[Blood Bowl] The Dopest Cup Registration Thread

It’s back to $40, so I’m going to wait for the full -featured one…sorry guys.

Just a final bump for the WE. If no one else registers (or wishes to take advantage of the Impulse sale to buy the game), we’ll go ahead and start on Monday with just the seven of us, with one player fielding two teams.

Bump. Any last-minute sign-ups? I don’t mind running 2 teams, but it would be good to get to 8.

Yea, I would be happy to run two teams as well, but more people are more fun.

Whelp, I got some good news and bad news.

The bad news is, my comp blew a gasket, I think either the mobo or the graphics card is fried, and the other computers I’ve got to work with can’t handle BBowl. So I’m off until I unfuck things.

The good news is that this puts us (well, you guys) back into even numbers of players, so either nobody has to play a second team, or both Omi and merrick can if they want to. Somebody will have to start up the league though. It’s not all that complicated, so don’t be afraid  From the internet matchup window, just click “my internet leagues”, create one called The Dopest Cup with the above rules, create it and then come back here to give us the password. See ? Easy as pie.

Alright, I created it- The Dopest League, password DakkaDakka. Can everyone see it?

I saw it on the list. The game wouldn’t let me apply though. I created my account, and looked for the league, and found it. First the button said “cancel application” which was odd.

Then I realized I needed to create a team, so I created my Dwarf team. Then I tried to add the team to the league. The button now said apply or send application or something like that.

When I pressed it, I got an error message saying, “Unable to send application with a team that is in a public league.”

I haven’t joined any leagues at all with the new team, so that message is pretty bizarre. I will try again this afternoon.

I’m not sure what I did wrong when configuring it- I deleted it, so someone else should try making it and see if it will work.

I will try to create the league then, if no one else has by this afternoon.

Troll Slayers are my favorite dwarf unit so far. I like their ability to follow up with another attack.

Dwarves are very slow, but I got a movement increase on one of my runners, so he’s up to 7 movement, and he has Kick and Kick Off Return. He’s my only level 4 unit. The other runner has Pass, cause I’ve found moving the ball faster than my dwarves can run is necessary sometimes. Mostly I’ve used my passes to go side to side and find a hole in the defense.

Wardancers. That’s all I have to say.

OK, we’re good to go.
League name is “Dopest Cup”
Password is “DakkaDakka”

And after wading through the manual (no help), the Cyanide forums (not much help) and Cyanide’s patent Maximum Frustration Interface (Ork wanna Smash!) I worked out how to get teams into it.

The trick is that all teams are automatically created/uploaded as part of the public league, so you have to select the team and click “quit league” before you apply to the new league.

Oh, and I set it for TV950-1000 starter teams, so no uploading a TV2000 monster!

Alrighty, I got it working- applied to the league. ^^

I applied.

I saw in the settings for the league that it said Skilled Players - No. Does that mean we can’t train our players as they get SPP, or is that setting for something else?

You’re both signed up.

I think (but I’m slightly guessing here since the manual is as much use as a Goblin thrower) that that setting means you can’t hire experienced players but have to start with rookies. There are a bunch of settings like that (Aging? Doping?) that there doesn’t seem to be an option to change - I’m not sure if any of them do anything in turn-based mode or if they’re Blitz-only.

I’m pretty sure you’ll get your SPPs, though - otherwise what’s the point of having leagues?

That’s good.

On a humorous note, I hired two cheerleaders for my Dwarf team in the AI campaign. I couldn’t help laughing when I saw them in a game, especially the one ale-drinking dwarf that always falls down while cheering, lol.

Terrific I’ll sign up when I get home tonight.

I know I said I’d give Lizards a go, but I think I might give everyone a whipping boy to play with and bring in a Goblin team

cordylus’s Skaven and GreedySmurf’s Gobbos are in - now we only need Revenant Threshold and we’re good to go.

MindWanderer - if you like cheerleaders, you need to see the Goblins. And the Lizardmen.

I’m signed up! Sorry to be the last.

And the league is complete, and Round 1 has started, pitching <drumroll>:

cordylus’s Skaven against Revenant Threshold’s Lizards,
Omi no Kami’s Dark Elves against MindWanderer’s Dwarfs &
my Orks against GreedySmurf’s Gobbos

All the best to everyone, play hard, play foul and may the best Ork win!
