Big Brother 13 Season Discussion Thread

ED, essentially you got your wish, since Brendan came back into the game. those 4 are the only ones permanently evicted from BB13.

If I were on jury, my votes for winner would be Shelly first, Dani second. I don’t like Dani; she really bugs me with the stuff she does and I’m eagerly rooting for her to be evicted. But damn if she doesn’t deserve to win for the game she’s playing.

Quick example of a Dani tactic I don’t like: Talking to Kalia, she’s trying to widen the wedge between Kalia and J&J. To that end she badmouths Jeff with “Can you believe he cooked fish for himself and not the other havenots? How rude!” First, Dani has never cooked anything for anybody. Second, on the night in question Jeff did cook fish for all the havenots, as he did every single night.

Those kind of character assassination blatant lies bug the crap out of me, especially when combined with hypocrisy. I get why she did it, and respect the gameplay, but those tactics are pretty sleazy, IMO.

Heh, yeah, I had that exact thought when Lawon lost.

Which reminds me, it cracks me the hell up that Dani & Kalia were in power for two straight weeks and managed to evict exactly one person, and that one person was their most loyal ally. Too perfect.

Oh by the way, America pretty clearly voted for Jeff and Jordan by voting their only evicted ally back into the house. I think voting Cassie back would have been a much bigger helping hand to J&J, but America doesn’t watch the feeds so they couldn’t know how close Cassie and Jordan got during Jordan’s HoH, or how easily Cassie would have fit into a Jeff/Jordan/Shelly/Cassie fearsome foursome. (Cassie was particularly hated by both Rachel and Dani.)

Brendan and Rachel can’t be trusted – though in fairness neither can Jeff & Jordan – but I have to admit that Brendan back makes for good tv. That HoH comp was pretty damn funny for the David vs Goliath aspect.

Is it so wrong that I laughed when they showed Brendon and Rachel sitting forlornly on the sidelines during the veto competition?

“Jeff is really good at cornholing.”

Is that thing on Adam’s chin right below his lip a piercing, a pimple or a cyst? Sometimes it looks shiny like a stud and sometimes it appears like a whitehead about to burst.

I’m not sure at this point if Shelley is brilliant or getting lost in her own web of game play. She seems to believe what she says even though the video evidence contradicts her. Poor Jordan in the Humilitard…

Wrong? Hell, that’s half the reason to watch these shows. Loved Dani’s comment about it too when she won the veto ticket.

Oh Jordan. You do such a nice thing for Shelley, and the BB gods give you the humilitard. However, I don’t think there’s anyone in the history of the show (in the years I’ve been watching at least) that could not only rock the humiltard, but do it with good grace too.

The thing in Adam’s lower lip is definitely a stud. I didn’t notice it until he shaved, but my wife said she noticed it all along.

For my money Jordan has the prize for most lovable BB player ever. I might put Janelle in second place, but it would be back a bit. Who could make #3?

Jordan’s a keeper, and I think Jeff understands that aspect of her.

HoH spoiler:

Jeff. Damn.

Short comment that gives away HoH winner:I was kinda hoping Jeff & Jordan would get evicted together during double eviction, but that’s no longer possible. Oh well, time for Dani to go, though Kalia going would be better for BBAD by a wide margin.

Why the sudden hate for:

Jeff and Jordan?

Because you think the game would be better or did I miss something?

A lot of it is feeds stuff. Seriously, the feeds make this an entirely different show. You wouldn’t BELIEVE the editing and tweaking and covering-up and crap that Grodner does to get the broadcast version…

Well, give us some Dope!

There’s not much specific dope…in general, Jeff’s a major-league douchebag who thinks he’s better than pretty much everyone else in the house and Jordan is a grumpy-guss hanger-on this season. Jeff’s goodbye message? Yeah, it was kind of entertaining because Rachel really is a soggy, crying handful most of the time, but it was kind of a kick-the-corpse thing to say in the goodbye message to an ostensible ally. But that’s how Jeff is ALL THE TIME…and only a fraction of a fraction of the entire Jeff-douche experience gets shown on the air.

Jordan has a good heart, but she’s finding it harder to keep the cheerful but clueless wall up this season. She’s certainly spent a goodly portion of her time in the house under a cloud of her own gloomy making, and her reactions to the humilitard aren’t anywhere near as accepting as the show makes it out to be.

Basically, while Brenchel were the most disgusting with their sense of privilege, J&J come in a close second, and don’t get 3/4 of the bad edits Brenchel did.

On TWOP, Jeff’s nickname is Big(ot) Jeff, due to the whole Dumbledore debacle earlier this season. For some reason they were talking about Harry Potter, and Kalia mentioned that JK Rowling said that Dumbledore was gay. Jeff went into a conversational mini-rant that that was stupid…“you don’t want that around kids!” Kalia LIT into him for that, and that’s one of the major reasons for Jeff’s seemingly out-of-the-blue hate for her.

There’s a whole WORLD of stuff going on behind the scenes. The story Grodner wants you to see is NOT the story that’s actually happening. This is hardly the first season for that, btw.

Hmm, that’s interesting. What’s some of the other stuff that’s gone on in other seasons that they tried hiding? In particular, I’d love to know what type of edit they did on Dick and Danielle in their original season.

Yeah, I keep saying I’m going to get the feeds every season just for that reason. But knowing me I’d be watching 24/7…

Trust me, it’s far less exciting than it sounds. Ever notice how sometimes the show can be boring? That’s usually the best footage out of 48 hours of filming throughout the entire house. Chances are that you’ll probably miss the important conversations because you were watching Jordan work out anyway.

Well, Dick was way more abusive toward Jenn and other houseguests than they ever showed. It was really disgusting, and one of the reasons I hated that he won that season. Dani’s main sin was going along with Dick no matter how bad he acted. Her edit was close to reality…a whiney spoiled brat. Dick, though, was just evil incarnate in that house…there were a lot of people on the live-feed discussion site I used to go to who thought Dick should have been charged with assault at least once in that season.

Alison Grodner is a lot worse than Arnold Shapiro ever was as far as sweetheart edits for her favorites and trying to manipulate the game from the DR. Houseguests have talked about the pressure they get from the DR to put someone up or to not put someone up…Kevin, back in J&J’s first season, talks about the DR trying desperately to keep him from putting Jeff on the block. Jeff and Jordan are near and dear to Alison Grodner’s heart…just remember that when you watch them this season on the show.

You don’t really need to get the feeds to know what’s going on. Several sites have people who keep a running update on what’s happening on the live feeds:

Television Without Pity (TWOP) has a Live Feed Discussion topic in their Big Brother forum (which they don’t divide into seasons, so it’s really unwieldy, so your best bet is to just open up the last page, then go back 5 or 10 pages and start from there…it won’t be the beginning of this season (or anywhere close), but it should cover the last four or five days and you can go forward from there).

Hamster Time does divide not only into seasons, but into weeks.

Morty’s TV has daily live-feed threads.

Wow, that’s really saying something, seeing as how even with the edits he still came off looking like a major asshole.
