Bizarro World Ice Cream Truck…A Herald of Spring MMP

Yeah, yeah I know. We’ve had a Spring MMP already. Yeah, Yeah I know. Some of you are still dealin’ with snow and stuff. Yeah, Yeah I know. It’s the start of Fall in opposite world.

However, in South Jawja it’s Spring and that means many (ok a couple) things.

It means the start of pine pollen season. My back porch is covered in pine pollen. Everything outside is covered in pine pollen. Dang neighbors pine trees! Why can’t they keep the pollen in their own yards where it belongs! That’s another rant entirely though.

For me the true herald of Spring is not birdies chirpin’ away. It’s the return of Bizarro World Ice Cream Truck. Really. It’s amongst us already with all it’s tinny tingly music blarin’ away and disturbin’ my back porch [del]drunken stupor[/del] reverie.

It plays the most bizarre assortment of tunes! Here’s a samplin’ of what I’ve heard comin’ out of the blarin’ speakers:

Christmas in Spring…

Silent Night
Joy To The World
Silver Bells
Jingle Bells

The Wild, Wild West…

Home, Home On The Range
The Yellow Rose of Texas
Oh Bury Me Not On The Lone Prairie

A Salute to Rodgers and Hammerstein…

Edelweiss
The Surrey With The Fringe On Top
My Favorite Things

Give It Up For Irving Berlin…

In Your Easter Bonnet

Seriously. Every dang day! Late afternoon. This is the Bizarro World Ice Cream Truck seranade throughout da ‘hood. For what seems like hours on end.

This almost makes me want to climb up on the roof with a shotgun!

Lucky for Bizarro World Ice Cream Truck driver I am in the habit of havin’ a beerverage or two to mellow me out.

Ok, I’ve put up the MMP…… take it away!

Oh and just for Rebo and twickster should she happen by… :stuck_out_tongue:

Dangit! Where’d the sig go!

One more time for the sig line… Rebo and Twicks:stuck_out_tongue:

Technical first, bitches!!

I am currently posting under a haze of pollen and wine. I told my mom I didn’t feel so much sick as stomping my foot and saying “damn! damn! damn!”

My mom - a seasoned nurse - said Yep, that’s allergies!

I have been largely absent lately. I’ll do my best to remedy the situation.

And to anyone that suffers the spring pine pollen allergies I’ll only say: nasal cleanse. You won’t be sorry.

Morning all. Spring has sprung here too (although we never really had a winter). Nice OP, swampus! That ice cream truck sounds scary!

The ice cream truck that [del]accosts our ears with its noise pollution[/del] makes us merry in springtime has 2 songs only: Pop Goes the Weasel and Music Box Dancer.

Both make horrendous earworms.

I am off to bed soon. I have chinodoxa, scylla and crocuses in bloom! Life is good.

Technicaly fifth! W00T!!!1!

The ice cream truck is my hood, too. The UNC-TV gig went well, the announcer was gracious and wore Claire’s balls on his head. Sadly, it’s back to work tomorrow, as Gordie failed to bark out any winning Powerball numbers.

Ice cream truck? glances out the window, yet again, at the huge pile of snow that dumped on them last night after such a nice couple of days Not here, that’ for sure. 'course if I wanted ice cream I can go to DQ quite easily (I hear some places they close in winter!)

Bah, time for sleep.

For those of you who may, upon stumbling bleary-eyed to this thread prior to work later this morning, contempate posting blurfs…

My girlfriend accidentally tore my nipple in half.

Trust me, your day could be SO much worse.

Yeah moontune? How, pray tell? :(:dubious: I just sprained my wrist giving my son “two for flinching”. He’s a big ol’ 16 yo, and offered his shoulder, so I thought “Why not?” Well, the why not turns out to be a swollen hand and wrist, and I am typing left handed, which is not my dominant hand.

We are under yet another winter advisory, 8" of the effin’ white stuff has fallen today, and it’s supposed to keep falling until Thursday.

Allergies abound here too swampus, only ours is the result of no fresh air and the mold that needs almost daily wiping down from around the windows. Not to mention cats and poms. Their fur, I mean, not that they need wiping down. :stuck_out_tongue:

Grandma’s funeral is set for this coming Wednesday. According to mom it has been awful, she and my aunt were left instructions to clear out all of her household stuff, and while not an obvious hoarder, they have a ton o’ crap to go through. Grandma’s nephew-in-law/executor of the finances is in Africa with a buddy riding motorcycles and doesn’t even know she’s passed. Sadly for him, she begged him not to go as she “might die” and he assured her that she had years left.

Och, my hand needs ice, and there is no medicinal ice cream to be had. So I think I will have some medicinal rum. I’ll try to post more than once this week.

smooches

Happy Monday, everyone! Moonie, you have to tell us the story, you can’t just leave that kind of tale hanging.

