OK, full story for the two who asked:
I have both of my nipples pierced - nothing fancy, just a straight horizontal stud through each. I had them done about a month ago, and over the weekend (Saturday) I replaced the 14G studs I had been using with a pair of 10G studs, which look quite nice and which are what I plan to stay with; my girlfriend thinks they’re sexy too so all was well.
Now, yesterday was the last day of Spring Break, meaning the two of us would both be packing up and heading back to campus; having not seen each other for ten days, we made plans to get together as soon as we were both back at school and unpacked. Fast-foreward to Sunday afternoon and we’re laying in bed together (pants and underwear still on and fastened, before anyone gets the wrong idea) just snuggling and generally be adorable. Again, all was well.
As we’re laying there, she starts running her hands over my chest, and discovers that because i’t just gauged up my piercings, my nipples are VERY sensitive to the touch (in a good way) and with just a light touch she can get me to make all sorts of interesting noises… among other reactions. One thing leads to another, and she starts getting a little rougher, and I’m THOROUGHLY enjoying myself and she’s having way too much fun making me writhe and moan, and in a moment of inspiration, she takes hold of the piercing in my right nipple and starts to twist it very gently. This, it turns out, feels VERY good, a fact which I made abundantly clear without ever explicitly stating so, and so naturally she decides to twist it a little farther, past the 90-degree mark, when suddenly there is a faint “pop”.
Suddenly all is not well.
The skin on the tip of the nipple had been stretched too far by the torsion, and had torn; the bar pulled completely out. There was a moment of absolute silence, during which I’m pretty sure we both looked exactly like this:
Interestingly, it didn’t hurt at all. In fact, when it tore, it wasn’t so much that I felt it; rather, I felt the sudden absence of the sensations that had been present as a result of having the piercing in and twisted. It didn’t bleed much, either, thankfully; all in all a far less severe injury than the phrase “ripped nipple” would lead you to believe.
After the obligatory OSHI- moment, we got out of bed to deal with the situation. We mopped up the few drops of blood with a tissue and rinsed the wound with hydrogen peroxide to prevent infection; I didn’t want it to heal completely cuz then the piercing would have to be redone, so I grabbed a safety pin (much narrower than the original piercing), rinsed it in rubbing alcohol, and set it into the hole so the injury would heal around it. Then we put a big glob of Neosporin antibiotic ointment onto a big ol’ bandage and stuck it in place. All in all, the situation wasn’t too bad; awkward, yes, and a bit embarrassing, but quickly and easily dealt with and after I got patched up we went right back to cuddling. Sheepish grins were exchanged and all was once again well.
As of this morning, when I changed the dressing after taking a shower, the tear has already closed over at the surface. It’s going to take a few days to heal, but oh well; I’ll get the piercing back in eventually.
The end
