Oh, don’t worry. They’ll adjust it down to below freezing before we get there. Or they won’t, and it won’t get above freezing and they’ll pretend they never said it would.
Bet you were pissed off.

Why do you live there? Damn stubborn or another reason? It’s cold enough for me in Central Texas… There’s some sleet and wind but nothing like that!
Local weather forecast says Friday drops to 1!
For me, it’s because there are four seasons and I like the variety. I don’t like the heat and for the most part the summers are bearable. (I am also spoiled because I commute from one garage to another and my father clears the snow!)
-6F this morning, they tell me.
I don’t know for sure. I was asleep on my heated mattress pad covered with flannel sheets, accompanied by three cats who also appreciate a warm cocoon in the winter.
Tomorrow morning, though, I have to get out of the bed and go out into the cold.
What’s “heat index”? Not familiar with it.
Because I would find Texas summer heat even more intolerable than Indiana winter.
It’s a mix between ambient heat and humidity. Also called by some the “misery index.” Not surprisingly, it is almost always used in hot, humid climates. It is less of a problem than wind chill, as humidity is far less variable over the short term than wind speed, which changes by the second.
In summary, it purports to be a measure of how hot it “feels.”
Does this look cold to you?

After my first winter in New England I’d be ok with moving to Central Texas (in theory). My wife, while she’s hating this winter, loves the Fall of New England. In fact, she’s one of those people who loves “seasons.”
I don’t need seasons. I’m fine with the California desert, “cold” in the winter and hot in the summer. I don’t mind 105 degree temps.
Heh. I just checked the weather report - for most days this week, it’s a mixture of light snow and clear skies, but for one it just says “Cold”. The picture is a man in a coat, bending over.
Summer in St. Louis.
I think my ice mountains are bigger than yours!
[sub]gotta remember to activate my hot tub cam sometime . . .[/sub]
Currently only -10C in Northern Alberia but thispretty much sums it up at this point in the winter…
Less than two weeks of (meterological) winter to go.
Then we can start bitching about what a rotten March it is.
In the meantime we’re having it pretty easy this winter where I live. Maybe a few colds temps here and there but almost no snow and, lately (and by “lately” I mean over the last several weeks), highs mostly in the mid- to upper 50s to low 60s Fahrenheit. I’m starting to think that’s why the Patriots won the Super Bowl - so that Northeasterners could comfort themselves with that while otherwise suffering through cold temps and record amounts of the white stuff!
Alberia, Italy or Alberia, Mexico?
We’ve had a relatively mild winter here in the Midwest, until a few weeks ago. Right now, it’s about 5 degrees with 20+mph winds.
I still haven’t decided if I’ll go to my church’s Ash Wednesday service this evening.
I got you all beat. -21 F in Fargo, North Dakota.
