Ah, blessed peace! The boys are out somewhere on the motorcycle. I just got finished running my errands. Life is good.
A small warning to ceramics recipients, and it’s not my fault. Many of you will get boxes with a buttload of 37-cent stamps on them. The lady at the post office was told to use them up, and so she did. I’m really sorry about the potential math, but I think the postage was either $4.20, $5.15, or $6.05, depending upon how far they went. The weight for each one was a pound and change, so the difference seemed to be miles. Now, there may be some differences, because I didn’t take notes, but I think this is how it fell out.
So, my home alone plans include baking the brownies I was going to bake earlier in the week, making a cucumber-onion salad, repairing the zipper on my daughter’s work pants, and maybe going out into the yard to muck about in dirt for a little bit. Or not. I haven’t decided.
I’ve got the windows all open for now - we’ll see how long before I can’t stand it and have to turn on the air, but it’s not too muggy and there’s a breeze, which should prolong fresh air.
Nice that the work was pretty much done, rosie. Talk about ways to reduce stress!
Glad you get to relax a bit FCM. Almost sounds like a vacation…
OK…I give up. For now. It’s hot out, I’m tired, and even putting the water and newspaper on the cart so I don’t have to bend down so far, I was moving really slowly and wondering what plants I was going to fill in with and generally making everything take about 3 times as long as normal.
I’m thinking about going to Home Depot to get some pavers and order the pallet that I’m going to use to edge the heck out of my garden.
They’re talking about lemon ice-box pie on the radio. Sounds yummy.
Today has been a good day. Looked at two apartments this morning. One was in a questionable neighborhood that gave me a weird vibe, even on Saturday morning. The other was OK though. We’ll see what happens. Then I went back to my room and relaxed a little until I remembered that I needed to get groceries. Went and did that, but first, I went to the ice cream parlor and had an ice cream cone for lunch. Now I have groceries and a new pair of sunglasses. The old sunglasses keep getting scratched, despite my best efforts to protect them, and soon I won’t be able to see out of them properly, the way it’s going. Also, on the bus on the way home, I sat across from a young couple who kept kissing and rubbing each other’s thighs. Eww. I am admittedly very disapproving of all but the most discreet public displays of affection, from whatever kind of couple, but my current state of mind makes this disapproval increase. However, I am also polite and they weren’t being all that disturbing, so I just tried not to look at them.
I have also received by original FCM pottery. And yes, it was the one I expressed interest in earlier. GO FCM!!! I have figured out the postage and I will mail you a check. I don’t suppose you take PayPal?
Plan for today? As little as possible. Also maybe some video games.
I don’t usually keep up on the MMP after Friday, but I wanted something to do while I watch the World Cup. Bobbio, sorry the last occupant still has his stuff there. I moved into an apartment once where the previous renters hadn’t cleaned up before they left; it was a pain in the ass.
I made a cake last night: chocolate with white gin frosting. Yummy!
My stepsister-roommate is a cello teacher, and several months ago a Swiss woman contacted her about taking intensive cello lessons for a month. I think she was looking for cello teachers in Boston and my stepsisters website came up. Anyway, we also decided that we could rent her a room for the month if she couldn’t find a place to sublet, and she took us up on the offer. So now we have a Swiss staying with us for a month. It’s cool.
Also, wild Alaskan salmon were on sale for $3.49/lb! So we bought a whole salmon and had the nice fellow at the fish counter fillet it for us. Grilled salmon for dinner tonight, yum.
Howdy y’all! I was actually productive for a little bit today. I was up early this morning so, I took the Blazer in for an oil change and braved Wally*World for some vittles. While I was out I drove out to our church property. The trees that needed to come down are now all gone and they’re grading the space where the new building will be. Next week, they should start pouring the foundation so it can cure for a few weeks until the steel gets here. I drove around all over the graded part. I figure it’s as close as I’ll actually ever come to driving inside a church.
We’ve been at the pool this afternoon. Now I’m all showered and relaxed. I think we’re going to go get sump’n to eat. I’m actually more in favor of ordering pizza. We shall see. ACBG is showering right now. I think. I mean I’m not in there looking so I assume he’s in the shower. If he smells all showery the next time I see him I’ll know for sure. I’m hungry.
Shower and dinner update. ACBG did take a shower. I commented that he smelled all showery and then told him what I posted earlier. He said he feels lucky I wasn’t sitting on the toilet with a laptop giving y’all a blow by blow account of his shower. Oh, and he also said that that was not intended to give me any future ideas and that I was not to bring a laptop, pen, pencil. crayon or any kind of writing instrument and paper into the bathroom while he is showering. I never thought of actually taking notes, and now I guess I can’t. How sad! Oh, and we ordered pizza.
Incidentally, dinner was meatloaf, smashed N.O.T., and cucumber-onion salad. I made snow peas, too, but they were funkified and discolored, so I had to toss them. ick.
