Big Brother 17, the final three.

All in all, it was a pretty bad season I think. If you didn’t watch, you obviously don’t care, if you did, then you certainly agree it wasn’t the best by far. Too many people just played along not taking any advantage to organize any kind of a movement. They were happy to be pawns each week, and they ended up leaving one at a time.

Final 3.
Liz.
Vanessa.
Steve.

Last week John took the bus, the week before that, Austin. What didn’t make the show was Austin refusing to leave and insisting Vanessa change her vote after it had been cast. (Vanessa was HOH and had the tie beaker vote - totally blindsided Austin). Austin exposed himself as a total ass in this. It’s too bad America didn’t get to see that.

Anyway, Steve sort of coasted to where he is by blind luck. The last challenge he faced was a math challenge. Be closest to a number without going over. He multiplied 60 x 101 and got 601. That was his answer and it was closest, without going over, to the 2800 correct answer. Dumb luck he sucks at math.

Liz had Austin and her sister to help her make it (carry her) as far as she has gone. She didn’t do anything spectacular on her own. She was mediocre at best. She deserves Austin me thinks. Pity the offspring.

Vanessa did it by playing every angle. Literally, every angle, good, bad, terrible, whatever, she played it. I can respect her for that.

I’m hoping Vanessa wins it merely because one has to.

The season sucked except for James, Megan, Becky and (when it was down to just him and others) John. The only worse season was whenever Jun was the winner.

They need better selection procedures or the concept has dried up as far as I’m concerned. The only reason to watch the thing is because there’s NOTHING else on!

Toss a coin for the winner. I do NOT care.

I can’t see Vanessa getting a single vote – no matter who she’s up against in the final.

My problem with BB is that it has become so predictable. As the season was going on, the hamsters knew what type of contest was coming up. The picking of have nots? Stupid. Producers need to make big changes. Get rid of the battle of the block. Enforce the “you can’t tell someone you’re nominating them” rule. Go back to how the first few seasons were, not this formulaic crud.
As far as the final three - the only one I dislike is Liz. Vanessa and her constant crying and “I’m all alone” schtick - the jury knows it’s bull - but it worked for her. I also think Steve is an actor and isn’t as awkward as he’s been portraying. I think the “real” Steve will come out on finale night. As long as Liz doesn’t win, I’m okay.

In case anybody wants to see the history of the US Big Brother seasons, and who won them, see this page.

Jun Song won BB4 in 2003. Seems longer ago to me.

Can you think of a worse season that BB4?

IMO, Steve is either a brilliant young man (I would say the probability of that is about 2 percent) or he just stumbled his way to F3 by blind luck.

On another Big Brother site, people refer to him as a StumbleBum - but they don’t use the word “Bum”. They use the “F” word instead and I would think that is much more likely. He could very well be called a StumbleBum.

I only watched about 20 percent of the episodes this season and half of them were at the very beginning. This season got really old really quickly. Yuck!

The one thing that really irked me this season was that after the announcer or host would explain the rules for a challenge (either a Veto challenge or a HoH challenge or any other kind of challeng), then one of the hamsters would explain it again in their own words. That is completely repetitive and boring and impossible to watch after you’ve seen that happen about 3 or 4 times before. But the producers seemed to insist on putting the viewers to sleep by asking us to watch that crap twice every time. It is just awful.

I wonder how many people noticed the one big change this season. They usually have some “luxury competitions” or other kinds of challenges designed to give the Hamsters a chance to win some cash or trips or other nice prizes. But about six weeks after this season started, they just stopped that cold. My guess is that the production staff just decided that this season’s contestants just did not deserve anything like that and they were not going to give them any such thing. IMO, that was probably the most interesting thing about this season.

And, do you remember the silly “Takeover” things they did? They said they would have one each week all season (or something like that). But once they saw just how dismal they appeared to be, they just cut it out cold. That was an unusually good decision. One of the only times they have decided that one of their “twists” was a stinker and they killed it on the fly. They deserve some congrats for that.

I could go on. But it’s really just not worth it. This show has become terrible and not even worth the effort to watch it. Even if no effort is required.

If any of TPTB ever read this, pls kill this dismal crappy show ASAP and get that host some other job where she doesn’t have to read - or think.

He said it was a mistake and it probably was. Either that or he is a real genius competitor and figured out that if he knew the right answer but faked the other contestents out by claiming that he made some error in coming up with the winning answer, then the winning contestant would figure he was a Stumblebum and choose to take him to the F2 instead of the other contestant.

One thing is for sure. Steve proved that you can float to the final 3.

I’m just glad I got to see what an ass Austin was. Biggest dude in BB had the biggest breakdown when evicted. I wonder what will happen when Liz says adios to him. We’ll read about that in the paper.

You’ve helped convince me to pull for Steve (as opposed to just not giving One Damn who wins).

And I was against the idea of Austin back when he and Jace started playing air guitar. I did a 180 on Vanessa as time went on; I had her as one of my faves way back when; I also was put off by John early on but likewise switched on him along the way. I could pull for John (over James) to win the $25K, but I hope it’s James. He’s been the only reason this season isn’t a total washout for me.

Was this on the live feeds? That would be awesome to watch. Anyway you can post a clip of it?

I too would like to know more about Austin’s eviction behavior either by a video link or the telling of someone who saw it via the live feeds.

BB15: Enter The Racists. Between the disgusting racism of about half of the house, the horrible rants and tantrums of the Amandabeast, and the fact that the weaselly gay ginger Andy won, it’s definitely the nadir of the series. Season 9 was another bad one…that was the winter/spring season they did because of the writers’ strike, where every goddamn one of them was a trashy asshole.

Nice work. Can’t argue!

We might revisit whatever thread we had a while back trying to identify the worst BB contestant. It will take some convincing to sway me away from Mike Booger, but I can think of at least five in the running. The BB producers seem to be finding them without much trouble to provide “special guest” appearances this season!

Yeah, the first thing I thought of was Season 9. The dregs.

Echoing others, Morgenstern, how did you find out about Austin’s behavior when he was voted out? Were you in the audience? Or did the cast talk about him on live feeds after? The live feeds were shut off during that period.

There are a lot of creepy, scary things about Austin that didn’t make the show. Hopefully Liz’s family will deprogram her.

I think this season is BORING, and that a minority of the houseguests are petty, small and snide, but I don’t think it comes close “the worst”. As I posted before, BB15 wins that hands down, with 9 a fairly close runner-up and 6 coming in a distant third (the Friendship cult thing was really, really annoying, and Haggy won the season).

I think you have pretty much hit the nail right on the head!
