Bizarro World Ice Cream Truck…A Herald of Spring MMP

taxi, it’s not actually a self-eval… not yet, anyways. What I have to do now is come up with some specific personal goals that I would like to be evaluated on in December, in addition to the usual core competencies that the company believes we should all exemplify on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, “Complete a team coffee run on an average of three afternoons per week for the duration of Q2 2009” doesn’t seem to qualify as a reasonable personal objective, or so my manager says. The sad part is that it’s probably the only thing I can reasonably expect to achieve over the next quarter, because I have absolutely zero knowledge of my long-term tasks… that would require New Boss Guy to actually complete a goddamn project plan with tasks and timelines and stuff. Sigh.

(I’m staying out of that “I hate this job” thread in the Pit because I could easily have written half the posts in there… it’s depressing)

Spaz, we forgive you for not getting the cake recipe. You better have it Tuesday, though… or else.

I’m making a chicken and artichoke stew for dinner. It’s from a Persian cookbook one of the The Boy’s coworkers loaned us… I shall share the results, assuming they’re any good.

Muppet do you think it a wise idea to “or else” somebody who is contemplating taking up brown recluse raising? “Frieda” could be trained to make home visits, you know.

I had a grilled cheese sammich and some thin mint GS cookies for dindin. I say that’s a well-balanced meal.

How about Ichy? or Ichi-san?

I wonder if anyone of a certain accumulation of decades invariably prefers the jingle jingle bells, which eventually become so much white noise to an adult with a reasonable backlog of ice cream in the freezer, to any music in a merciless repeat loop. The trucks in my locale are restricted to the very few tunes, such as “Turkey in the Straw,” that don’t have any half tones in whatever key the music is played in (i.e. in a hypothetical key of C, there can’t be any sharps or flats). Not only is this in itself maddening, but to cap off the music a recorded female voice shrieks “Hello!?” in what to my ears at least is a hostile, if not threatening, tone of voice.

twiddle, twiddle, twiddle…

Just how the heck long is it going to take for this terabyte RAID array to rebuild a drive? It’s more boring than watching paint dry! At least it’s an automated process that I don’t need to watch.

Meanwhile, just wondering what to have for dinner. We’re all turkeyed out. The bones are simmering away into stock right now. No more turkey until Thanksgiving… Might do grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.

Huh… looks like me and swampy will be eating pretty much the same thing for dinner.

Two trailers of interest:

Family Guy’s Star Trek TNG episode
Where the Wild Things Are

It is also Thursday and, as such, I have expressed my frustrations in an auntly manner. God I love Ask Margo. She is such a drama queen.

if any one is interested, go watch my chorus’ dress rehearsal for competition, which is this weekend

OMG that is too funny - I can’t wait until Sunday

Rule Number One in the Library: Do NOT move the Librarian’s Shit. Spaz, I am so sorry…

I’m home from a very long, very bad day at work. And I’m so lucky that I get to turn around and do it ALL again tomorrow, but with double the patients! Words fail me.

Off to do bubble bath, then Frasier, with Fudge Ripple ice cream AND nuts AND marshmallows.

Home. gordie and I are drinking Yuengling.

Great song, rosie! [hijack]Why is my YouTube in German?[/hijack]
Mental note: Never, ever screw with SpazCat.

Muppet, I’ve always wanted to use “Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women.” as a goal.

Welcome. Ichi! don’t forget the beerverages for swampy. Vbob and myself.

Mornin’ all. Can’t keep up this week, so refer to rosie’s sig for appropriate responses!

Welcome to Itchy Knees! Come on in, the water’s fine!

I am going to see a Korean show tonight with a friend - Cookin’ by Nanta Theatre. Apparently, it’s a huge hit in Seoul, and has/had a good run in New York, off Broadway. It’s a non-verbal play about some chefs, with lots of cooking, etc.

Otherwise, it’s business as usual. I am now totally adjusted to waking up in the morning to find someone else has made coffee and breakfast, as well as packed all the lunchbags! I love my housemaid!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ on what is supposed to be a day off, but oh well. Off I go to da workplace anyways.

