So I’m pretty regular with my workouts. Thrice a week to the gym, and three more at home.
I don’t get enough aerobic.
I love the shape, size and sculpt of my arms and chest. When I take my shirt off it looks great. I don’t have any abs to speak of, but I don’t like the idea of making these bigger than they already are (they’re big and the effect just pushes the fat to the outside, looking like a beer gut).
However, I have puny legs. Seriously, I joke that I could compete with Cindy Crawford in competitions. They are so darn effeminate. I’ve toned them up a li’l, but basically they are quite weedy.
True that I don’t exercise em nearly as much.
Though when I take my pants off, it’s the last thing a woman is licking her lips over. So I’m not quite bothered about it enough yet.
How 'bout u?
I have lifted weights, more on than off, for roughly ten years. I like the ritual of lifting weights - the idea of getting stronger and the chance to work off stress. I’ve developed a decent body, but I like the idea of powerlifting and lifting big weights more appealing than sculpting and bodybuilding. While I’m certainly somewhat vain, this is not really why I weightlift. I think of posing competitions, and the folks with fake tans who take diuretics and growth hormone, to be both sad and vainglorious.
I like my body just fine, thank you. I have small bones, and thus (relatively) small forearms and shins. I have a pretty flat stomach but doubt I will ever have a six pack. I have big arms, chest and shoulders. I spend almost zero time thinking about this stuff. It’s not why I like to lift weights.
Used to lift weights pretty seriously and regularly since 18 y.o. or so. Stopped for a while. Gained a lot of weight. Got back into it. Lost some weight but remained too big because weight lifting didn’t offer enough calorie burning to lose weight effectively.
Stopped lifting pretty much entirely last year. Got back into cycling and running and have dropped lot’s of weight. Now I only lift my own body weight and do a lot of core and aerobic based exercise. I like the way it’s changed my body and will continue to trim down as much as I’m able. I tend to put muscle (and fat) on very easily so chin-ups, dips, pushups and various ab/core work keeps my size and strength pretty stable. In fact, I’d love to trim down some more but that’s proving a bit difficult these last few months. Dog days of summer really drain me so I expect I’ll be able to step it up once the cooler days of fall come around.
I don’t think I’d ever want to get into real body building. Too much stress on the joints for a guy my age and I don’t want to have to buy another wardrobe. I’m liking being less bulky and the feel of being more aerobically fit.
Just a female chiming in (one who herself is far, far from a body builder :)). I like a toned man, nice strong arms, flat stomach, some chest to snuggle on- but the whole body builder thing is not attractive. Of course, I am talking about those guys you see in the gym and on ESPN with the tiny waists and vains popping out everywhere. Why?
-
It comes to a point where a guy gets TOO big. Vains sticking out through all your rippling muscle= not attractive.
-
The guy seems way too high maintenence.
-
I want a guy that I can go out at get ice cream with- not protein shakes.
Anyway, to sum up my points: I like the male upper body- it’s lovely to look at and your legs aren’t so important. Have some nice, semi toned thighs though…for um…ya know…other reasons.
Hard, hard bodies are not nice to cuddle up to.
I’ve been with guys who had so little body fat it was like hugging a piece of furniture or a particularly lumpy boulder. Not sexy.
Don’t be afraid to keep a little fat for padding…much more comfy.
Sounds like I’m near perfect…
