Bluebell Ice Cream Is Evil And A Big Cow Statue... The MMP

FCM, Yah Post Office! My hockey jersey has made it all the way to Charlotte today.

Happy Birthday
Spats and Puggy!!!

Drae, rebo, don’t feel bad, I suck at hooky, too.

LiLi, I’m sorry.

rigs, have you seen Office Space? It might make you feel better about your 'puter.

Very cute dogs, Twinkie!

:mopes because crummy husband won’t let me have a dog:

Twinks, like Taters said…AWWWWWWWWW… I loves me some doggies. I don’t have a doggie now. I had one, a cocker spaniel who died from cancer in 1997. Since then I haven’t had another due to work and travel and sick father (until he died) and all… but I want me a doggie baby real bad. That’s why I agree to be nanny for Joe Dawg the Psycho Chee-hoo-ah-hoo-ah whenever his daddy has to go out of town and I’m in town. One day, I will have me a doggie baby again. A co-worker (who lives on the street behind mine) just got a miniature Schnauzer puppy, to replace the miniature Schnauzer (sp?) they had that died. I am in love! She’s so keee-yooo-te! Can y’all tell I have major doggie baby lust right now?

All you Cool Kids who are experiencing flooding now, please be safe. We had major flooding here in 1994 that flooded our offices. Fortunately, my house at the time was high and dry. It’d be the same way now as far as my house is concerned, but since I’m in between the creeks and the big river, I’d just be stuck at home cause the main roads would be flooded. Just be safe, please, ok?

taxi you made me think about one of my high school buds with your posts. He was a good guy with a great future, cause he was a real BMOC in high school and all. Anyways, during spring break his freshman year in college in Panama City Beach (where Spats is), he decided to dive off a second floor balcony into the pool at the motel he was staying in. He made it the first time. The second time, he hit the cement and broke his neck. Needless to say, he didn’t make it. :frowning: Now, that’s a real, who knows what might have been except for one stoopid mistake story.

Dang, this is kind of a downer day in the MMP ain’t it!

We got a volunteer for next week yet? Come on, step up somebody.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

All righty, then. I think I’ve gotten the last of the boxes all ready to go. I went thru my email to make sure I’d entered all the addresses on my list. So if you sent me your address via email, you should be getting your ceramics soon via Priority Mail. Which is just a few cents more than Parcel Post and a lot faster. And it’s not too late to hop on the ceramics bandwagon, although the selection is severely limited now.

I just rewarded all my hard work with a dish of ice cream.

And my sweetie is taking off tomorrow and Monday, so we get a long weekend together. I’m trying to persuade him to come to the park with us tomorrow. He seems to think he should be building drawers. Sheesh - what priorities!!

On Saturday, he’s taking Robert out on the motorcycle, so I’ll get the day to myself. That’ll be nice. VERY nice. So I can stay home and play with clay. Woohoo!!

Oh yeah - Happy Birthday to all the celebrants! I wasn’t ignoring you - I was just distracted by clay. I’m really not unfeeling or ignoring you.

MWAH!! Group hug!!!

I’m so sorry about your loss, LiLi. Hugs to you and Mr. Lissar. It’s hard when it’s someone you didn’t like, especially if you’re the kind of person who really wants to like people.

I know someone whose birthday is July 3…oh and I work with someone whose birthday is the 4th. My guess on rigs’ birthday is February 22.

I went out to dinner with some old friends. We hadn’t been out together in ages (probably 3 or 4 years) and had lots to catch up on. Had a great time.

Now I’m tired and I have an 8:30 meeting and then a 9:00 for which I don’t have an agenda yet. So I need to get to work early and cook one up.

I’m tired and it’s my bedtime, so off I go…

Ijust got back from [url=http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=373707]Unodope[//url], so named because I was the oly on e to show up. We Triangel Dopers are a solitary lot. The last dope fest to have more than one participant was in 2002.

This post has been screwed up by the screw-up fairy! :smack:
Second try:

I just got back from Unodope, so named because I was the only one to show up. We Triangle Dopers are a solitary lot. The last dope fest to have more than one participant was in 2002.

Those … eyes … burning into my SOUL!! runs away
Pun.

Late. Bed. Thanks for all of the lovely birthday wishes. More info on how my B-day went tomorrow.

I do not want to be at work. I want to go home. I can’t, but I want to. That is all.