Yays, boos, hugs, trouts, gropes, noogies, woohoos and awwws… distribute as needed.

Later Y’all!

::yawn:: stretch mrrrrrrp?
(oh, sorry - I was channelling Smokey there for a moment) =^.^=

Off to Philly today for competition weekend. We’re hoping to move from a C to a C+, maybe even a B- ; at the very least be a decent candidate for Most Improved and maybe even place 2nd or 3rd in the mid-sized category. The weather driving down will be lovely - coming back on Sunday, however, we’ll be riding the thunderstorms. Oh Joy.

Have a lovely weekend, all - see you (maybe Sunday night, but definitely) in the next MMP

I’m still up, stupid insomnia. I appreciate the suggestion of melatonin BBBobio, but it doesn’t work on me. I need the good drugs, and my doc is incredibly stingy in handing those out. So, I nap here and there, and count 4+ hours of sleep at a time to be a blessing.

I haven’t addressed the OP properly. When I lived in Washington (the wet side) there were the chain of “Joe’s” ice cream/popsicle trucklets, and the only tune they played was “Daisy, Daisy”. No summer afternoon/evening was complete without the popsicle truck, and I miss them. Considering that Alaskan’s eat more ice cream per capita than any other state, one would think that a fleet of ice cream trucks would be a good idea, but it hasn’t happened.

Mt. Redoubt has thrown more ash into the air, but it’s headed away from us at t he moment. The melt off from the blizzard does have us under flash flood warning though. Never a dull moment in my world!

Anyway, Happy Firday to everyone!

I’d like to suggest a cookbookfor the Mumpers. Hell, I ought to suggest it for Weird Earl’s.

Blurf, happy Firday, hugs, yays, boos, wet trouts, and gooses as appropriate.

Blurf. I’s having oatmeal. It is good.

Vundy, I find that cookbook horribly disturbing. Also, I’m not really sure if “Hurt Me! Hen” is a particularly appetizing-sounding meal… but that’s just me.

doggio, I just might use that as one of my goals. It has a very good ring to it… though my manager might ask me to break it up into three individual goals to make it more measurable at year end.

Have fun, rosie! Hope the choir kicks ass.

WTF??? I need more x-rays and an ultrasound and they can’t get me in until April 14??? Anyway, I did some more Googling and decided not to get my undies in an uproar. It is what it is.

rosie, the girls sound great and I love the blue tunics.

muppet, just turn “Complete a team coffee run on an average of three afternoons per week for the duration of Q2 2009” into “Develop and implement a quarterly schedule interface of tri-weekly operational requisition strategies involving project participants.”

I am very glad today is Firday. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tupug

Morning Mumpers! It’s warm and drizzly, and I took the trash out.
Good luck, rosie!

Hope the insomnia stops soon, kai.

It was foggy this morning - heavier in some places than others.

and …HAPPY FIRDAY FINALLY!!!

Muppet, how did that chicken and artichoke stew turn out, from the Persian cookbook? kai, sorry about the insomnia, wish I could help but will send sleepy thoughts your way instead.

I am back in HS via facebook! LOL I am in touch with a lot of the girls I went to HS with, many of whom I haven’t seen since … well, we won’t admit how long it’s been other than that it’s been a good long time! Some of them are not far away from me so there may be some face to face meetings, which makes me both excited and nervous at the same time. LOL There were numerous things I absolutely hated about HS.

Well,. so glad it’s Friday, but I do have to do some actual work now. Can you beat that?! Imagine! LOL I am so ready to retire! :stuck_out_tongue: Oh yes, I am -very- envious of Dotty’s house maid!

I think there are some good suggestions here for goals for the year, Muppet! If you’re not getting any management direction, what else are you supposed to use besides suggestions from the internet?

Could I just not have to come to work on days when I have little to do and even less motivation? I’m totally not going to be productive today. Blah.
