Well they tried recycling, but things went horribly astray when aunt Mabel tried canning the potassium and sodium for later, said sources in the local fire department.
AFAIK bodies being cremated aren’t embalmed at all; unless the family requests it or wants an open casket service. Or at least that’s what the funeral director told us when my great aunt died 2 yrs ago.

Missed the edit window, but just saw your comment about the procedures for embalming if it’s going for cremation. I’m not sure how they handle that normally, but either way the point is the corpse would have been pretty fresh at the time. The only reason that article even offers the “objecting to cremation” as a possibility is because they want to spare the family’s dignity by not mentioning the much, much more likely event that somebody is fucking their daughter’s corpse barring conclusive proof.

The executive vice president for medical services at the Center for Health Care Services has another theory :
“Individuals have stolen back the body of someone who was very close to them, near to them, because they couldn’t bear that loss,” Milam said.
She said perhaps someone could become fixated on the fact they strongly object to cremation.
“A person could say, ‘I don’t agree with what is being done. I need to take matters in my own hands,’” Milam said.
Speaking as a psychiatrist, Milam said some are so overwhelmed by their grief, “Our brains are not working the normal way that they would.”
Milam said it could reach a point that they may believe they’re acting out of love and respect, yet their sense of right and wrong has been altered.

At what point does this seem like a good idea to you?
