Board performance problems

I still believe it’s those Lady Boys running the inscrutable internet over there.
You’ve been asked this before, but have you tried different browsers?

I’ve tried IE and Firefox. Both seem affected. :frowning:

Maybe it’s time I had a word with those ladyboys.

This is odd. Only a few threads were marked as Read when I logged on instead of all of them. Not all in a row but interspersed among the Unreads. But when I went into one of these, it acted as if it were Unread – there was a View First Unread link to click on, and it really did go to the first one Unread. This despite the Thread having been marked Read.

A new problem in just the past couple of days: Sometimes, but not always or even most of the time, a Board page will load very slowly, sometimes even stopping before it’s fully loaded, leaving only the upper portion of a page visible. A Refresh usually takes care of that.

I’m not mentioning all of this to be a pain. Just hope it lets the tech guys know what to look at.

And zapped again. It was going so well lately too.

Just wanted to say the Board’s been performing like a dream these past few weeks.

Cool!
Those Thai Ladyboys must have found something else to play with.

Dude. You jinxed us.

How so?

A ladyboy must have just hit him up.

Just got zapped. I fear the problem is creeping back.

And again. The problem is definitely back.

Yeah…I’m seeing some slow page loads, too.
But the hamsters are looking pretty awesome. Shame they aren’t in their wheels right now.

Zapped again. everything looked Unread, I look at one thing, then everything marked Read and no new posts anymore. Back to a regular occurrence. :frowning:

Me too, twice this week. Had not happened for at least a. month.

It’s some sort of hiccup upon log-in. Like today I logged in at 6:03am and everything was marked Unread. Then suddenly it showed I’d logged in at 6:04am and everything was marked Read. Someone previously suggested this was happening, causing a quick log-out and log-back-in, so I started checking the log-in time displayed, and that’s exactly what happens.

I think y’all are expecting too much from a computer program. It was years ago that I discovered some functions that made the illogical assumptions as you are describing. I ascribed them to software that’s as intelligent as apple pie – that is, the usual stuff – and have been coping with it ever since. I doubt that anything will change soon; it’s not SDMB’s fault, it’s just the way things are. Software developers are now working on jet packs, touch screens and Google Glass, not reliability and logic.

Now go outside and play.

I’ve been here for a long time and this problem did not happen in the early days. Something has changed. Maybe it will change again.
Now YOU go out and play. I like it in here, TYVM.

I haven’t had the read problem, but loading Participated threads in Tapatalk is taking longer than usual, and even loading some threads themselves is slow.

Happened to me for the first time since the board was (supposedly) repaired. There was a slight variation to how it worked in the past for me; in the past the last visited time would be OK for a minute or two and then reset to the current time. This time it was set to the current time the instant I got on SDMB.
