Big Brother 13 Season Discussion Thread

Okay, check me on this, because I’m not sure I heard correctly. In Jeff’s “Save me” speech, was he actually trying to blackmail Shelly with what Josey would think about her voting him out? Really?

The way things are breaking I’m worried that the “take Rachel to the Final Three” strategy might get her the money! Those that think the jury would vote against her now have Jeff and Brendon to consider and maybe even Dani. That all depends on the actual three to be voted on.

I suspect Jordan is a goner for the Final Three.

Shelly is looking pretty good for the money.

Yeah, Shelly has played the best game of the remaining houseguests, and probably played the best game of anyone all season. Switching when she did was absolutely a good play for her, almost as good as manipulating Kalia to get rid of Lawon.

Jeff positioned himself exactly where he needed to be but choked. I was stunned how much he tanked that veto challenge, the same one that Hayden crushed last year (it was HoH during double eviction) by finding both items first then running the two laps to victory. Jeff was so slow on the first shoe I thought that’s what he was doing, but nope, he was actually last to find the first shoe. Oh well, that’s the competition he’s expected to win so needing it to stay in the game was a pretty strong game position. He just choked it away.

I’d like to see Jordan out next so they have a couple weeks of vacation together. At this point I’m (still) rooting for Shelly to win it all, and would be fine with anyone sitting next to her. Hate Kalia but she’s earned a seat, Porsche has been killing it in competitions lately so I’m good with her, Rachel has been fighting for her spot all game long, Adam is the last man standing and it always cracks me up to see a lone guy make it through a gaggle of women, and Jordan is sweet enough to give you cavities.

People on Hamstertime are saying they saw one of Jeff’s clown shoes fly out of his lane onto the ground during his frenzy, which he never saw. Doh! hehheh.

Just re-watched the “clowning around” veto competition and one of Jeff’s yellow shoes definitely flew out.

I’m interested to see what Adam’s play is this week. If he makes it to the final 2, do you think B&R and J&J would vote against him since he’s not done a damn thing except won the thrown veto contest? I like the guy and I wanted to root for him from the beginning, but he’s been fairly useless. Also, for those watching the feeds, are we getting a fair representation of how star-struck he is by J&J? Or was that just an edit?

Yeah - when I was watching the show, my wife noticed it in one of the close ups. She was like ‘Jeff is never going to see it’.

Apparently during the live feeds, Jordan went ballistic, yelling and screaming at Sherry for an hour or so. She said she wanted to hit someone or something.

Kalia also apparently brought up dumbledoregate again last night.

Jordan SWORE at Shelly…and I’m not talking about “dang” or “sugar” or some other nicey little Southern graciousism. “I GAVE YOU YOUR F-ING PHONE CALL!”

Now, a little later she DID calm down and act ashamed of how she acted, but seriously…Jordan SWORE!

HoH Spoiler:

Porsche won it…it was that snaky ball-rolling thing.

Best episode this season! Big Jeff got GOT!

Okay, I’m not watching this season but had it on tonight because I was too lazy to find something else to watch. Of course, the phone rang five minutes before the end.

What was in Pandora’s Box?

Porsche and Kalia get $5,000 each, BUT the duo twist is back on for one week only (Kalia gets $5000 because Porsche picked her to be her duo partner). The duos are Porsche and Kalia, Rachel and Jordan, and Shelly and Adam.

In other words, if Porsche were to put up Rachel and Jordan, and then either Rachel or Jordan won veto, both of them would come down and Shelly and Adam would go up, and then bye-bye, Shelly (Three of them voting, two of them being Rachel and Jordan, so Shelly’s a foregone conclusion).

Alison Grodner sure does come through for her pets…

Yeah, this is a pretty boldfaced game manipulation twist. Granted I’ve only seen three seasons, but this has to be up there as one of the most ridiculous ones ever.

Even better, the twist doesn’t even make sense. Let’s say Rachel & Jordan are on the block, and Adam & Shelly win veto and decide to pull Rachel & Jordan down. I know, not really realistic, but let’s say the veto is a singles competition and Adam wins it and decides he wants this to be his “big game move” for the season so he pulls down Rachel & Jordan. What then? Porsche and Kalia go up?

This game mechanic simply doesn’t work. I’m eagerly awaiting the Wednesday show to see this issue addressed. (Ha!)

That said, tonight’s episode was full of win. So much good drama to chew on. Nom nom nom.

Even acknowledging that it’s Grodner spinning things to get her favored outcome, has Pandora’s Box EVER been good for almost anyone? Really? WHY would you choose to open it?! Yeah, there have been some nice prizes for the HoH (Natalie’s visit with her fiancee, diamond power of veto, money in various amounts) but there’s almost always some really BAD flip side to it. I find it hard to believe that NOBODY could possibly forgo a small reward in anticipation of a really lousy flipside.

That’s what I was thinking, considering what’s going on.

Still, it’s interesting I suppose.

I’m thinking that only the HoH and partner, along with the two nominees, will play for veto. That’s the only way I could see it working.

I get the feeling that, in the unlikely event that Porsche didn’t take the Pandora money, they would have instituted the return of the Duos anyway. That “Expect the Unexpected” mantra is just a out for the producers to change the rules at any time to favor outcomes they hope will produce better TV.

Yeah, that “twist” was a pretty blatant manipulation to keep Jordan & Rachel in the house. I think it was only added at the last minute after Porsche won HOH.

I wonder though, can you answer “No” if someone asks to be your partner? If Adam had asked to pair with Jordan and Shelley with Rachel, would they have had to agree? Cause that would have been one way to guarantee one of them going home.

If that were the case then Porsche could just put up Adam and Shelly, keeping Rachel and Jordan out of the veto competition. Then the four allies could just agree that whoever wins the veto would take Adam and Shelly off, paving the way for Porsche to put up Rachel and Jordan.

Somehow, I don’t think the producers would make it that simple.

Excellent point. Also, I believe (it may be just me) that the edits last night were done to show how undesirable it will be to have Porsche in the winner’s circle. The edits have also made Shelly’s winning a long shot.

As it stands, I’d almost like to see Rachel win, knowing that Jordan basically has no chance. Adam’s chances are too slim even to consider him a prospect.

Does that leave Kalia? Please tell me she can’t win!

On one hand, Adam seems like the worst player who ever* thought* he was a good player. “I HAVE to win this competition!” and then he rolls off with a 4 or whatever weak effort he got. On the other hand, he’s still there…