I have been very busy just lately - Friday I was out of the office all day doing exam invigilation at a doctors’ surgery near home. It was nice to be working closer to home but it was a longer day than it is when I have to travel into the office. The exam dealt with students doing poster and portfolio presentations and we had to get through 24 students during the day. Luckily it all went well in the end, despite some students getting the wrong info and being sent to the wrong surgeries, and one resit student who had to be examined by four doctors instead of the usual two.

Saturday was errands day, I bought a new frock for a wedding next weekend so I’ll be looking vaguely respectable. The evening was date night with 'im indoors. We went out for food in Brum, finishing up at Nando’s instead of the place we’d originally intended, then we went to see Cirque du Soleil’s “Quidam” show at the National Indoor Arena (NIA). It was a fantastic show, but a completely shit venue. I wouldn’t want to go there to see that kind of show again, it was spoilt by the venue being so crappy.

Sunday was Mothering Sunday here so I was off to visit the doting parent. We went out for lunch, I fixed her laptop, fixed her printer, bought shelves for her, took her grocery shopping and helped her install a light in a cupboard. The slow changes in daylight meant I got to drive home before it got properly dark too so that was a bonus for me. 'im indoors had decided to make curry - you do not want to know the level of devastation that follows such a decision. I was still cleaning up the kitchen this morning!

The week promises to be busy - tonight is my only free night, tomorrow is Fat Club, Wednesday is pub night, Thursday the builder’s coming to talk about the work we need to have done, Friday will be grocery shopping, and Saturday morning will be an early start to get the train up to York for the wedding. I am worn out just thinking about it.

Hugs, smoochies, yays, boos and wet trout as appropriate…

Missed my edit window too…

Many belated happies, snowbunny!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN I wanna go back to bed but I can’t so tough. Oh well, at least it’s my Tuesday.

Moonie that is why I don’t want any of my stuff pierced. Ok, I assume the nipple got torn in half due to piercin’. Anything other than that, I probably don’t want to know. :stuck_out_tongue:

BooFae our guest Celebrant in church yesterday, a nun, talked about Mothering Sunday. That’s what MidLent is called. Also it’s called Rose Sunday. Anywho she mentioned some kind of ghastly cake that is allegedly popular for Mothering Sunday that involves marzipan. It sounded awful.

Ok, need a bit more caffiene and some brekkies then I must purtify for work.

Later Y’all!

Awww, snowbunny I’m sorry I missed wishing you a happy birthday, so for a belated one, how about a Very Happy Belated Birthday Monday!?

Seriously though, the volcano has blown, here’s a link, as my threads tend to sink like stones.

Oh yeah, I forgot moontune is into piercings, I just couldn’t wrap my mind around that severe a type of sex play. Still, though, ow ow ow ow ow!

Nice OP, Swampy! We had bizarro ice cream truck last year, but this year it just plays “Green Sleeves.” Which is not so bad. And it quit the obnoxious “Hell-ooooo!”

Ow ow ow, Moonie!

Good to see you, Kai.

I came in to work and hour and a half early, just in case those guys in Scotland had sent me an email to ask any questions about the work I sent them on Saturday. Also I thought it would look good to the bosses if I handled stuff before they got here.

But there is no email, so I’m posting.

I’m sleepy though. I got up at 4:00. Guess I better get some mor coffee…

Nice sig, Swampy!

Eons ago when the Vunders lived in Hampton VA, the one-tune ice cream truck would come around, blaring Turkey In The Straw loud enough to make your ears bleed.

Now that the VunderLair has relocated to East Buttcrack NC, we’re so remote that store bought ice cream melts by the time you get home from the grocery. Personally, I think that’s a big improvement.

Snippets to report:

The 10 foster puppies are gone to new homes, replaced by 2 cats that have suddenly increased to 7 yesterday.

VunderKind had spring break last week. He went with some buds to a big concert in Kentucky, and is rather beat up from being in the mosh pit.

My grass is starting to grow. Now I have to consider un-mothballing the mower for the season.

Blurf.

Wiki, does the volcano affect you?

Good morning all. Yes, I’m up and caffeinated, at work already, getting ready for a second caffeination even. LOL

Hugs to kai and an ice pack for her ouchy hand; hope it’s doing better now. An anti-snow dance to make it stop, for those who’ve had enough, too!

We have, unfortunately, many ice cream truck although I must say that I haven’t seen all that many yet. They seem to play the usual medley of tunes; the one that is the most disturbing, though, is that “helloooo” one. I think the first time I actually recognized that tune (from the ice cream truck that is), I thought the driver was saying hello to me, and was thinking, “what a bizarre person!” LOL So yes, it definitely is the bizarro ice cream truck to me.

My weekend was too short! :stuck_out_tongue:

Off to work.

Kai and Moonie! OWIEEEEE!!!
For the rest of you- let’s be careful out there!
Oh, love the idea of bizzaro world ice cream truck. I STILL get excited when the IC truck comes by!
