of them voted to kick Lawon out.

Because they all had it in their idiot heads that “a chance” to come back into the game meant “absolute certainty” that the person who would be kicked out would come back into the game. Morons. The whole lot of them.

Really. I don’t understand that either. A 5 minute highlight reel would be more than enough for anyone to see all the excitement the typical golf game provides.

Exactly. Unless St. Andrew is scheduled to make a personal appearance on his namesake historic course and play a few rounds, I can’t see the need to televise golf in the first place, let alone allow it to preempt not only a popular tv show, but also the network’s premiere newsmagazine.

Well, the PGA Championship is a major, and CBS shells out a small fortune to broadcast it. In this instance, I get why they pre-empted.

Sorry, was away from the dope for a few days but wanted to explain what I meant about Shelly getting a bad edit, so this is from last week. Kalia wins HoH, and of course puts up Rachel and Jeff. Smart move. Jeff takes himself off, and Kalia wants to honor her deal to never nominate or vote out Jordan, so her natural choices are Shelly and Adam. As we all know now, both were in an alliance with Shelly, so Shelly sprung into action to save the day.

Bear in mind that Kalia’s strategy (Rachel/Jeff up, Shelly/Adam replacement nom) was an airtight, can’t fail no-brainer. During a conversation between just Shelly and Kalia by the hammock, Shelly starts off by saying how she thinks it’s bullshit that everyone is saying how Kalia is Dani’s puppet. This is a bullseye, fanning Kalia’s insecure ego to the boiling point. Shelly then starts fretting that when Rachel gets voted out and comes right back from the special power, she’s gonna be pissed and come straight after Kalia. How unfair is it that she’ll blame Kalia when in reality the whole house wants her out? Another bullseye, targeting Kalia’s paranoia.

So Shelly suggests hey, maybe you could strike a deal with Rachel that your real target was Jeff, you don’t want Rachel gone, and to prove it you’ll put up a pawn Rachel thinks she can beat. It won’t matter anyway, since the whole house wants her gone and she’ll lose no matter who Kalia puts up next to her. Now when Rachel gets voted out and comes right back, you (Kalia) can claim you tried your best but HoH doesn’t get a vote; blame the house, not you. If the pawn goes out, no worries, they’re coming right back thanks to the power.

This was entirely Shelly’s plan, but Kalia never admitted that to anyone, not even Dani. Especially with Dani, whenever Dani started to question the plan, Kalia almost took it as a personal attack, like Dani thought Kalia was too stupid to have a good idea on her own. The more Dani questioned it, the more Kalia dug her heels in. Eventually Dani recognized that Kalia was going to do it no matter what, so she reluctantly got on board.

The hammock conversation between Kalia and Shelly happened on BBAD, and when I watched it I was in awe of Shelly’s gameplay. She reallly wanted Porsche up (and out) as replacement, since as I said before Porsche was the only one who saw through Shelly. But Lawon was a solid second choice, since he was always a guaranteed vote for Dani’s side of the house.

That Shelly managed to convince Kalia to evict one of her own instead of Rachel (of all people!) is remarkably impressive. Even better was that this act demonstrated to Kalia that Shelly was on their side! Simply masterful. But of course, absolutely none of that was shown on broadcast.

Shelly has since gone through a pretty intense emotional rollercoaster, and based on her DR sessions she’s just about lost her damn mind. But I’m still holding out hope she wins it all.