I’ve said it before, and I will say it again:

 T.G.I.F.

Wanna know a nice way to be awakened? It’s having your baby call you to say hi! My baby is in Port Canaveral today, and they’re clearing customs, so when they hit Baltimore on Sunday, that’ll be done. Being in Port C is no biggie for my kid, since she, you know, lives in Orlando, but what the heck - her grandmother paid for the cruise… Anyway, we’ll be picking her up on Sunday morning, and I can’t wait.

Despite her call, I sorta got to sleep in today - since** FCD** took the day off work, the alarm didn’t go off at 4:45, so I more or less slept till almost 7. Yay! I’ve taken Bernie out for her morning poo and pee walk, I’ve fed her and the cat, and I’m ingesting some caffeine to start my day. When the rest of the household is awake, we’ll make our decision about the park. And somewhere along the line, I need to clear all the crap off the other guest bed so my daughter has a place to sleep Sunday night.

Tomorrow,** FCD** is taking Robert out on the motorcycle for several hours. I’m thinking I’ll take advantage of that and play with clay. I have 5 pots that need to be trimmed, and I’d like to throw a few more. After we take the kids to the airport on Monday, I’m going to finally do the initial firing to “burn in” the kiln. Sheesh, being a creative, artistical person is hard work!!!

Happy Friday, all you laboring souls! My “vacation” - such as it is - is winding down. I’m almost looking forward to going back to the office for a rest!

pointedly does not let swampy and rosie know that I’m kicked back in my robe, chillin’ at home…

spats -the verdigris of your puns is shrinking.

I am off to pick up my car, which the mechanic could NOT fix. On to the dealer. I sooo hope I don’t have to get a new car (read different car, I will never purchase a new car again). I love my Volvo, but this is on my nerves.

Countertops come today, as does the pedestal for the washer.
It’s supposed to be hot today. 85 and more muggy. This is not good.

Good morning all. (sorry, forgot to do that first).

Oh yeah? Well your epidermis is showing! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m off all next week, so I will volunteer for the MMP. Hopefully I’ll think of something to talk about!

I’m feeling less tired, so I came to work today. Just about the whole office is gone, either on vacation, or they’re leaving. Wednesday we had a meeting to let people know the status of various members of the team. One designer is going back to the old location to work for our old boss in a different department. One engineer quit to become a consultant. Our new boss has taken another position in the company. His replacement will come from Aberdeen (where our sister company is.) And he’s bringing two more designers with him. And two of our engineers will be going to Aberdeen soon.

Ch-ch-ch-changes…

We have a name placed in nomination for next week’s MMP. Rebo has graciously stepped forward. Ok, she did trip once, but just a little bit.

All in favor of Rebo host(ess?)ing next week’s MMP say “Aye”.

AYE!!!

All opposed say “Nay”.

:: CRICKETS ::
The “Ayes” have it. Congratulations Rebo. Do us proud.

li-li, the passing of someone you know, no matter how old they are or how you feel about them, is always tough to take. {{{{li-li and number one husband}}}

{{{riggs}}} Having little meltdowns is just nature’s way of rebooting. Ooops! Maybe a computer analogy wasn’t a very good idea. Sorry. :smack:

I am still sick but had to come in this morning to set up a meeting with some possible new clients from South America. Hope I didn’t pass on any crud germs. I’ll probably stick out the day but at least I am armed with cough medicine and ibuprophen.

I am SO happy I have the next four days off.

I have a pet peeve to complain about today: People who don’t know what they want when they get to the drive-through. (And the fact that “drive-through,” while technically correct, just looks wrong when typed, thanks to the American tendency to shorten everything–this is why our nation’s children can’t spell!!!)

Anyhoo, there’s a big menu to look at while you’re waiting in line!!! Why are you still thinking when you get to the big clown face or whatever you shout your order into? And it’s not like there’s a million choices, either–it was a frickin’ Dunkin Donuts!!! Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate! Make your choice, I’m gonna be late for work!

And don’t even get me started on the fact that they raised the price of a large coffee six cents to $2.01 so I can’t just hand them two bucks and feel good about myself for letting them keep the change. This is why I don’t get the extra-large anymore, because it used to be $1.98, and then it was $2.11, and I don’t have the energy to search for 11 cents every day.

Maybe I should switch to decaf, huh?
